Grab the Codex by the pussy
The guy who posted this opinion is a real retard.

He's not a retard. Belittlement via oversimplification is a purposeful tactic, and indicates that the person is deliberately ignoring details and subtleties—in this case, Jack's face and expression, posture, clothing, jewelry, implements and accoutrements, et cetera.

"Weren't the guys in the P:E concepts just figures in jerkins?"

"Isn't Wasteland 2 just soliders in the desert?"

"Isn't RPG Codex just contrarian dweebs?" (This one is 100% accurate, the exception that proves the rule.)

He's a troll, easily disregarded. He's got no argument and nothing much to say, either.

?

Do you mean me or him?

If so, the oversimplification was because I honestly don't know what makes Jack's charachter in the Torment video so much better than the ones in the eternity video. I change it if you so desire.

Edit: Done

Edit 2: Also Jack's face was visible in the video? Have to watch again.

It looked like the hooded female version to me, but as it didnt have much detail, might be wrong.

It's kind of crazy going on mainstream gaming sites like IGN and Gamespot and seeing the reactions to this video: just a lot of "Oh, why does this look much worse than Crysis? Terrible tablet game, will not buy." And it seems like just yesterday to me when Baldur's Gate was a mainstream success that everyone understood. Is this what growing old feels like?

I think I can answer that.

YES YES IT DOES. IT IS EXACTLY WHAT GROWING OLD FUCKING FEELS LIKE, JUST WAIT UNTIL THAT FEELING WASHES OVER EVERY BIT OF WHAT WAS ONCE CENTRAL TO YOUR LIFE FROM MUSIC TO POLITICS TO FUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!

The illustration is the female NPC. However, it seemed to me that in the video the model was a male, wearing simmilar looking hood & cloak.
Not a big thing anyway, just sayin.

I'm pretty sure they said it was the cold calculating jack character. Who is female.

You should thank those feminazis and RockPaperDerpgun for this kind of developments. Now that bikini chainmail and generous cleavage are verboten, we are stuck with ambiguous character models. Expect more discussions about "it is male or female?" in the near future.

I hated fanservice armor anyway. :rpgcodex:

Maybe they just used the male model that they had ready. the movement and what little of the body could be seen seemed male to me. doesnt really matter but... yeah. whatever.
The animation was vry nice and fluid.

I think it was a female model, the Jack from the concept art. You could clearly see her waist, for example. But I agree, if we didn't already know who she was (and it was quite obvious), there could have been some uncertainty because she wears a cloak, the video itself is blurry and character model is rather small.

As long as it's not "Is it Forton or Cadegund?"

Hmm, was the first screenshot a mock-up? It seems that they've lost a few details.
Ehh, still looks brilliant. Even Blaine's .gif looked awesome to me.

:bro:

Whomever brought those changes doesn't matter to me as long as stupid fanservice stuff like that is kept out from my CRPG.

PE would be good even if the characters were made of sprites, because the enviroment looks amazing, and that is what really counts. Just like with the IE games, everyone was amazed by the enviroments, not by the characters. Zoomed out, we won't see too much detail anyway.

The characters in the prototype were good. Hell, if the final game will be on this level of quality, it will be a beautiful game.

It's a female, yes.

As for the whole topic of fanservice, well, in my view "chainmail bikini" or "boobplate" is aesthetically unappealing anyway, even before we come to the topic of jarring sexualization in situations that don't call for it. From what little we know of the jack, she's cold, calculating, a survivor, and a closed, independent-minded individual. Would it really make sense for her to flash cleavage? There are/should be women (and men) who use their appearance as a weapon, or as a means to get by, or simply because they like looking attractive, sure, but it doesn't make a lot of sense for it to be the default mode in the settings of either Numenera (at least not where Torment takes place) or PE (from what I know of it). Good writing trumps all though, which is the one point I'd probably disagree with some of the critics on this topic with, you can't have a focus on being PC trump good character writing and have it make the decisions for the writer, in any game.

Also, PE's characters look great to me.

Water looks worse, I wonder if they'll try to improve this. Bushes are much more simplistic, but I think this is just a matter of limited art assets. I see no reason why they wouldn't be able to add more with time, it's not like they could get away with using a single bush for the entire game.
Still, I don't give a fuck. I want them to spend all the money they have ( and it's not much) for important stuff. Leave all this bullshit for the sequel, when everything else is in place.
