i must be getting older: i sort of enjoyed the grind brought by latest expansion.
i already know i'm going to get bored in a day or two, but the thought of enjoying the grind scared me.

i want tabula rasa back :'(

Nah, you're not at the "old" stage yet. You can still get easily bored. For us old people, everything happens too frighteningly fast and it's really hard for us to get bored because it hasn't really been that long for us. Why do you think we old people can stand to do the same things every day, all the time, and never seem to get bored? Because for us, it hasn't actually been very long. To you kids, 10 years is an eternity. For us, it's over in the blink of an eye.

The new rep grind IS actually a whole different thing. It's like crypto-marxists designed it to pamper the playerbase.

Basically the fact it's like paid vacation compared to any other rep grind.

I'm thinking we probably have Nukara to thank for Dyson. Yeesh.
Yea, Nukara was hell.

I still haven't done it on any of my alts. I took one look at the various shitty methods of collecting Nukara marks and immediately went "Nope nope nope". Now that I can do the rep sponsor thing though, I may force myself through that grind.

Nuka wasn't that bad. Or even really awful at all. You run around and shoot Tholians for about 15 minutes and you're given 110 marks, good for 2 days worth. This is bad?

I have a natural averson to ground missions, but if that's the best way to grind Nukara marks I'm game.

Your alternatives are doing CE or Vault Ensnared, both of which can only be done at very specific times unless you want crappy pay. In contrast, the Nuka Exterior Ground circuit is relatively easy, can be done at any time, and you merely need to hold the missions until Happy Hour to turn them in for full credit, whereas the others MUST be done during Happy Hour or you get stiffed.

On top of that, they pay less.

A cooperative run with 2+ people generally works the fastest. You should show up sometime and you can join us in our runs, as there's a few tricks that make it faster with more people.

Muhohoo, managed to snag a Bajoran uniform from the giveaway just in time.

Anyway, has anyone tried out the Sphere rep gear yet, aside from the Proton Rifle (which supposedly is prepostrously powerful)?

I've unlocked the ground shield and rifle for my Reman. The rifle is nice, extremely effective against the Voth, which is the only enemy I've used it on so far. The space set looks like it'd be a good fit for sci ships, I may pick that up somewhere down the line for my Vesta captain.

Well its Cryptic, they hire people that ride the short bus.

In short, they fucked it up ... of course that is not the only thing they fucked it, they managed to screw up with another event that had no changes from the last year and in fixing they apparently now fucked up another event they also havent touched since last year.

aparently im to fucking old and paralitic to compite in those so called "races" for 2 "free" ships

Well last year I also run into trouble, I want to be fair and say ... well ...

The race was a event that dates back to subscription, I believe that when they made it that was the only event and there was no "free ship", you got a box that just given you winter commodities and had a chance to drop a JHAS (very, very, very small, they sold a package with higher chance in the C-Store, this was pre-Lock Boxes so this was likely the prototype) so they made it a bit hard.

Now it makes no sense because we had the Summer Event that I know some people had issues with the Floaters but because of the controls, the Winter Event Race is just "log in so we can show our overlords metrics so we arent sacked" but since, again, Cryptic they never changed the thing because Cryptic have the habit of never look back at things they did, unless its to fuck it up further with "improvements".

Also you cannot get the 2 ships, you can never get enough for both unless you spend Lobi on the rip-off packages.

and endless 5sec loop of death was just pathetic display of everything that could be grat but was shit on by craptic and other brainfarts

If you are talking about being frozen that is because the mechanics on the snowballs are just a fucking pain in the ass, weapons are more natural but because costs and the idiotic uncommon commodities requirements a lot of people will not have them, leading to what is issue with STO developers.

They ASSUME everyone been there since launch, they assume people had those weapons and never look at it from "a new players perspectives" and in other games this types of events are pretty much unchanged, Cryptic keeps adding stuff because they dont even think of new players and so assume everyone done it last year so they need a new carrot and thats why we end up with a Breen Frigate this year, I am sure in 6-7 months the same will happen in the Summer event with a new ship and 2-3 more events added on top.

It does take a certain touch to turn a seasonal event into a grind race because I ... feel stressed with the event this year, there is so much "stuff" to do that I just ... DONT want to do it anymore.

At this point probably less than 10% of the population is pre-F2P.

Anyway... Anyone figured out how to efficiently hunt poodles for Fleet Marks?

There isnt, you have to place first in that damned race and good luck with that, well technically you just need 6 tags per day per character and 1st place gives 12, 2nd 6 and 3rd 3 with finishing giving 1, considering the farmers and how they all zerg rush for that and they are online every fucking day and hour ... fuck it.

Without the digging, the entire exercise is a waste of time and we are better off sticking with Defera. It takes a good 15 minutes or so of manipulating the system to seize the win with anything approaching reliability, so unless you see that the line is empty at start, I wouldn't bother doing it.

Man, that's just so wacky. A torpedo that shoots mines that shoot beams. Next up: Jackal Mastiffs that shoot bees from their mouths.

Doesn't seem that different from the V.A.T.A. the Avenger came with though.
