My top three indies would probably be Synthetik, Everspace and Darkwood, and while all three deserve more attention they at least got enough for the devs to go on to make another game.

Synthetik 2 launching this year I believe. STEAM says early access atm. I don't recall a sequel to Darkwood. I dig these logos:

Acid Wizard! Reminds me of an old crazy Ad&D alt I had that would get high on shrooms and used his Melf's Acid Arrow to drip and burn the flesh off the face and carve out the eyes of captives that surrendered. Yeah, he was unstable.

Everspace -> Everspace 2. Decline.
Synthetik -> Synthetik 2. It's in early access.
Darkwood -> Some kiddie football game. Decline.

Does a 5+ hour feature complete demo count as a game? I had a blast with this one, I really hope the dev finishes it.

Dakota the RPG
It's actually at least 3 games in one (the first one is, the most close to meh out of them, but power through! You move on the the other ones within minutes)
It's a more modern Adventure game, with a more traditional jrpg style RPG inside with a super fun simple rouge like inside that. It was easy to play to the end of the demo, tons of fun!

The Quest by Alex Kutsenok. Made in 2001. It requires an emulator to play on windows, but you can for free with DOSbox (I can share the instructions for how to do that). It seems to be considered impossible by a lot of people, but I've learned the mechanics in depth and can tell you it's not. It is challenging at first, but its fun, and if you want to try it, I can help you learn. There are no tutorials for it since it's older and went under the radar

I've been trying Legends of Amberland recently and I keep getting my ass kicked.

I keep getting better and making different decisions each time, though.

Dare I say it, I'm even having fun .

It might be fun, but it ain't an RPG unless you're getting pegged.

Don't know if these have been posted but are reasonably straight forward good isometric RPGs. Book of Eschelon 1,2 and 3 with the first part being free.

honestly very underrated.

honestly very underrated.

Played it (for 10 hours, maybe). Had good expectations but I dn't like it a lot.

First of all, no C&C (yeah, I know that a lot of people don't care about it). But also the exploration wasn't that amazing, there isn't a lot to explore out of the places you NEED to explore for the main plot. And the combat is quite repetitive.

It's more an action game than an RPG, for me. It just has the character's attributes (and you mostly need them in combat situations).

But then, again, these are my tastes and I understand thousands of people disagree.

and it's interminably boring. i get that and siege of avalon: anthology mixed up all samey gameplay and looks drab and brown.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Just finished Fire in the Beastlands, a 2D soulslike in a savage prehistoric setting, extremely cool. Very well-designed world, there's some quests with different outcomes based on your actions, and different endings (only found the disappointing normal ending, gotta replay it at some point to find the good ending, there were quite a few things I missed on this playthrough). Lots of secrets to find. The exploration felt very rewarding.

There doesn't seem to be a thread about the new dungeon-crawler Tower of Mask.
Frankly, I don't think there'd be enough material to write about in one, but it seems to be a well-made indie.
It probably doesn't sound too good if I say that it has sort of a minimalistic approach to blobber elements, but here, paired with a perfectly brooding atmosphere, and actually quite composed graphics, it just works.
I myself am more of a Lands of Lore 1 / Operencia / The Quest kind of a guy, but the game's charmed me enough to see it finished.
There's just enough secrets and puzzles that it enriches the gameplay but doesn't spoil it by overdoing it.
Various weapons behave differently, and the combat—seemingly simple real-time side-stepping sort of stuff—offers some hidden mechanics, too.
I recommend it, if your blobber's list is dwindling.
