I'm also somewhat interested in the details about the dilithium refining daily mission, or at least, how much dilithium we're talking about and how much effort/time the mission takes.

Costs are a copy/paste of the Embassy, simply its not worth it even for new fleets because you dont save anything (someone made the math and to break even it would need to offer a 30% discount) and you just paying for buying the Singularity/Warp Cores , RCS and Armor consoles.

Here is a project example.

Open Dilithium Trade II - 1,200 Dilithium Mine Trade Experience points.

630 Fleet Marks, 20,371 Dilithium, 18 civilians duty officers, 12 engineering and operation department duty officers, 30,000 expertise, 461 industrial replicators and 20 Dilithium mine provisions.

These ARE the exact same costs of Generate Diplomatic Contacts at T1 Embassy (3% Dilithium discount applied), its a near copy paste as Generate Diplomatic Contacts would just take 30 civilians.

Even for a new fleet that means if you go for the Dilithium mine its 3-4 months before you can start working on anything else if you want a full discount, now who TRULLY benefits from this?

Large fleets because they reached T5 and are sitting on their asses unable to generate FMs for their alts or new members, in fact there is a construction project at each Mine tier that gives a 3/6/9% discount on the Dilithium Store, small Fleets not only are not saving anything but are now having to juggle 7 departments.

Of course I fully expected the "cut" to be the opposite, at least there is enough fury on Tribble about this but will anything change? no ... now 6 months from now we will get another holding because this is Cryptic answer on how to retain players, make then grind to death.

And of course, the only cut new fleets would need is TIME needed. The current 250 day minimum for effective triple T5 (which in turn would require considerable resources or Norfleet) is simply so far away that people are almost certain to just go and pay one of the mega-fleets for access to their stores.

Problem is you just have 2 more departments competing and one more holding to upgrade that require resources you are already struggling to meet.

Will this be the stray that breaks the camel back? Likely and fleets will die ... they are setting for a cycle of megafleets that will exist at the near exclusion of everyone else, sure there is Norfleet and those 2 guys from First Aquarius but the norm will be 100+ members fleets and nobody else, even smaller fleets will just come to a halt with members just leaving to shop on large Fleets and return.

Cryptic simply does not have a clue on to fix this and continues to throw Fleet holdings as distractions because God knows, we havent farmed the exact same instances for a over a year now.

Alright, since we now into the Dilithium Mine holding here is some info.

There is a discount projects on applied at every tier, its 3% that stacks to a 9%, its in the following:
- Dilithium on Mine itself
- Commodities, DOFFs and items on Trading
- Fleet Marks on Research.

Also there is a project at the Mine that gives a discount not only on the Dilithium Store but also in EVERY Dilithium Store (at least Fleet, I asked about that one).

Also a change on projects requirements, the 1000 Xp ones will now accept ANY department, so its 90 tactical or 90 security.

I know Norfleet have plans but I do think the Dilithium Store Discount project just gone from Lulz to good considering Elite gear costs, its still not really much help because to break even ... it would need to pay for two holdings, meaning this is not really solving much for small fleets, the change to DOFF inputs on the other hand makes things far less problematic due to the imbalances of Security/Tactical and Science/Medical.

THIS is the best thing coming out of the upcoming changes IMHO. I wouldn't say it will make dealing with the SB projects enjoyable, but it'll definitely make them more efficient and less infuriating, and it will make contributing to the projects easier for anyone who doesn't have limitless amounts of resources or time (ie. anyone other than Norfleet). Perhaps we should temporarily put all science SB projects on hold and focus on engineering until this change gets to Holodeck?

Actually it seems Norfleet's currently running "balancing" projects every now and then, meaning the ones that accept dual category instead of one, in order to eliminate the overflow doffs.

Norfleet's standard policy is "save up until it's needed", he runs extensive contracts to acquire us FM from outside.

Yeah, they're kinda boring. Some proc or new bonus similar to the rommie consoles would have been much more interesting.

But at least they're better than normal consoles and I can't really complain about getting more durability or mobility per console.

Yikes. How are you guys getting energy credits? Buying stuff to fulfill reputation projects has left me broke.

Ker'rat lv50, blow up the Repair Cubes.

Only problem is you usually get Klings annoying the crap out of you, yesterday I did just fine as many Rommys are doing Ker'rat and its even better as the Borg are not firing on Romulan players unless you fire on then.

What you want is Engines, Deflectors and Shields and sell then to ESD/First City bartenders as they pay 50% of base price (best seller price), that means 100k on Mk XI shields.

Thanks. I'll try this when I get the time. :)

Consoles seem fairly meh.

Come on, you were not really expecting engineering consoles would go boosting damage?

The RCS are good because they now do something besides just more flight turn rate, at least I hope the PvPers dont start their crying game because this is escorts online as yes, they can boost escorts too but its not like they need it as much cruisers do.

yes, really

This image perfectly captures his characterization in the films.

Anyway, I started playing STO recently, as a Romulingon. I've been playing the story missions, just finished the series with the Devidians and headed over to DS9. I've been at level 50 for a while now though, the duty officer assignments made getting there easy. I don't know whether I'll keep playing once I finish the story. What's the endgame like? Is it the standard daily grind that we get in other MMOs, or is there more to it than that?
