Swarming over this project with their grubby fetish driven hands- already there is demand for a console version on the Obsidian forum and plenty of mainstream sites are dubbing this a "Baldur's Gate Spiritual Successor" (THIS NEEDS TO BE MORE THAN JUST BG DAMN IT!). No doubt we'll get demand for emotionally engaging companions that we can romance and some clap trap about transgendered options for the player character and their companions (look, excessive pandering to an increasingly depraved audience without the ability to actually discuss gender politics on a mature level is part of what ruined Bioware in the first place). We're going need an Eternity Vigilance thread soon.

The Grognards cannot stem that tide brother

I blame Rtw/P

He's right about the child molesting for once though

What the hell are you talking about?
Come on, I thought our motto was "facts are for queers, bizarre outlandish claims about random users 4evr" :(

the setting sounds like some god awful scots/irish fuckfest.
Yeah, I'm a bit worried about this. There's honestly nothing less interesting than Gaelic mythology (Scot here)

I'm not all that hyped, but for $20 why the fuck not.

Edit; Biotards outnumber us on this one though, so things could rapidly decline once they start babbling and demanding the usual garbage, if it starts looking that way i'll pull the moneys, no point paying for something i don't want.

Now we can bitch all we want about RTWP but let's not lose sight of the real issue at hand. The Biodrones are coming.

Unlike Bioware, I think Obsidian knows when to listen to fans and when NOT to listen to them. It is ultimately Their game, and they know what will work to keep the vision and spirit of that game.

It's in the developers hands this time, we're outnumbered 10 to 1, so perish bravely against the LGBT Biodrone, the popamole and the LARPer swarms :salute:

Did anyone else notice that pledged amount went down around $30,000? Around 10 minutes ago it was $700,000. I may have been seeing things.....

THAT'S high-level feminazism to you?
"Most women armor looks stupid and kind of degrading to women" can be at least half agreed on by even the most strident women-hating dimwits.

Anyway, I'm pretty fucking excited. I share the disappointment with the RTwP combat, but it's still a significant incline from any other RPG released in the past few years. Learn to look at the bright side!

No he's just saying the character designs will be reasonable and not full of pointless pandering. And that's good, I get off on well developed RPG mechanics thanks, not low poly 3D models of skimpy elves.

Brace yourselves....here they fucking come (soon as my exams are done I need to draw some trolls to express this)

Not necessarily, but that together with a bunch of Twitter messages I've read over the years that I can't be bothered to look up and then they go on about gay romances, underwear and transgender and whatnot in the same thread.
He generally seems to be whiteknighting and PCing all the time and seems like he could be open to a lot of their "suggestions".

Honestly, having witnessed disappointment after disappointment after their last good game: Mask of the Betrayer, I do not believe Obsidian can develop good CRPGs anymore, much less construct a story/plot without derp and with real C&C. If this ends as a fun story-centered game with real choices and consequences, like some sort PS:T lite, it'll be one hell of a surprise, but I'm not making any bets, not for Obsidian.

I thought New Vegas did some nice things, but yeah, that is more or less how I feel as well. Still, maybe they will wow us when they actually let out some actual information. And if not, well, I can always save up for Cleve's kickstarter.

It's generally pretty easy for me to hide my contempt for people on this forum, but you need to shut up.

Here's a couple of thoughts:
- KotOR II
- NWN2 (not MotB though)
- Alpha Protocol
- New Vegas
- Dungeon Siege III
- infinity engine's real time with pause
- the fact that the project might as well be called Infinity Project (like the engine, get it?)
- the fact that it's fantasy
- the fact that these awesome people (no doubt) and awesome game devs (for sure, way better than me) have been living their lives for the last few years developing shit and bending over and not doing jack squat for me (and for us, might I say? No, I may not. For me then.) and actually hurting the genre in the process.

So NO! Fucking fuck. No fucking way am I sponsoring their favorite past-time. I too would love to be a game developer, design the shit out of a proper RPG, not some RTwP compromise crap, but I can't so fuck them they should be working in the mines for throwing away their GIFT by developing shit games for shit customers.

There.

Next time, get me some decent proper game that's centered around being a GAME rather than a marketing plot. Who the FUCK pledges 1,1M for this crap!? It's so mainstream I'll be surprised if it doesn't reach 10M.

Though I don't think it'll suck. Kickstarter seems to be an awesome place for games.

Yep, his continued endorsment for Miss Feminist Frequency is what we should all strive for: http://www.feministfrequency.com/

I'll get back to you when the polls are up for what kind of omnisex romances you want in the game.
Now that I'm thinking about it, they could offer that as stretch-goal for the Biowarians.

RTwP blows, but I at least liked BG and Torment even if I didn't think they were great. 20 bucks for a buggy spiritual sequel to them is a good deal but I doubt I go much higher than that. It is weird that publishers are so against funding RPGs that a RTwP Infinity Engine game can't get funded.

Yet Sawyer's written zero romances in Obsidian games and wrote the Legion, who aren't exactly a "feminazi" faction. So clearly he isn't bringing his politics into the videogames Obsidian make.

Codex is pretty good at finding anything to whine about though, so I'm not that surprised.

Well according to the other thread they're already lobbying him (rope kid) for LGBT and transgender romances on Something Awful and he seems rather responsive e.g.:

SomeChump posted:
But yeah, rope kid, for what my $35 is worth, reign in the lame gender stuff Obsidian still shows up occasionally, you read LF so you know this stuff and make the most LGBT friendly and authentically diverse grognard RPG on the market, then you folks'll be legit awesome.
This is extremely important to me and I still push for it (sometimes literally yelling at people) whenever it comes up.
