Fuck this bullshit. I don't want Obshitian getting their claws on this indie property. They will fuck it up and make it extremely buggy and stuff like that, which they always do.

Also, too many cooks spoil the broth. MCA seems to be an above average writer, but Wasteland is Fargo's baby. Avellone probably has no idea of what wasteland is all about. He will undoubtedly fill it with 'humor' like in fagout 2.

Ever heard of paying attention? Go read the Ripten article. Also: I only had one major bug in AP and it was solved by loading an earlier save. Cry moar.

I see circ and curry have already posted. Now we just need Shannow to complete the unholy trinity of our resident Obsidian bashers. Skyway doesn't count.

All this talk about bugs and "Bugsidian" is besides the point. It's obvious that what's meant by "co-developed" is that Obsidian will consult, lend inXile some tools, and that MCA will maybe do some writing.
No programming involved.

Let's be serious, though. Wasteland 2 stands a much better chance of being a good game with people who have actual experience designing CRPGs on the team. Before you jump down my throat, it was just inXile before this. I have no idea who makes up the development team of inXile, but their past games are all iPad games and Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Not exactly the best track record.

To be fair, neither does Obsidian, but I have a feeling that saying "Obsidian" is PR-speak for "Chris Avellone and maybe a few others" and not literally handing it off to Obsidian.

Obsidian’s Chief Creative Officer Chris Avellone will be working directly with the design team at inXile to help bring the world of Wasteland together

I'm not an "Obsidian basher", in fact, I've said multiple times that I liked FNV a lot. But they also make buggy games, and since there's no particular reason why they should be involved, I think they should just stay out of this one.

Is MCA trolling, or do you think he meant predecessor?

So I send a link to this story to the wife. She replies, "Fuck saving for a house. Give them our money."

...I think this may be some sort of test. Fuck it, I'll play Obsidian Entertainment Production Wasteland 2 single from my mom's basement.

It's a common mistake.

Hey dumbass,

How many times do you have to be told, that PUBLISHERS are responsible for QA.

He is implying that Wasteland 2 will be the spiritual successor to the original Fallouts. Not the FPS Bethesda games.

I agree that this probably means Chris Avellone (maybe Tim Cain also?) more than Obsidian as a whole. I'm already at the $250 level plus what I put into our own shrine so my pledge stays where it is. I do hope the next update clarifies exactly what Obsidian will be doing as this could really generate an uptick in pledges.

It is a Wasteland/ Fallout fan-boy's Dream Team: Fargo, Stackpole, Pavlis, Anderson, St. Andre, Morgan, and now Avellone & Cain. That's a pretty impressive team no matter how you look at it.

Hey Assholes, why are you talking about Chris Avellone? Fucking TIM CAIN works at Obsidian!!

You're right, I had forgotten he came on-board recently. Edited my Dream Team

MCA has confirmed on twitter that he's still thinking about his own kickstarter project and working on W2 wouldn't affect that - he says he just really wants to work on W2 too...

I think they should bring in David Gaider, Chris Priestly and Hamburger Hepler while they're at it. :smug:

And Herve, just to make sure the whole thing ends up being a disaster :smug:

That's actually a good move on Obsidian's part, business-wise : they avoid being Fargo's competition for the time being, they get the opportunity to gather their fanbase around a new medium and rebuild an indie credibility, and they help create the very tools they'll be using for their own kickstarter...
It's a win-win situation.
