I would say that if you take full advantage of a game's "openness" to "sequence break" and speedrun it in 15 minutes, then your experience of "story" is probably being harmed.

BG1 can be speed-run in less than 15 minutes, BG2 in like half an hour.

Without exploits to skip into areas you're not supposed to be in?
I watched a solo BG1 speed run in about 20-25 minutes where the player cut a lot of corners (literally: he would enter a wilderness area and go to the nearest corner in the cardinal direction he needed to go to next). He played with a F/M/T and took full advantage of hidden bonuses such as the ring of wizardry or the wand of frost. I don't think he completed any of the sidequests.

Mostly. Just YouTube that shit. Some runs use duping, but there are many legit ones as well.

I utterly despise speed runs. Way to mock what should be an experience.

Odd thing to despise. I don't see the appeal myself, but it's not like it ruins the experience for anyone else.

I hope they will release a gameplay video soon (June-July). I really want to see this game in action. Since Eternity is mostly done, they probably can show us some stuff.

"The budget would dwarf the $260 million Rockstar is said to have spent on GTA 5, leading analysts to believe Destiny could become the most expensive game ever made."

But... but.. but... I was told KOTOR OL cost 1 billionnnnnnnnnnnn $? Was that a LIE?

bahahaha. he doesn't annoy just you. I think that Brandon Adler, the producer at Obsidian, also doesn't like him too much, but that's just speculation. BAdler hates puns with all fury and lephys spends basically his whole time being punny.

he's not a mod btw. there is a mod who irks me at Obsidian though - we usually never see eye to eye on anything. Won't say who.

Good to know hatred for him is universal
I don't know why I thought he was a mod, maybe he used to have some colorful banner

When I see level block outs that don’t have branches, my first request is to open the level up more.
what a concept

If a side quest isn't fun, we will cut it. If a side quest is generally fun but can't have time allocated to improving it, we will probably keep it. Size of the world and quantity of quests are important elements of the IE games. Our quests don't all have to be masterpieces to be included, but they do have to be enjoyable on their own.

$10 says its Gfted1. Would love to add him to my ignore list on Obsidian but I can't :(

Lephys is definitely one of the most annoying posters. He replies to everything, every post is half a page long, or longer mostly because he talks to himself and he's very big on simulationist and LARP style examples that usually have absolutely nothing to do with mechanics or even gameplay.

Josh receives +1 cred for understanding the importance of breadth of content in the IE games relative to absolute quality.

I was trying to remember what it was that I didn't like about Lephys and that is exactly fucking it. Doesn't the guy with the cartoon av of a guy holding a shotgun or something sitting in a lounge chair do the same thing? TBH I don't even understand how some of you guys spend more than 5 minutes a year on those boards. They're fucking insufferable when they aren't just making some kind of +1 response.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Lephys is long-winded but I usually agree with what he says so I've got no problem with him. Maybe he teaches special ed or something and is used to explaining things real slow. I know that people misunderstanding you on the Internet can be frustrating, so the temptation to be really detailed and use lots of examples is understandable. He just errs in the direction of tl;dr.

DraQ can be long-winded, too, but there's usually meaningful ideas on a line for line basis. I remember the moment I figured out that Leph textwalled because it was like I unfocused my eyes and started moving from tab to tab skimming discussions that he had taken part in. I could literally ignore his posts and not skip a beat following the conversation.

Obsidian boards are infested with Bioware fans so there are a lot of annoying people. Usually I read only developers posts.
