So the outcome is this:

>Sony dropped Hello Games like a hot potato, and basically say "it was just a shitty indie developer we had nothing to do with it"
>The game is shit and the greatest disaster in gaming history, and at the current 60$ price sells only a few hundred copies (I have no idea who those people are)
>Sean Murray stopped posting anything in the internet completely and probably will never be seen again, spending the money in some caribean island and committing suicide when he turns 53
>Hello Games make a few pointless patches, recruit a community manager and later shut down in similar style like Godus developer, or release low profile shit for the few sheeple who like NMS
>Makabb has not been seen playing NMS, he just acts like nothing happend like a dog who just had his head in the refrigerator

According to steamspy it sold 737,608 just on Steam, add in the PS4 sales and there's no way it didn't sell 1 million copies. Which makes No Man's Sky a massive hit for an indie title by a team of 10 people. Sean Murray is probably too busy swimming in his money to give a shit about posting.

It's disgraceful really, and shows how pathetically easy it is to con money out of the space sim fans.

That may well be but you also have huge number of refunds, and a massive reputation disaster. I think if you consider the expectations and the P.R. risks this is a complete and utter Pyrrhic victory. They will have a fixed-place in all top 10s of software disasters of the next 100 years, and they will never be able to sell another game this big.

No Man's Sky recording fewer than 1000 concurrent players on Steam
2016-09-22-image.png

I like how many were defending the big drop of concurrent players 2 weeks ago or so by saying that all big sellers like Witcher3, GTA5 etc. have had large drops following the weeks after release. Yeah, but they are still in Top 100, among 5+ year old games like Skyrim and Shogun2.

How about less than 0,5% ? D:

Do the concurrent players really matter that much? According to Steamspy, it has 700.000 owners. Let's say 500.000, just to be cunty. At 60€ a pop, that's 30.000.000€

No wonder this bloke hasn't tweeted anything for a month. They probably don't have wi-fi in the Bahamas.

So, how much we wanna beat that as soon Sean Murray starts a new project and hypes it with a cool trailer, people fall for it all over again?

That's what happens with Molyneux every time, so no reason to believe Murray will be any different.

Molyneux was pretty skilled at apologizing and pretending that he was sorry for all the missing features that were totally under development at some point. Sean Murray is a stuttering, submissive, and inarticulate nu-male hipster who's too scared to even post on Twitter anymore. I'm not sure if he's got what it takes to launch another bullshit hype train and get people on board.

I think Molyneux got as much of his jollies apologizing as he did hyping his empty promises.

Reminds me of wife beaters and mean drunks who apologize profusely every time and swear they won't do it again.

Whenever Molyneux came up people would be all "B-B-BUT MUH BULLFROG" completely ignoring the fact that he wasn't the sole person working on those games.

Murray is like a young poker player who managed to strike rich on the first evening with nothing on his hand. Well, ironically, rich he may well be, but he is fucked as a game developer. Now he must live a miserable hedonistic life on some holiday island like Dirk Diggler, Limahl or Guru Josh, socializing with porn stars, chavs, tourists and bitches who only want his money.
