Few new job openings at Obsidian. They are looking for a Unity Programmer (to work on Josh's project) and Audio and Production Director.

Few new hires as well:

Austin Merritt - Area Designer. Previous experience from SMU Guildhall and Gearbox (as an intern).
Christopher Daugherty - Associate Technical Artist. Previously worked at 343 Industries

I wonder when they'll post the "Todd Howard Liaison Officer - and Damage Control Specialist."

Not really, I'm waiting for the moment there's a studio head meeting and Feargus and Todd emotionless stare at each other from across the room while a song that plays in the background suddenly sounds sad and nostalgic.

That's my jam boiiiiiiii.

I think Feargus was hinting in some interview he was going to go back into gaming or get more involved in the games somehow.

Not sure what to think about that.

What did he do on Torment and Pillars exactly?

I guess he didn't work on Tyranny or Dungeon Siege 3, although I thought he was involved in DS3 somehow (citation needed).

Feargus's name is in the credits for those games. I bet he did a lot of work on them.

According to Moby Games, Feargus held the vital role of Production Division Director on Planescape: Torment and had nothing to do with Pillars of Eternity other than being on the "Kickstarter Team" (also listed as CEO and President, but that would be true for all Obsidian games).

When Chris was still friends with Feargus, he said that Urquhart helped with quest design in Curst (he advised to increase experience players received for completing quests) and that's that.

What's with the Mario-dressed flaming basketball picture? I feel like I missed something.

Nvm - guessing Feargus doing a sure thing, sarcastically.

Basically people here have a tendency to use what you've said in interviews against you, in perpetuity.

There are old quotes that compare what he talked about vs. Tim Cain (mini gun particle effects and graphics vs a deeper story with branching solutions, etc.)

Essentially, he said a few times Slam Dunk in interviews, came off like a tool who was looking to impress the wrong crowd, and exposed himself as a dick multiple times.

Good to know!

Has he actually contributed to the games he's credited with, or is it more of a manager thing?

I know some managers like to pretend they're running the vision and the ship (Fargo is like that, but I get the sense he's involved at least). Swen feels like the opposite of that - he clearly seems involved and carrying the torch.

I can't find much of Feargus talking and not a lot - at least in recent interviews. Maybe he learned his lesson, people want to hear more from the devs anyway.

He's pure manager, and loves to slap his name to anything. It's pure ego and cash with him unfortunately.

Additionally, if you look through the Avellone thread, you can see a lot of the underhanded stuff he did over the years and why someone like Sawyer can thrive in it despite being obviously lousy while others who are genuinely good end up shitting the bed because of Feargus.

Link?

Sounds like a typical manager, tbh.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I have no idea where that thread disappeared to, but either I'm forgetting the title or it's not showing in search. Anyway, it was very bottom-of-the-barrel manager stuff with a side of nepotism and possiblly cooked financial books, if I remember correctly.

I wonder if Tim and Leonard will keep working on Outer Worlds 2 or will it change into New Vegas 2! Any sequel would be totally cool!

I'm not sure they can pull off a New Vegas 2 without Avellone, Gonzalez and Nu-Sawyer, but who knows, maybe all they need is a setting they feel comfortable writing for.

weren't they working on a Outer Worlds secuel for a while now too? nothing official of course

It took nusidian nearly the same time to make a DLC for outer worlds as it took to make FNV
If they are working on anything, I wouldn't expect it for a long time

Keep in mind Any potential Fallout Spin off by Obsidian will not going even start until Microsoft finalizing the acquisition on mid 2021. And even then i don't want the current Obsidian to develop spin off, i might reconsider if the spin off itself is going to be isometric turn base though.

MS said they aren't going to mess with their newly acquired studios' internal politics, which means they may leave Fallout to Bethesda. At least for a while.
