That's a damn shame then.
Still I'm thinking more along the lines of lead designer rather than "director" or "producer" or whatever they call now the guy who just sits around and gives orders.
What exactly do you think a lead designer does? I'm fairly certain it involves leading a team of designers.

Brian Heins is the Project Director.
Matt Singh is the Lead Producer.

Matt MacLean is on it - I believe as a senior writer (maybe the lead? not sure).

Constant Gaw is on the team - senior or lead level designer maybe? Not sure.

Matt MacLean https://www.linkedin.com/in/toonces
Brian Heins https://www.linkedin.com/in/bheins

Not a single thing in their portfolio that could give me a teeny tiny bit of hope for this game. This new generation of obsidian game developers only worked on new shitty obsidian titles. No hope whatsoever.

Funny, because Tim Cain was actually not the lead designer of Fallout but rather "producer".
OK, then "original game design".

See above then...

Although you know it might also involve setting up the design scope and specifications.

Sheesh, I don't care what the job is called if the game is made according to his design.

FOR MotB:
Avellone wrote Gann and Kaelyn.
Matt MacLean wrote Safiya and Okku.
George Ziets handled the story and most of the rest of the writing - approved all the characters.

Just FYI.

Hmmm, we ought to give Annie Mitsoda a DoubleBear Productions developer badge for old time's sake. Even though she'll probably never log in again.

EDIT: Oh, and BurritoGoblin too (Obsidian). :M

Does Obsidian even have anyone worth mentioning now?

There's always room for new talent to assert itself. It's not like Tim Cain or whomever you like was born a visionary.

I couldn’t agree more. However, the problem is not just whether they have great talent, but how fair they are willing to go to make a decent game. Tim Cain made the Fallout engine in his spare time. I think that the culture was different back then. Among other things, people used to be more creative because the atmosphere was more informal. However, Obsidian seems to be too professional for their own good. PoE shows us that their priorities are money. If you stick to chosen one narrative, make it super-easy and use RTwP, all just to ensure more sales, then there isn’t a talent in the world that will save the game. If they wrongly think that PoE is a decent cRPG or that they can make a decent game having money as the main priority, that is even worse.

I wonder if this topic is going to reach PoE level proportions even before we actually get some real info about gameplay.

You know, I'm starting to think that the PoE butthurt is eternal and will infect any new thread, in the same way that Oblivion butthurt did with Bethesda threads.

Anthony saved this thread. I was going to give up on it on 15th page with all these talks about trannys, furries and slave-girls.

And there i thought that this was the most interesting part of this thread, because there was nothing else besides the gay purple crystals and the world of evil wrong pronouns for a discussion.

A world were evil won?
Like a world were making money is more important then making a real master piece.

This games art looks like a Diablo 3 clone.
Paint me purple.

I'm sure Interplay was interested in making money when he sat in a closet making Fallout. The more Obsidian grows the company and throws shit against the walls to see what sticks best, the better chance we have of that magical "Fallout closet" happening.

Yeah, throw all those faggots in a closet (not the same closet or otherwise they'll never get anything done) and maybe something good will come out of it.

I tell you what, if they decided to downgrade combat system from the encounter system to the not-so-good old IE system, where you can abuse AI to no end, then... we will have to live with yet another game in which you can abuse AI to no end ;_;

Yeah, but Tim reviewed everything to make sure it "fit". He was very active in the design and he did create the whole concept.

it would be awesome if Tim took some questions about Fallout 1.

It would also be awesome if Obsidian saved Chris Taylor from Interplay.
Boyarsky too, but I imagine he's doing quite well at Blizzard.

Is the combat system stays around the same as in PoE?

Yes, more or less the same but with some modification, which will be announced in the coming months. Be sure to check this thread.
