Oh for God's sake, I've started playing this again. Someone stop me :)

Got a new Depths crew firing up. Putting Wrath on hold until next beta.

"I wonder what this Lonely Barrow location is, I'll hit it on the way back to the captial from the goat quest" -Level 6 Baron with level 5 party

"This is getting tougher and tougher, I better head out to rest since I didn't bring rations"

"Oh, ooooooh no"

Beat the golems but the Lonely Warrior fight was impossible at my level of resource depletion (and probably anyway considering how fast the archers brought down my MC's mirror images). Snuck past him and left that fight for another day.

Was a nice change of pace to clear the entire map where you help David Livingstone without any pre-buffing and only one casting of Grease.

Goat quest?

Sorrowfield, rushed to get Treasurer before Jubi.
I'm playing (somewhat) blind so there was no rushing, didn't know Kanerah could be treasurer and I subsequently ran into Jubi by accident. Actually passed over that location going to the Verdant Chambers since I decided to try it solo because the game told me it would be really stupid to do that.

Just played Varnhold's lot, it reminded me of everything I disliked in this game.
Encounter after encounter of annoying enemies wearing you down.

I can't decide if the game giving you a wizard and a rogue only to take them away halfway through the final dungeon, leaving you without spells or lockpicking unless you foresaw it happening is funny or complete and utter horseshit.

If you play the companions they gave you you can make it to the end (they give you the glasses so you can still identify stuff). If you didn't then you break it you buy it. If the enemies are annoying and wearing you down then try a lower difficulty until you feel like you've mastered them.

It isn't that it is tough to win all the encounters it is that is is boring. The encounter design doesn't sink up well with the ttrpg design of the game mechanics.

I mean the journal entry explicitly says "I don't like the sound of this" so you should expect trouble and then why would you listen to Nyrissa and come alone unless you are a contrarian looking for a challenge? Nyrissa then laughs at you for being naïve enough to actually come alone so I assumed the intended path was to go there with a full party.

Traveling alone means no resting and no stops along the way, so I missed the Jubi encounter.

It does at the proper difficulty level.

Reloading for different rolls is what doesn’t match up with ttrpg where there is no reload. Play at a difficulty where you don’t need to reload.

Jub doesn’t spawn until Ch 2 starts, then you get a red exclamation point to go there. Verdant doesn’t spawn unless you are alone so going with full party does nothing.

I didn't see any exclamation point at Jubi's location and I thought Verdant Chambers were Ch2 as well? Didn't it start immediately after the coronation ceremony?

Interesting that you actually had to go alone, makes sense that they put in the overly helpful "bring invisibility potions retard" line then.

No, you get a couple weeks to get acclimated before Ch 2 starts right after the first Bald Hilltop. You have to turn on location names to see the exclamation points. No reason to hurry to Verdant.

You can (should really) get Jubi before there's an exclamation mark there, you get the tower first. That mark was added later.

I have names on, there wasn't an exclamation mark AFAIK.

My route since getting my title has been VC -> Bokken -> Bald Hilltop -> Sorrowfield -> Lonely Barrow -> Jubi -> Lumberjack/Fey dispute -> Troll ambush of Merchant

Just got the BH update from Tristan and Jhod and am about to head into the Narlemarches to find hermit wizard and pick up tree restoring Macguffins (because MC is a NATURE RESPECTING Elf and I failed both persuasion/intimidation checks due to rolling <5 twice) and then look for the Troll fort.

Jub and Ekun get exclamations as soon as you get page for Ch 2 (90% sure trigger for that is Bald Hilltop). You can clear those areas before they spawn (just like you can go to Old Sycamore before Tomb and Tart won’t be there yet.

They don't, when Ch2 starts you're told to go south, that's it. No exclamations for Jub and Ekun.

I think there's one more trigger other than Tomb to unlock Tart at Sycamore, pretty sure I went there after Tomb and he wasn't there.

You're clearly both wrong, Desiderius has played the game more than any of us so he has to be right and you have to be wrong. Both of you. And me, because I distinctly remember that there was no exclamation point, too.

Oh and we're all dipshits for contradicting him, probably

Jub comes a bit later, usually after Kresten notified you that there are trolls sighting and you need to find Bartholomew.

I am not sure if you can get Ekun before Jub.

The pertinent part is there are no quest exclamations for either of them at that point.

My archive saves fall too far either side of this event for me to check quickly, and I don't give enough of a shit to replay an hour's worth of content to prove it. But I distinctly remember remarking to myself that it was surprising that Jubilost's introductory scene had spawned in that area without it notifying me with a 'New stuff here!' alert. (Since I'd previously visited it) Memory is fallible, so I may be remembering it wrong, but that is how I remember it.

I had a save handy and checked, Jub spawns when TT officially begins (Kesten talk), no quest mark on the ford.

did you enter the ford before he spawns?
