Obsidian boards are infested with Codex fans so there are a lot of annoying people.

I'm currently throwing a tantrum on the Obsidian forums, but it really does piss me off.

Why do they want that everything is posted there first? It really ruins the fun I have digging up info on Obs.

Jesus Christ, you are sick.

I know. Its a peculiar kind of fun.

:troll:

Seriously though. Kneejerk reaction on my side to some comments. Over and done with.

Pfft, doesn't everyone want to play as a sweet duelist with a saber and a wide brimmed hat with a feather? Dost thou even procure thine own fashionables, knave?

I approve of Obsidian adding more queers, women, and queer women to the team.

Alsoooooooo for those not obsessively following the forums, today's update has been delayed to tomorrow, but it should be up earlier.

Josh on Unique Items

I already designed two uniques for every weapon type, but I was more concerned with trying to differentiate and distribute 40+ swords that were all creator-described as being "the best weapon in the game". Thankfully, backers designed a variety of items at different power levels, which allows us to fill a lot of gaps pretty easily

I laugh every time I see our frog helm.

A frog helm is actually a pretty nice idea. Not saying they should make the game comedic, but some funny touches like this can really make the game unique and memorable

By Frog Helm he means like this:
That's pretty neat; frog-mouthed helms are not that common in video games, probably because were mostly used by knights in jousting.

As a side note, one of the things I preferred in BG1/IWD over BG2/IWD2 was the helmet styles. The Flaming Fist plumed helmet, the Amnish and Korgan's winged helmets, and Ajantis' helmet all looked cool. I only preferred the basic helmet in BG2 to BG1, since I though it silly that the default helmet style was a horned helmet.

You can't see your characters important facial expressions behind a helmet. You can't even see the fear in the ork's eye if he's wearing a frog helm.

How do you get emotionally engaged?

By choosing snarky dialogue options and breaking the game :smug:

Pretty much everything about the BG1 character/creature/item art style was better. Every character model, every item model - all were better in BG1.

When I played IWD1, I used a mod to revert the BG1 character sprites introduced in one of the expansions. Even though Mike Sass was the portrait artist for both BG's, I preferred the more photorealistic BG1 portraits.

I've read that Daniel Walker was responsible for a lot of the BG1 art direction. Too bad he passed away so soon. At least Bio had the decency to dedicate BG2 to him.

Yeah there was some talent lost there. I think pretty much everyone prefers the BG1 portraits to BG2.
