Money is not everything. Just imagine the faces of tourists in some ficki ficki bar in Bali or some other island where he will be hiding for the rest of his life, when they ask him how he made his millions and he just starts sobbbing. Or once in a while someone else recognizes him and grabs him by the collar yelling "aren't you the asshole who made this piece of shit NMS, if you dont give me back my 60$ immediately plus interest I will break your skull". He will probably have to carry around envelopes with 60$ for the rest of his life.

Sean Murray wrote the tweed.

He probably had a mental breakdown, after drinking some bottles of vodka and seeing his career in shambles he wanted to take it back to the people who let him down so badly, i.e. not liking his game.

The next morning he probably realized that a developer who starts abuse will be out of the job within days, unless he is Derek Smart. But he does not have 1% of Derek Smarts class.

Yeah, I think too he had some kind of breakdown. If he wants his reputation back maybe he should start to fix this game with addons and enhancements. I mean he got basically paid in advance, time to change it for some streetcred.

He could just make a DLC, which - big promise! - will fix everything that's wrong with No Man's Sky, for the cheap price of only $30. I think that's how issues like these are handled nowadays.

As he is probably already living in hiding now, things shouldn't change that much after such a move.

Now afterall NMS has gone into history, by a "Lex No Man's Sky" on Steam

Valve Demands All Steam Game Images Are Real Screenshots

Valve is firming up its policies and guidelines surrounding the use of images on each game store page, and it’s good news for anyone trying to decide whether to purchase a game or not.

One of the key elements of a Steam game page is the screenshots area near the top of the page. Not only is this where you can access gameplay videos, it offers a range of screenshots from the game. But that’s not actually been the case until now. Developers were free to upload concept art or pre-rendered stills which aren’t representative of the final product.

The most high-profile example of this recently is No Man’s Sky. Those screenshot visuals clearly aren’t from the final game, which failed to get anywhere close to that level of visual quality.

The photoshopped version is even better, because everyone is excited on this photo except for Sean. I knew something was wrong with his eyes. It's like he's the only one who knows what's written on the disk.
It's all happened right there, when Mr. Doritos tells him about massively mutiplayer world, and Sean is like "Wtf?", and a second later "Oh, well, I'll just play along".

Some youtuber described NMS's textures as "out of PS2's era".

Plus I hear the PC version is yet another awful console port, I wouldn't know firsthand since I didn't want to touch this game at all.

It's a pity because the game's tech and art are amazing. If this was an early access title with another couple of years in development, it would be something else.

What exactlty is amazing about the tech? Its been proven to be smoke and mirrors.

Exactly...Even the colourful 'alien' worlds rip off the palette and style from 17 year old Outcast(which incidentally did it much better and was a great game to boot).

No Man's Sky was a mistake?

No, the game is so large you must play at least 1000h to discover the real secrets.

I just realized that the link that I had saved has been down for almost a month now. Which means that all the retards shitting on the tech of the game didn't even bother to click a damn link to see what I was talking about.

Here's the cached version from Archive.org.

I know that the eventual snarky response will come, I just leave it for posterity for anyone with a brain interested in coding. Also confusing the engine with the actual game is a mistake that deserves a whole new "consoletard" button. But I guess we already have that.

Battlezone did 3D too, it's not the same as today's though. I can't understand all the butthurt, I'm not even talking about the damn game. The tech is actually quite impressive, and they are doing things not done before. It's obvious that they run out of time and they went for the quick buck, but I'm not talking about that.
