1000 pages. Reading this thread is equivalent to reading a novel.

Sadly, in spite of all the pointless discussions and speculation, this thread has better writing quality, entertainment value, and re-readability than many published novels.
and drama. I forgot drama :smug:

Even a casual browser as myself is cogent of Obsidian grooming it's Kickstarter "passion project" in a traditional publisher's harness and halter.

The standard game industry corporate professionalism is not the elephant in the room, when flirting about sighting or not sighting … gameplay.

We must move on. Nothing here to wind us up to edgy invectives.

Let's wander on to the monkeys waving their privates at the InXile threads.

The standard game industry corporate control is (now) so comforting.

The standard game industry corporate dance with the media is (now) appropriate.

The 'for hire' media knows how to judge and decimate information of works in progress, consumers need not apply, I am told.

The professionals are in charge and all is right under heaven and before Josh. ;)

I dream peacefully, Obsidian is in control.

We shall know, when we shall know.

Yes, no whine before it's time!

for being supposedly "old school" and :monocled: individuals, many of you guys are whiny bitches. Chill out and let the company do their shit. your fucking entitlement doesn't pay their bills (yes, i understand that many of you whiny bitches were backers). they need to advertise, let them do it the way they've been doing it - the successful way. who the fuck cares if you see it two weeks after the press. trust me, your dick isn't going to get any bigger/more sucked if you've seen a video game press-release before the people who write about it in mass media.

Without those whiny bitches Obsidian wouldn't get near 4 million dollars (based on a crappy pitch that largely played on nostalgia and name recognition) to make a game for which they keep all profits and IP rights (almost no strings attached, a very different proposition to being whipped by a publisher). That said, of course I don't mind them playing the marketing/hype game as long as they don't lose sight of the core audience this game is meant for and not sacrifice gameplay depth and challenge level for wider appeal.

the point is that obsidian has been forthcoming with everything thus far and has given a decent reason as to why they don't want to show any gameplay at this time (and all this whining and complaining is pretty much proving their point), yet people make it out to be like Obsidian ran away with their money. not enough backers have experienced other kickstarters failing and have become unreasonable in their demands. it's typical human behavior though - everyone forgets the moaning and groaning of "the decline" two to three years ago and were willing to spend hundreds of dollars for jut a chance to get "old school RPG" and proclaimed Obsidian to be the savior, but now, people have suddenly forgotten all that and want constant attention from Obsidian.

if they make a crappy game or suddenly do something crazy, fine. but not showing gameplay because they want it perfect and gamers getting angry and not accepting that as a valid reason is irrational and demanding. i don't think the jerknalist/developer/publisher orgy is a great thing, but I don't read those magazines anyway.

probably, but i generally tend to like to have evidence to back up my accusations. thus i'll wait until they disappoint me before i decry their failure as a company. and then after that, they won't be getting any more of my money.

For those who have a something awful account, GetWellGamers will be posting his impressions in the thread as soon as the embargo is over. I'm gonna ask him questions too.
