The problem is that this is absolute bullshit. They just automated the work of generating the worlds, it's absolutely logical that you wouldnt do this by hand.

ANd why do you say this ?

Because everyone would do this? To claim he must be a genius because they automated some tests is like saying he is a genius because he is using a calculator and doesn't chisel every calculation into clay.

Well you are twisting the words, it's not your normal automation, according to them.

Everything about this game is special it's math wizardry

I agree.

Except that the fanboys, media and Sony are already so deep in this that people will deny that its boring shit.
This is how hype works. Oblivion was shit, you could read it in all the RPG forums at the time how the fans felt scammed, until a new breed of rpg gamer came who did not even know what rpgs were.

Atleast it will have more gameplay than minecraft. Minecraft has no gameplay at all, and look how many people play it.

Ok I just say so much that the comparison with Minecraft is about the worst you can make. In Minecraft you can do incredibly much with almost nothing, in No Mans Sky you can do almost nothing with incredibly much.

If you dont get it, not my problem. You will play your screensaver underlined with horrible ethno music for a few days, then realize its beyond stupid and dissappear from this subforum for a while. But perhaps you will remember me ;)

This is the thing. What do you actually do in this game, except fly around, look at things and give it names? You can shoot at things, yes, but even that seems to be limited. I have looked now at quite a few screenshots, and the videos already bore me when I watch them. Don't take me wrong, I like the art style, and the first time I saw something about the game, it looked really nice to me. But everything after that was more of the same, over and over. Does any of these creatures actually do anything interesting?

How this company is a big enterprise if they have one obscure game released (joe danger)? This is a small studio with 10 people.

This is not EA, they have nothing to loose and everything to gain, why would they lie ?
You know, in this time and age, the "why would they lie" reads like a typical Codex joke, except I have the impression this was meant as a serious question. An easy answer would be: sell shitloads of games in the long pre-order period, get rich and retire with 30 or whatever their age is. It is as if Molyneux never existed (they even copied his "Curiosity" stick).

Then again, there's "lying" and "lying". Good salesmen or politicians lie in a way that they cannot be held accountable afterwards. They either use hollow words that basically don't mean anything, or they use fanciful images that have a true, but boring kernel somewhere but evoke exciting expectations that hide that kernel. Or simply said, they use marketing bullshit language. You can see in this case that they know that people fall for bullshit like this. You don't measure the size of a game in cubic parsecs.

I get the feeling Makabb is completely ignorant of both programming and game design, because anyone who knows anything about either can see that pretty much all the claims they're making about this game are bullshit. I don't know if it's the marketing department trying to find ways to generate interest in the game, or if the developer is trying to explain complicated concepts to the collection of morons who make up games journalism and they're just reporting inaccurately because of that, but the result is still just bullshit.

Also claiming Minecraft has no gameplay demonstrates gross ignorance, either of the game itself or of the definition of gameplay.

NMS will be the released Spore of indie games of our times.
Fixed.

Preview, and for those who say there is no 'gameplay', it already features more gameplay elements than minecraft for example.

. Both space and planet gameplay will pit you against hostile lifeforms and unforgiving environmental obstacles, including black holes, pirates, sentinels, and other forms of aggressive aliens

How you decide to handle these situations is up to you, and depending on your actions, there will be consequences to deal with. For instance, if you see pirates attacking a trade convoy, you can decide to help the convoy or join the pirates in the attack. Naturally, you’re going to anger whichever faction you go up against, and, chances are, that group will remember your actions and repay you accordingly.

Using the resources you’ve gathered will allow you to upgrade numerous components of your ship, including: Cargo Space, Cloaking Devices, Weapons Systems, Engines, Hull, Hyperdrive, Shielding, and Wings. Similarly, fuel will be a resource needed to travel to other systems and will share space in your cargo hold.

To defend yourself (or go on the offensive), you’ll be able to craft upgrades for your ship and pilot. Lasers and grenades are two of the known weapon systems that will be offered to players. Grenades, it seems, will also allow players to blow out chunks of earth which could give access to subterranean areas on planets.

At some point during your experience, chances are you’ll want to get a completely new ship. While all varieties are on the smaller, single pilot side, there are four known varieties to choose from: Traders, Explorers, Science, and Fighter craft. Obviously, depending on your goals and playstyle you’ll want to pick a ship that fits your mindset.

If you find yourself outgunned in a space battle, you’ll “eject” and respawn in your ships life pod. You will retain your units (currency), as well as any upgrades you’ve amassed, however, say farewell to your ship. When you die in space, you’ll have to navigate to a new planet or, if you’re lucky, a nearby space station, and then you’ll need to begin the path to acquiring a new ship.

So, other than the obvious aggressive pirate or alien shooting you in the face, how else can you die? Well, in space I would imagine flying too close to a black hole would probably be a bad idea. Likewise, reckless flying will probably cost you dearly. Planet side, there will be hostile environments to deal with such as extreme heat, subzero temperatures, and toxic atmospheres. If you don’t upgrade or manage your suit properly, you could quickly find yourself freezing to death on Hoth-knock-off-2.0.

while planets will vary in size and biome, it would probably take a single player months (if not years) to fully explore a single planet on foot.

The closer you get to the center of the universe, the more difficult the game becomes. Aliens become more hostile, lush worlds fewer and further in between, and other obstacles will start to show themselves as you near your journey’s completion.

However, even with the new information available, Hello Games continues to be fairly tight-lipped about the game’s features. It’s quite possible some major aspect of the game is still under wraps, just waiting to be unleashed.

I haven't heard a game promise this much since Spore. But surely this time things will be different, after all companies never lie about their games for marketing purposes.

What promise? It's a preview from a site and not a promise, meaning they played it.
