Yeah he just created the finest tactical game ever made.
Really now? How does it compare to the likes of jagged alliance or even 7,62 high calibre?

You know nothing John Snow vean. Saying that JA2 is a larpfest doesn't even make any sense. How is that game larping?

Frozen Synapse is a great game, and seeing them (well, him) defend that thing is like seeing a childhood hero -eyes bulging, mouth frothing- strangling your brother while asking you "What do you think of me NOW!?"

JA2 is a LARPing borefest. You spend 95% doing superficial, irrelevant activities like choosing the right hat out of 10000 available hats* for your mercs.

If you think JA2 has good gameplay you are completely deluded.

* I know there are no hats in JA2. Fuck off.

Of course devs are gonna defend other devs, what did you expect? The saying "Don't shit where you eat" isn't said without a reason.
Indeed, you ll only hear defense and "respect" for other devs, games and companies when you press any dev for opinion. Game industry is as circlejerky as they get, more so than any other branch of entertainment or tech industry.

People shouldn't have expected anything else, especially coming from an indie dev.

BTW, let's take a look at supportive comments for that video

Tried X3 Terran Conflict. What an incredibly boring game. I did a bit of the tutorial. Even with time jump your ship feels like a snail trying to move forward. There is no cockpit (though there's a mod for that apparently). Combat felt about as exciting as shooting targets with a small caliber rifle with your eyes blindfolded.

I remember back when Freelancer came out people complained it was simplistic. Fine, but atleast the ships felt like they actually moved, controls were logical and combat felt fast-paced.

This, no no no. Is X Rebirth faster, or should I not bother?

That's because X3 isn't a Freelancer clone. It's an empire building game. I think you went in looking for the wrong game.

X: Rebirth sounds like it will definitely be more your speed.
It wasn't. Tried the tutorial I think, I can't tell. It's the exact same game but with a cockpit, barely improved avatars and voice acting. Same shit german interface and controls and plot, and a car in space stuck in first gear.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Frozen Synapse and No Man's Sky are both Brit games. I think there's a bit of a "British mafia" in game development and gaming journalism (RPS, Eurogamer, etc). They stick up for each other.

(Exception that proves the rule: Peter Molyneux)

X3:TC is one of the best space sims out there. Not because of amazing combat or syperb flying mechanics but because it is marriage between economy game and space sim.

Get Xtended mod and you work from 0 into super fleeet of ships which each of them took decent amount of hours to buy and outfit properly. At same time you create factories, trading fleet and so on.

I think best way to describe it would be Eve light + actuall space flying yourself.

X rebirth after 4.0 patch is mediacore but still better than NMS. Though it runs like shit regardless of whatever you have (DX9 game in 2014...)

edit:

Nothing feels better than deploying small carrier with 3 medium fighters somewhere knowing you actually earned, outfitted, bought and you fly it yourself.

Peter Molyneux reached his state after 20 years, Sean Murray did this with his second game and at age 34

Not only that, molyneux made really great games before , there was a real basis to the hype if you remember titles like populous powermonger, syndicate, theme park...Sean murray is a much more talented con artist.

If you think X: Rebirth is the exact same game as X3, then I've spotted your problem.
