No offense bro/girl but how the fuck would you know haha, having never played P&P
Infinitron, are you trying to get into Roguey's pants or something?

But we don't really know what lies behind her pants, do we.Infinitron, are you trying to get into Roguey's pants or something?noooooooooooo...... (yes )
He probably reads it, and shakes his head in despair.
He probably reads it, shakes his head in despair, and goes off to NeoGAF to argue in the exact same way but with less cussing.

I enjoyed the bit at the end of the livejournal post
"* Miss B_____ did actually play exactly one game session of 4th edition D&D, and she described it as one of her worst experiences in gaming, ever."
Damn straight.
I already mentioned in this thread that I have played before. With 2nd-edition-loving, 3e-hating grognards no less.No offense bro/girl but how the fuck would you know haha, having never played P&P
It was one group but we had something like half a dozen or more adventures over a period of months so^ 1 time with some retards, you see, so the Roguey knows all
Was it CoD? If yes, indeed you know all about at least 90% of new video games.I played a video game once, so you see, I know all about video games
It's pretty apparent to me that any given P&P session is only as good as its GM and players
When 75% of the book is devoted to combat, I don't think it's entirely the GM's fault that there is a lot of combat in a DnD compaign. It's pretty apparent to me that any given P&P session is only as good as its GM and players. For example, 4e having combat that takes too long wouldn't be a problem in a campaign where you're not killing a bunch of things all the time. That fault lies with the GM.
Meh, Combat chapter in D&D 3 is just 27 pages long, of the +300 in the Player's Handbook, GM's book have even less... you'll only get that ratio if you consider every spell/item/monster/NPC a COMBAT THING, instead of a regular part of the game...When 75% of the book is devoted to combat, I don't think it's entirely the GM's fault that there is a lot of combat in a DnD compaign.

Well, it's sort of half-true. Combat's not the end-all-be-all or anything, but the odds of getting through a long campaign without at least a few combat-heavy sessions are pretty low. A good group that's fun to play with is definitely important though.Roguey said:For example, 4e having combat that takes too long wouldn't be a problem in a campaign where you're not killing a bunch of things all the time. Wow, you just exploded my irony meter, given your responses to my attitudes towards P&P.

Much like every edition of D&D ever.A system partly made for tactical combat fails if its boring when you use it for multiple scenarios of tactical combat.
