Yeah, I remember that. It's been more than four weeks from that update tho. Maybe for Obsidian "few weeks" is like 52 weeks.

If they're smart, they'll set it up today, so people can be (hopefully) amazed by the demo and up their pledge.

Is this demo really going to show something except animated 1st screenshot and waterfall?

I suspect it'll have at least some character movement as well.

We're going to show the exterior environment running in game, but gameplay may be limited/absent. We're not as far along in our development cycle as the Shadowrun (or Wasteland 2) teams.

That is pretty much all I have heard on what we will be seeing. Though I have not checked if someone else has said more info.

If only that exterior environment would be some new area, not the one we have already seen.

Considering they made a big deal about how good the waterfall looked, I think it'll be in the video.

If inXile could animate two areas before their game even began pre-production, I'm sure Obsidian can show you more than one area.

They animated those two areas with tools that Obsidian has been developing all this time, and their areas were very obviously rushed (shadows didn't work properly for example). I hope that Obsidian has dedicated more time for their demo or shitstorm is incoming (I'm not talking about codex, people here are always going to find something to bitch about). Quality is much more important than quantity the purpose of the demo is to show that they have developed technology, not to showcase in game areas (what they show in the demo isn't necessarily going to end up in the game).

Was this publicly confirmed anywhere? Or just conjecture based on the "we're sharing stuff with Obsidian at some point" announcement?
I was kinda wondering how inXile threw animating 2D art together so fast.
It'd be cool to know just how long they had to spend animating those two and in turn how long it took to create the tools used for it. And then SHITSTORM all over Obsidian for being too slow about animating their own stuff.

It's possible that they used some Obsidian tools but judging from what we heard at the wrap party, I don't think it was quite as simple as it sounded.

It's frankly one of the more accurate depictions of real-world religion I've seen in any media.

Largely inspired by Dune i think.

As are many things, but maybe "inspired by" isn't the right phrase.

Off the top of my head: Arabic and Persian influences, politicking, military occupation, vermiculture, collosus husbandry, ritual proving to natives, ascent through the transmutation of a poison, notions of an inescapable path, a true "outside" way hinted at by the visions of a demigod, and terra-forming the harsh land to avert an apocalypse.

I think it's simply that in the desert, you need desert power, and in messiah stories, you need messiah stuff.

Of course, the concept art reeks of 70's fantasy sci-fi and art, so I'm sure the same ideas were floating around in many heads.

If only P:E would adopt such "non-PC" character art... Sigh. Tits are the soul of fantasy illustration, don't you know?
