Btw, someone noted the absence of Grease as an odd omission, earlier in the thread. Later someone mentioned that they still hadn't found any robes.

Here's maybe another one: Has anyone seen any slings? It's a pretty iconic DnD/PF weapon and it fulfills functions no other basic weapon(s) do, but I still haven't seen one.

You won't be using a full plate with Valerie at level 2 though. Even if you bought it for her (and there are better ways to spend your early money - like getting a good custom character) with her 14STR she would crumble under the combined weight of a full plate + tower shield.
Idk, i want to finish game with full content at least once. And, no - she will no crumble and there are hardly better options to spend money.

On a tower shield specialist with reasonable starting stats and feats compared to Valerie:
- switch Toughness and Bastard Sword proficiency for Dodge and Heavy Armor focus = +2AC. On a tank you want to stack AC not a few more HP and she is not meant to be a primary damage dealer so that bastard sword is pointless, use a longsword instead.
She already starts with Dodge. And Toughness, while questionable, still makes some sense considering the fact that you are not getting max hp per level up.
Bastard sword is really fucking dumb though, i agree.

In addition with levels she could use even more DEX for AC but because her STR is so low you might want to raise that first which means that with levels the difference between Valerie's AC and a min-maxed Tower Shield specialist's AC will be even bigger later on.
Still not 6 or 7 points difference but even 3AC early is a big difference.
She could use a lot of things, like -8 points to charisma and -2 to INT with buffs to STR/DEX instead, true. But then she would not be Valerie - just random statbot #17532 instead.
She will be constantly at heavy load. Though I suppose in P:K it might not be such a big deal.
As to spending money - sure if you don't want to use custom mercs then yes. But some other people will want to make custom mercs and from that perspective, buying a custom merc is the better investment at this stage.

Then not dodge but shield focus, same result.

The point is that Valerie will be a few AC below a well built char of her specialization and deal less damage at the same time. Her stats from "roleplaying" perspective is a different matter and not something I was talking about answering your posts. But if you really insist on talking about that - this a combat focused game with overtuned enemies compared to pnp. It is not that unreasonable to expect NPCs to match that.

And finally even from ropleplaying perspective her stats aren't that well done if you think about it. I mean, where does the 19 CON comes from in her backstory? She isn't supposed to be a female Conan (and even the actual female Conan only has 16). I think it would make much more sense to move some CON (at the very least the odd point) somewhere else. From BOTH mechanic AND writing/roleplaying perspective.

What's a good fighting style to complement Monster Tactician's summons? Ranged, s&b or pure caster?
Longbow is great, 'reach' weapons are great too. Inquisitors are so-so casters because they are a 6/9 casting class and because they have a divine (and so mainly supportive) spellset. Meanwhile, the free team feats makes them decent combat casters.

This game would be near-perfect if it had turn-based combat. They've done a really good job with everything else.
It would have been a more faithful implementation of the base ruleset than ToEE, if it had been turn based, honestly. And it would have been a LOT better game than rtwp.

Rogue gets free finesse and then grace for one qualifying weapon without non-dualwield clause or even a penalty like 2 weapon grace does in PnP as a class feature on Lv 3. You read that right, Owlcats go out their way to make rogue good.
The 'changes' of the rogue are a direct implementation of the Unchained Rogue in pathfinder. Unchained classes are a 'patched' version of some other, older classes (barbarian got slightly nerfed in its damage capabilities but got a flexibility buff, monk got a massive buff, summoner (which is a pathfinder class) got a slight nerf, and rogue got this buff) that weren't up to the golden standard in flexibility/power. So basically: it's rules-as-written in pathfinder.

About slings: There are - so far that i've found - no slings, but someone posted the image of the two-handed, exotic sling, which afaik is some kind of halfing cultural weapon.
About custom npc: Going by standard wbl, you literally can't afford even a single one of them, ever.
About Valerie: She's shit, full stop. The fact that enemies are dumb enough for her to be useful is not a good enough justification.

Didn't someone ask if there were slings earlier in the thread?

Comparing concurrent users peaks is pointless because Kingmaker didn't have release hype and reviews to generate a peak. While still not perfect, the amount of Steam reviews would be a better metric. Deadfire has 2472 reviews, while Kingmaker already has 1710. If we assume owners of both games are equally inclined to leave a review, that means it will only be a matter of days before Kingmaker sales exceed Deadfire's lifetime sales. :slamdunk:

not to mention the "story reason" she has high charisma is because of her beauty
which if you do her personal quest...

I feel like skeletons are hard to hit but have low HP, so spamming Damage Undead channels gets rid of them easily enough. Or heal 'em.

e: I wish they'd remove aoe spells after a battle. Damn webs. :argh:

she has high charisma because she was a paladin and paladins have high charisma. too bad they switched her to something that never ever uses it

This talk of rogue being not shit got me thinking.
Would this be any good: a rogue with dirty trick (to set up sneak attacks), agile maneuvers (dex modifier used in cmb), shield bash, bashing finish (free attack on weapon crit, more sneak attacks) and wielding a rapier with critical focus (high crit range).
Needs lots of feats, ac and ab would be meh.

How many chapters are there btw? Is the third one (Vanishing of your neighbour) - last?
There was suppose to be 6, and some more which is created by the game dev instead of the table top game.

However the third chapter is season of bloom, not sure about which chapter the "vanishing of your neighbour" is.

2 Chapter Combines 6 Other World and Chapter 2 Monster Invasion, Chapter 3 Is Varnhold Vanishing Chapter 4 seems it Will Include Chapter 4 With Barbarians being included Alongside new Content Which is pretty Spoilerific i suggest you take Tristan With you when you got Into LichTomb. well see about other chapters.

So, tested some shit with cheat engine - your party members can get frightened if you transform in dragon form 3 as DD10.. Also you can cast in dragon form... Cast Bull strength-Dragon form-Dragon form - tenzer transformation. Get 32 Atacks roll, unlimeted breath weapons. With one dip at grenadier - it all stacks! Plus add haste and enlarge for extra borked damage rolls!
Oh yeah don't forget belt of STR... gear melds in too!

Monks Got Fucking Spells At Higher levels Something along the line of 15D10 being Top spell, when they are Melee chars. and Sorcerors Dragon Breath is OP as fuck With 90 Degree Cone and Insane Damage, I did custom sorc and he Got Stag Lord to 1/3 of HPs just by that alone.

Also Stag Lord Helmet turns you into Alcoholic, It gives you Stags Lord Drinking Idle animation. Also Props On them allowing you to get fucking Trolls as Soldiers and Lich Should be gettable as Advisor if you are evil and Fuck over Varn.

Anyone know if there's a way to have a second hotbar? My mage has filled all the available slots, and these pop up sub menus are pissing me off.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Can you make an evil Cleric that can spontaneously cast Inflict Wounds and then go with Jaethal? Seems like a good alternative to Valerie.

You definitely can. IMO, as someone using Jaethal as a tank in one run-through, the biggest problem is that in-combat healing is a lot easier/more convenient with potions than with spells or (better yet) a combination of the two. As Jaethal doesn't get potions that heal her, it's harder to keep her going in fights with high dps. (Yes, she can also inflict wounds on herself, albeit at the cost of an action and a possible AoO unless/until she has feats/abilities to mitigate the latter) Still not sure if that penalty outweighs her immunities and teamwork bonuses as an inq.

Btw, the Lvl 0 Cantrip of Clerics, Guidance, is supposed to give +1 Competence to a single skill check that you make within 1 minute.

In fact, it simply gives +1 Competence to all skills for 1 minute. It may not be much, but it's still good to know, especially in areas with a lot of traps.
