The cutscenes and combat look like taken from 2 completely different games
The cartoon was made just for the trailer since it was cheaper to make than a 3D one.
Cutscenes looking different from in-game graphics is also completely normal. I'm starting to think that most users here don't actually play video games.

So after the Kingdom stuff in Kingmaker and the Crusade stuff in WotR, what is Rogue Trader going to have as time-wasting side content?

its not side content but unfortunately a central feature that drives gameplay

the problem is that every time it was poorly done, very barebone and on a level of a facebook idler

2d animations is more expensive to make than a 3d one, it's why animated movies nowadays are made in 3d even if they look like shit.
Fake news, 2d animation is cheaper and movies are 3d only these days because 2d movies don't sell no more for whatever reason.

2d don't sell more because corporations put a lot of marketing pressure to convince people that 3d is better because it's new and modern. 2d is more expensive because you need to animate everything by hand, essentially redrawing each frame. In 3d you build a model and then move it like a marionette.

Still fake news. A very simple google search would tell you the exact opposite. 3D animation requires more equipment and expertise, 2D animation, most of which is digital these days anyway and no longer hand drawn, requires a lot less. And that's not even the whole story. 2D animation died after Disney made that one frog movie which sold like ass (the cast was majority black).

Digital drawing is done by hand, you just do it on tablet rather than on paper:) 3d animation doesn't require more equipment and expertize, you just need blender for it.

It depends on the quality you're aiming to achieve. An incredibly cheap looking 3D cinematic trailer would look terrible on Owlcat's part, wouldn't help sell the game. They can get away with cheap 2D though, it looks good enough, does not represent the game.

Edit: consider their previous animated trailers which are even cheaper than the Rogue Trader trailer, but remain 2D

I like both the pathfinder games by Owlcat, they are the only modern CRPGs that have been able to keep my attention.
But I am not going to lie, this looks pretty bad, they needed to change up the art style for Warhammer. This looks like a scifi mod for pathfinder.

WTF are even those cutscenes...

Same vibes.
Let's hope OC doesn't get lazy but gets smart.

I played Kingmaker but not WotR.
Is the loading time in WotR significantly better?
If not, then let's hope things get better in Rogue Trader.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth

Slightly improved but still pretty annoying. Biggest issue isn't the load times themselves but the fact you hit a loading screen every 3 seconds due to Unity scenes being so small and fragmented.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I'm halfway optimistic. I've wanted a Rogue Trader CRPG for years since it's the perfect 40k premise for a ragtag murderhobo group going to places. And at the very least Owlcat can deliver on the character build porn autism and sheer game length. On the other hand I dislike how round and colorful it looks. And given how pozzed companies are these days because ESG scores and good number of their employees being spineless eunuchs, it's going to have some lame stronk woman scenes while lacking any entertaining edginess.

I'd be optimistic if they released a PR saying they fired all their old writers and hired a new team. Maybe even with Black Library authors.

But that's way too optimistic.

Uh, you don't want that. They can only get worse ones at this point.

Pro-Tip Corporation.
It's going to be great! They just need to hire guys who did SS SS2 and modders who did addons for SS. Hire Perumov too and maybe (alah forgive me!) Lukyanenko because well they are actual writers. Not sure about other ru sci fi writters if they are operational at any capacity.
Certainly this game will be better than anything biohazard and obshitian can crap out. And since BG3 is in limbo we might play RT before BG3 is out, right after DF steam comes out.
