I don't know. Sawyer is soft, like goo. He needs a hard man like Tim Cain to reign him in and keep him in line.

Well i wrote what i think in that thread. There is nothing stopping anyone from going back after talking their way past a encounter and then kill everyone including the guy that gave the quest. You simply wont be rewarded with x2-3 the experience. I like the system the devs said.

This dont stop exploring because exploring give you items, artefacts, lore, new hidden quests, dungeons or some hard encounter monster that will most likely still give experience.

What's wrong with gaining XP the traditional way for slaying monsters and shit? This is already "decline" now? Not that I would mind this xp for quests only, but you guys are completely over-exagarating again.

THE SKY IS FALLING; THE SKY IS FALLING.

In the end nobody commented on my randomish schemes. I've been overtaken by XP druglords. :(

Goes for both sides. :M

I dont see the problem they have...
They say this deprives them of the ability to run around and kill random encounters for XP. Their counter-argument to whatever objection we raise to that is: "Why remove it? Just don't abuse it if you care so much."

Which, given that most of the enjoyment we derive from RPGs comes from the restriction of character dynamics, is one of the stupidest things I've heard. There's a reason we like choice-and-consequence. You don't tell the game how you want it to be played, dumbass - you work within its restrictions.

(Not to mention this would be retardedly hard to balance if they go forward with both mechanics.)

FFS, diminishing returns!

They are called EXPERIENCE points for a reason. They are MEANT to be a numerical representation of your character's life experiences. Highly intelligent life forms gain knowledge, and by extension power, through experiences.

Fighting is an experience. Fighting something for the first time and surviving is of much more value than fighting it for the 100th time. Naturally then, the points gained for fighting the same things over and over again, should have diminishing returns.

Another way to combat this is to set the levelling bars at continually higher and higher points, and then basically setting some kind of cut off for actually getting experience points. So a level 5 should get like 1 exp for killing a level 1 goblin, but get the right amount of points for killing something much stronger.

Of course gain EXP for quest related non combat stuff as well as skill checks etc., but removing it from killing things is retarded and betrays the actual concept of experience points entirely.

I got edited for politeness. So this is what fascism feels like.

Heh she actually deleted my posts! I mean if you cannot talk about chlamydia, lizardman sex or the size of an Ogres endowment in a romance thread where can you talk about it?
