Faction does not really matter. You just have to complete ALL of their story arcs up to (and not including) the dyson sphere. So after lvl30 or so they all do the same shit after all. The romulan arc for Feds got a revamp, so maybe that can interest you.

How does one approach becoming space-rich in it?

Well you can either grind one of the many different income sources or you can do economy related stuff like messing around on the markets OR you can try to scam people.

Some people basically earn shitloads of space-cash just by tricking people into giving them money and as long as you don't do it with some exploit or other bannable shit it's perfectly ok.

Iirc there's also a poker site where you can play poker against other eve players with the ingame currency.

But Alien does not have a racial speciality. Generally speaking, you should just pick what you find the most interesting choice. There's not really that many racial synergies with classes, and ones that do exist (ie, Bajoran healing bonuses) are negligible. Only Romulans have an exception to this, Romulan Operative trait.

But since most racial specialties are extremely weak or useless, is this really a loss compared to "can slot one more OP lockbox trait"?

NPC Fleets? I probably don't get a joke here, but he's just some lame guy who couldn't come up with his own name so he changed one letter from a canon one. Oh how witty he is. If his fleet's name was at least "fire at will!", maybe then I would consider joining.

Woah, cool. You got a random invite! I stood for a whole 5 minutes in ESD and didn't get a single one! I thought they had died. But no, not new. If anything, they're less common than before. Like I said: I was impressed by the fact that I could just stand there in public without a fleet for a whole 5 minutes and not receive a single random invite.

Naturally, you should accept, then check their banks for any unsecured valuables and dump any trash you have into their projects for easy FC, before buggering off to repeat the process. I used to be able to go through 5 fleets in as many minutes back in the day. But last time I was able to stand a whole 5 minutes...and nothing. Truly, the game has fallen on hard times.

I don't know my Star Trek well enough. Ryker/Riker completely flew over my head. Being a dumbass, I thought it had something to do with all these recruitment posters used in loading screens and that there were shiny new factions in the form of NPC fleets.

That'll teach me to overthink things.

One of the reasons is a lowered population cap per instance. Space is very empty now and ground isn't much better. But my <30 Derpa Rectums constantly get invites... maybe your name isn't to their liking?

I consider less random invites an improvement, there was a time when you had problems accessing the bank on new romulus because Tribblequeen fired fleet invites like a machinegun!

Edit: you can also bet your surplus potatos that they will be excited to reveal the Iconic Pilot Ship release: a pilot Defiant.
Maybe even a bundle containing Defiant, B'rel and uuuuuh T'varo? And of course the Cardassian Defiant as a brandnew lockbox pilot ship! All that excitement can't be good for their hearts.

Boy will people feel stupid for already buying the fugly fed ship then. The romulard one looks nice though.

After watching that gif my brain immediately spawned 3 questions:

a) Is this Star Trek Online or Wing Commander Online?
b) Why doesn't the game look like that on my toaster?
c) Why is there no lag or framerate issue? It's a FAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

While it looks "interesting", to me Star Trek is about large space whales singing firing mah lazah. Flying fighters I can have elsewhere. Still not buying.

What would you use your shuttle for anyway? I haven't even used the Derpa Flyer I got for frees once...

I've never used any, I have no idea. Overwhelm Emitters, Rally Point Marker, and Call Emergency Artillery at least seem interesting.

I would like to combine concentrate firepower with a torp escort but those ships cost a small fortune :/

Or you know it might be because they released a new bunch of ships and like pretty much every other time they've released a bunch of new ships for the last few years they've thrown in a ship sale as well.

Hardly, this is unsual as Ship Sales were 1-2 per year tops.

They are also throwing a Ship Upgrade if you buy a obsolete T5, to me its clear they art having problems with sales since people left and the ones that remained arent buying T5 ships as they either owned them or know better, all thats left its T6 and $30 for a fucking ship is fucking hilarious.

Also STO leaks shows another Sheshar with command seating that kinda hilarious since command is complete shite.
