The team and setting sound nice, but i want more details before pledging. Like, ex. party of 4 or 6 (huge difference in terms of combat encounters and tactics)? Complex spell system? Combat in generall must be as complex as atleast DnD.
Still would love to play an infinity-like game. Presence of Tim is almost 90% pledge for me.

I think they could definitely eke out a few more $10k pledges from this quarter of the internet if they state that strip poker counts as a board game.

If they say no to that, you can just troll them by picking something like World In Flames (infamous for '100 hours' being a somewhat conservative length estimate) as the board game of your choice.

Obsidian, I won't demand any percentage of your extra 10k pledges if you put this idea into action. I work for the good of all.

I for one was totally expecting Obsidian to make a combat focused tactical turn-based rpg. Yeah, totally. It's not like they've ever expressed interest in story and characterization or anything like that.

They keep throwing the IE engine around so I assumed that it would be a 6 person party but I guess there is no concrete evidence. And I hope they have a shitload of spells like in BG/BG2. Variety is the spice of life.

Yeah because the two are mutually exclusive. Fucking stupid piece of shit.

Unfortunately they usually are. Probably not intentionally, but they are.

Anyway you're probably trolling.

Anyway 2: Bets on how much they'll raise for the first day? 800k seems doable.

Thanks!

Being surprised that Obsidian doesn't find TB combat that important and announcing it SPIRITUAL FUCKING DEATH makes you just another fucking stupid piece of shit.

Combat uses a tactical real-time with pause system

Fuck this shit.

Really.

Tim Cain + Obsidian + no publisher bullshit = it doesn't get any better. And yet, we get RTwP. It's like you are paying to get spit on your face. To get diarrhea on your mouth.

SPIRITUAL

FUCKING

DEATH

Say just NO to this bullshit.

Another winner. :brodex:

They're targeting a spring 2014 release. The game will cost you $25 (or $20 if you're an early supporter). And it'll be PC only, because Avellone is "tired of designing content and interactions that caters to consoles and console controllers."

"Those limitations affect RPG mechanics and content more than players may realize (especially for players who've never played a PC RPG and realize what's been lost over the years), and often doesn't add to the RPG experience," he told me.

I'm glad they are going to use RTwP instead of TB.

With Chaos Chronicles, Wasteland 2, Original Sin and Underrail we allready have plenty of promising TB-combat titles. Nice to see an upcoming 'old school' rpg doing things differently.

Oh hey, they also provide Kickstarter-exclusive in-game content. How cool. I thought that was a big no-no.

And this:

Previous reward tier + we will upgrade your box to a COLLECTOR'S EDITION BOX. You will find a CLOTH MAP OF THE GAME WORLD and the PROJECT ETERNITY CLOTH PATCH inside the box. The collector's edition box will include a cloth map just like the old RPGs that we love. The game patch is an embroidered high quality non-iron on patch. Game patches are a tradition at Obsidian, and we want to share that tradition with you! Please add $20 for international shipping.

Is this a joke? I have bought Obsidian games boxed and none had patches.

I bet The Brazilian Slaughter knows all about patches.

The bitching about rtwp is overwhelming.

Main issues with rtwp combat in IE games were shitty pathfinding and lack of zone of control(for melee fighters). Both can be fixed.
It's not like TB is automatically superior. Don't try to claim BG combat is worse than TB in Arcanum or Avadon.

I don't know about Avadon but I prefer Arcanum's broken combat over the banality of BG. At least the shit is varied in Arcanum. And I'm saying this as someone who abhors combat design in Arcanum and avoids playing the game again just because of that. Yes. RTwP could be done better. But it's unlikely it will. It will probably be some MMO-influenced shit like DA:O. Like The Brazilian Slaughter.
