Hi Codex long time lurker, first time poster here.

Been playing Kingmaker at the moment. I like the game so far, but I am really luke warm on the whole Kingdom-Management-thing. I heard that researching curses gives you some decisions later in the game especially with Nyrissa, but is it necessary? I see no bonuses and it takes up a lot of time to research.

not necessary if you dont want nyrissa ending.
theres more than a dozen of them and doing them early gimps your divine and arcane stat a lot

Thanks!
I will develop those stats for now, maybe later on it is possible to do them on the side.

As far as curse research is concerned, it's all or nothing. To reach the Nyrissa ending, you need to have researched most of them (13 out of 16, if I remember correctly) and there are several other conditions (you'll have to pick the correct dialogue options in several discussions).

If you're not aiming for that ending, I'd suggest ignoring curse research entirely. The bonuses it gives are not worth the time it requires.

If you're aiming for that ending, you should try to unlock the Magister as soon as possible. Don't bother with curses before you have ; your High Priest should focus on raising your Divine score (and it's quicker to do that by having him take care of Problems/Opportunities).

Thanks. I assumed, because of the abundance of curses, that they factor into other things as well.

I've tried to convince myself to play this game multiple times. It's obviously popular here, and I'd likely love the gameplay mechanics.

My first-impression of the companions set off alarm bells though...
  • The strongest melee damage dealer is a stick-figure-girl (with a sword that's larger than her body).
  • The strongest tank is another stick-figure-girl.
  • The mage is a girl who's fucking an orc (I'm excepting a few re-ta-dreds for mentioning this).
  • No masculine white companions.
  • Silly cartoon companions like Nok-Nok and Tartuccio.
1) I don't like it when RPG settings are whimsical, with too much comic relief. Is that the case with this game?
2) Does the game go overboard with the SJW-signaling crap? I wouldn't mind some of the above points, but collectively they seem like decline.

I'd like to avoid the fate of buying this game, spending hours delving into the character creation and gameplay mechanics, then quitting due to constant story/dialogue annoyances and regretting giving the devs my money.

On the the other hand, I might be an autist, and the things I'm concerned about might be trivial to the game. I'd hate to miss out on a great RPG.

What did you expect? Most settings based on dnd are ridiculous kitchen sink over the top fantasies, not a place to look for realism. The huge sword girl is not dev made anyway and taken directly from the tabletop source material.

I hate it too, could never get into divinity because of that. It's fine with pathfinder, I wish it could be darker but it's not whimsical. Since your kingdom is barraged by constant threats there are few opportunities for lighthearted humor. Avoid Nok-Nok and you should be fine, believe it or not, he was even more rediculous originally with retarded romance subplot.

It's made by ruskies and they don't care about shit like that in the cold county. There are probably some but I really didn't notice any.

They do - unlocks some buildings and region upgrades - but it’s an underdeveloped part of the game. Once you get your teleportation circles down you can fool around with them.

It’s a set-up/intended to get past the censors. Rest of game subverts it.

I tried playing this trash yesterday after many attempts. I uninstalled. It is so fucking boring garbage. You need to literally be a certified autist to play this game and pretend to enjoy it. There are so many things wrong with it.

On paper, it is a great re-creation of tabletop. On paper. But there are 2 issues with it:

1) Tabletop needs a live DM and other people to enjoy, single player is garbage
2) This is a video game, many things on the tabletop don't make sense in video game form.

For example, why the fuck do i need to camp a billion times between each travel, doing the same busywork with the camp and waiting for many seconds for this shit to end? "ooooooooh i am speeeerg it is soooo realiiiiistiiiiiiiccc" BULL-SHIT. Every single fucking time i have to travel somewhere to do a single quest (because God forbid if quests were bundled together on the same location, oooooo nooooo you have to travel to the opposite side of the world for each minor side quest) i have to be interrupted every 10 seconds with the same bullshit camping busywork. Muh e-mershon

The whole game is so freaking slow. Characters are retarded cliches. I don't like a single person in my party. All are annoying. I played a Paladin but i would gladly turn Chaotic Evil and behead my party and offer their heads to whatever satanic deity Pathfinder has. That's how annoying they were. At least that would be an interesting story, a Paladin turned Antichrist. Would be more fun than Pathfinder's writting for sure.

I uninstalled and read about the plot in wikipedia. And i was like "WTF"? This story is the most garbage RPG story i have read in years. I mean, people make fun of Larian's writing and somehow Cuckmaker gets a free pass?
I mean, you have to get the secret macguffin that was stolen from the nymphs heart so she can't love no more, but if you steal it from some other dimension and then enter her dreams and put it back in place she can love again?
Are there little ponies and carebears as well?

It is not a bad game, right now it is mostly fixed and has reached a beta state that is playable after 2 years of patching, but seeing the reception it got here i expected something so much more. People who think this has anything on Baldur's Gate are delusional. Owlcat has to up their game with the sequel.

I'm very into cock and ball torture
I'll need to first figure out how much gold I will need for Kingdom management. Anyways, time to spend the whole day figuring out Stag Lord. I got a couple of ideas for beating him.

I've been reading up on the companions to see if I can overcome my distaste for them, and plan what kind of party I'd go for if I risk investing time in this game.

At this point I don't see how anyone can justify having a party with anyone except for Harrim and Jaethal. The rest seem like absolute cancer.

Jumping to conclusions makes you look like an idiot. This is a statement with general applicability.

Yes, which is applicable to you, since you jumped to conclusions. So you are looking like an idiot right now.

I have played cuckmaker for several hours, not just 3 or 4. I didn't finish it but one does not have to play a game for 200 hours before he can understand if that game sucks or not. After all, the game won't improve in any way until the end, it is more of the same i have already played. I read about the retardo-storyline it has. I met the retardo-companions. What else is there?

The game is shit, and the general consensus about the game (73 on metacritic and a pretty similar user score) is on point. The game is very mediocre.

You sound like the retards complaining they can't choose their pronounce in game.
Did it bother you that Khalid and Jaheira were married, or that Safana flirted with every male and his hamster?

These games are not dating sims, romances are optional and take absolutely negligible amount of time.
In my 150+ hours in PKM it took me like 30 seconds total to navigate their dialogs for options stopping any and all unwanted advances fist time they happened.

There are no better spiritual successor to the IE games at the moment.
Inability to cope with a foxy half-elf chick preferring a greenskin chad over your alter-ego is the most retarded reason to not play this game.

What's wrong with the rest? A bit curious about superficial opinion and outside perspective.

Superficial 1st impressions:
  • Amiri: "She left her homeland and went to search for her destiny to fight against the patriarchy and fight for social justice" + Wants to be a man.
  • Ekundayo doesn't actually sound that bad. But he seems very emo, and has the typical cliché backstory ("monsters killed my family and I'm out for vengeance"). Probably my 3rd choice (but unlikely to mix well with Harrim & Jaethal).
  • Jubilost: Sounds like an insufferable manlet in need of a good beating. Also sounds like a comic relief character.
  • Octavia: Polyamorous orc-fucker who looks like Felicia Day.
  • Regongar: Actually not that bad, on 2nd glance. But he sounds one-dimensional, and I think he wants you to fuck his wife while he joins in. :?
  • Valerie: The stick-figure tank, wants to be a man. "With her I feel protected, for she's a rock to cling to." - I might just throw up.
  • Tristan: Limp-wristed m'lady guy.
  • Linzi: Seems like an insufferably cute comic relief character.
  • Nok-Nok: Another comic relief character, seems cartoony.
If I had to choose I'd probably go with Harrim, Ekundayo, Regognar, and Jaethal, if they mix.
