Do they need game designers in the enterprise software space?

No, but they need interaction designers, project managers, software designers, people who can understand customer needs and come up with solutions for them, and so on. I've no doubt that someone with Josh's CV would take about two weeks of conversion training to be able to work full speed in a similar role in enterprise software projects.

In the past, Obsidian's new RPGs have been teased a week ahead of being revealed. I suppose they could still unveil some sort of teaser site tomorrow, but if there isn't one, that might suggest this isn't some major flagship game announcement (assuming there's an announcement at all and that YouTuber isn't just talking out of his ass).

Then again, this would be their first announcement in the Microsoft era, so who knows.

Phineas is in one of the emails on the side saying he's not going sooo maybe its not just more amazing Outer Worlds stuff but actually really Josh's game that's going to be revealed!

Josh's game prolly started fairly recently and other games they've started should be in development for a year or 18 months max and they've already canned one project...too early for announcements for a new game unless they'll employ a different/long marketing method...

I bet they'll just announce Deadfire's release date for consoles/release it to gamepass that day.

XO19 is worth watching tomorrow if you’re a fan of Xbox Game Studios.

The event will have solid 2020 release dates for XGS games like Bleeding Edge, Minecraft Dungeons and Wasteland 3. New IP from Obsidian and Rare. A shadow drop. Plus much more
Well I guess that is confirmation.

It's Josh's historical low fantasy game actually; protag is a knight called Sir Vival, someone messed up in interpretation. True story.

Rare's new IP is apparently "several years away from release", so Obsidian IP could be the same: https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/rares-scarlett-adventure-game-will-be-announced-at-x019/

VGC understands Rare’s new title is a third-person adventure game based on a totally original IP. It’s the second consecutive new IP from the veteran developer, following the release of Sea of Thieves in 2018.

The game is still several years away from release, VGC was told, but Microsoft is keen to showcase first-party content ahead of Xbox Scarlett’s 2020 launch – especially following a significant spend on studio acquisitions.

From 2017:
I'll tell you what I told Infinitron last year... regardless of your opinions about our games, Obsidian values its relationship with the Codex.
^ Do you guys think this statement is still true?
They still lurk so probably. I do believe there is still a pro-codex faction at Obsidian.
Sadly much smaller on the creative side of the company than before which is the crux of the companys issue.

Of course they do. It's the one place they can get unchecked, brutal honesty.
