Did you guys immediately join a faction? I joined The Holy Order but I didn't explore the other options.

Nope, but I think I'm going to go with the Blue Chamber Collective. Rissa's dark past intrigues me, the faction seems mysterious, and I know they are based out of the great forest of Enmerkar which is an ideal place for a base of operations for me. The Heroic Kingdom of Levant was my first temptation, but honestly, I don't want my base to be in the desert for this playthrough. The Order of Ellat seems really cool too, and they are based out of the very nice environment of the swamplands of Monsoon at Hallowed Marsh. They would have been my second choice after the Blue Chamber Collective after I thought about it for awhile.

I joined the order because they have an actual mortal-turned-God leading them. I figured they would be good for magic-based builds as well. So far so good but I'm finding it harder to survive in the Hallowed Marsh, it's very dangerous there and I already had to quaff both my antitodes because I fell in the rancid water there. Everything is too hard to kill so I'm hoping there's more to do in Chersonese so I can get some better equipment and stuff. I also picked up some side quests from Monsoon but they are way too hard for me at the moment. Are there other cities in each area that are friendly? I may have to check some of them out and deliver some of these letters I've been picking up. I didn't know to check the map to see other friendly cities so I'm kind of lost in that area.

Each major region has one friendly city, unless there are hidden ones too, which there may be. Have you been to the Conflux Mountain (or inside, I should say) yet in the center of the Chersonese map? It seems to be the first stepping-stone to heading out into the world. Besides that, there are a bunch of places to visit and find shit at on the Chersonese map. I'd recommend deciding which weapon you'd like to start using as a primary, then get a Fang blueprint for it from the blacksmith in Cierzo. After you craft a stronger weapon, you can kind of go from there, figure out what kind of armor is going to suit you best, get your survival gear up to snuff, then decide where you want to get to start getting silver for skills, etc. Chances are after doing this a bit, you're going to naturally progress to the point where Monsoon will become more manageable and you can settle into life there.

PS -

Got my Blue Dust armor set, except the boots. Feels really nice to be rolling around in it.

I haven't been to Conflux Mountain yet but I'm heading there now as part of the Holy Order. I have blue dust but I don't have the silver to craft anything yet - how'd you get so much silver? I have the fang mace recipe but have to find some bones, so I guess killing hyneas is in order. Also, how do you view your alchemy recipes without setting up a campfire? Is that possible? So you recommend just exploring Chersonese and finding things? Maybe dungeons or areas where you can find stuff?

A lot of silver I got was from mining when I was out exploring. When you mine common metal nodes, you have a chance of finding rare jewels that'll fetch a nice price. Also, Mana stones are useful, but also sell well. You'll find a lot of places to mine those around Conflux. Besides that, selling enemy weapons and larger beast enemy trophies when I can. Go do the first dungeon side quest for the lady asking for the shield mushroom in Cierzo. I think you'll like it.

Also, how do you view your alchemy recipes without setting up a campfire?

It's really stupid, but I don't think you can.

Yeah, there is a ton of stuff to find in that first map. I think once you check out that first dungeon, things will start making more sense for you.

Thanks man. I guess I have to craft up some travel rations and head back there. I was told by the Order I can get magic at Conflux Mountain so that's where I'm going to go. Forgot about those mining sites, I did find some rare jewels myself but I was saving them for possible crafting. I also upgraded my backpack so I can hang a lantern on it and carry 50 pounds now, which is pretty sweet. Oh, and the Order gave me a spell that lights up your weapon, so I can use a two-handed weapon without using a lantern since the weapon will glow. I thought that was pretty cool.

Man this game is cool. I was just able to open the door in the burrow where you needed a small sapphire, and it was a loot room with some sweet stuff. Got myself a nice coat that protects against cold too (it's snowing now in Chersonese) and some other goodies. The game is just a lot of fun and it's exceeded my expectations. There's enough hidden loot to keep you interested in exploring and mining and gathering, which just makes the world a joy to explore.

Is Conflux Mountain hard? I did climb to the top and got rocked by a giant bug. Hoping I can learn magic now and it's not too difficult. No spoilers though please.

Yes, it's challenging inside, but there are several ways to approach it - and I don't think this is too spoilery - particularly for the path you've chosen.

Traps are your friend, Fluent. It can be challenging but the game gives you plenty of options to approach the scenarios. Heads-up: Heroic Conflux Path, in my opinion, is the hardest way to reach the Leyline.

Do you get a choice of which path to take? I'll head there next. Can't wait to play with some magic. :)

Man, Conflux Mountain is brutal. Am I missing something? I only have 200 silver and can't afford to have my blue sand armor crafted, and those bugs with the electric stomps are impossible to kill. Might just try running past all the enemies there. Maybe I'm doing something wrong though, but I can't seem to get very good at combat. Must have fell 10 times in there.

You're probably just not well enough equipped. Also, if you're investing in Blue Sand Armor, I'd recommend passing on the helmet if you're going to be playing a magic based character. Heavy helms negatively effect your casting. But in general, you can get some decent light armor from the alchemist in Cierzo for fairly inexpensive.

I can give you a very minor spoiler that is going to make your life way easier and is connected to your chosen faction.

Explore the base of the mountain, below and off to the left of the main access bridge (if I remember right). This is the entrance of the Mission of Ellat's Conflux Chamber. You'll have a member of your order in some cool-ass armor there to help you clear out the enemies. It'll be much easier to deal with things from there.

The dude from my order only helps with enemies in the first room, then doesn't follow me further. I can't bring the enemies back to him because the passage is too narrow for those giant bugs to fit through. Not sure why he doesn't follow me, maybe a bug?

No, he just patrols that main chamber. You need to be better equipped. You sound like you're weak as fuck. Alternatively, get a bow and some arrows and shoot everything in your way from a safe distance. Things will get better for you when you have some magic.

Been playing 6 hours, exploration is nice but combat is awful, cant interupt enemies animations, character hit far too slow. Now i got killed and captured, it erased all my equipment and backpack, i so hate those event confiscating equipment, if only it was even tested properly...It seems like i wasted money again.

Is it too early to Fluent Gush? I am adoring this game. The game world is not empty, yet it's large enough to make survival aspects an actual thing. Things respawn so you can keep gathering, and I'm thrilled there's no fast travel game-y mechanic in that sense. The loot progression is sincerely Gothic-esque, as every little bit makes a big difference to your survival potency. When you are finally strong enough to kill 2 bandits at once it is a great feeling, and occasionally you'll find some really sweet random loot on an enemy that makes it all worth it. I don't mean to gush too hard but damn, they nailed this game. And when I say the graphics are stunning, I mean that this is the FIRST game I've played where literally *nothing* pops in graphically! Creatures spawn as far as the eye can see and look like ants in the distance, not even a single blade of grass will pop-in, you can see for miles in the distance on a clear day and the map system with no markers is brilliant as the game world is designed extremely well so you can see landmarks that help you figure out where you are. In short I'm very impressed. Surprised it is this type of quality with just a 9 or 10 person team working on it. It's a very satisfying game to my inner RPG nerd. Fluent Approved. :)

it erased all my equipment and backpack,

You should be able to find your bag again stowed away in the camp somewhere, I believe. Combat takes some getting used to, and don't forget about the stability and impact mechanics. And taking your bag off before fighting goes a long way in terms of combat reaction and confiscateability. The combat can be fun and challenging, but it's certainly not the best ARPG combat you're going to come by. AI is pretty bad at the moment. Fighting more than one opponent always gets interesting though.

Is it too early to Fluent Gush?

Take it easy there, buddy. A gush like this one is great, but don't make us blush with your wetness in gushings to come.

Don't forget that your bag will be marked on your compass as well, so if you lose it somewhere just follow the compass until you find it.
