Reached level 90 last night. Straight up farming Ultimatum 10 trials, and t15s.
Started out with bolts as a meme, they're super bad unsurprisingly, so I switched to grenades for Cruel. Using a homebrewed grenadier build that doesn't abuse the gas nade? thing that people are talking about. Running blink, wind dancer, and blasphemy (flammability) for auras.
Loved the campaign -- the pacing, the mechanics, the deliberateness, and the overall design.
But I was disappointed with the endgame being pretty much PoE1 but slower, a complete 180 turn from the campaign. You still
need "auto"-defences like high 60+ evasion/block (both buffed to also involve spell hits automatically), a large ehp pool (armour, raw ES), and 50+ chaos res (something that wasn't required in the early days of PoE1 funny enough). Giga AoE room clears are a must or else you just die due to getting swarmed.
On-death mechanics also return and are a bitch and a half especially once you start stacking additional mods on rare mobs via Atlas Passives, AKA the only real way to make real currency. Using Breach? Get those rare nodes so that your breach rares are more juiced. Using Delirium? Get those rare nodes so that your deli rares are more juiced... etc. etc.
I recommend it for first time Path of Exile players, especially just running through the campaign once; but it's gonna be really,
really mixed for veterans.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention the whole build diversity thing. Everything feels cookie cutter, especially the way how the passive tree is structured AND having most skills locked behind weapons/entire archetypes pretty much. The combo/enabler gameplay doesn't help either.
There are no "highways" for you to use so you can traverse to a different side of the tree with minimal points. There are so many filler nodes that branch to practically useless singular trees in your way that it's almost always not worth pathing for something original.
