Isn't Ember like literally a little girl? As in severely underage?

If she's a companion, and a little girl, that means she can be killed. If she can be killed, it means you can kill children in game. Does that mean game will be banned in Germany? :shitposting:

Little girl is Rhin from Numa. Ember is probably just a case of overly protective writer who couldn't stomach people putting their dirty hands on their character. You're supposed to only romance cannibals. Deal with it. :drink:

what owlcats don't understand is that if they won't do a job, modders will, and they will make it much, much worse.

I vaguely remember she's a child whose soul was transferred into an elf's body? The problem with underage sex isn't necessarily the underdeveloped body, rather the potential for emotional, psychological, and physical damage, and the lack of plausible consent.

Ember was born in Kyonin the same year the Worldwound was opened.

For many years, her father spoke passionately about joining the crusade, believing it a noble deed and a duty to be shared by all. One fateful day, he took Ember and traveled straight to Kenabres, but instead of being welcomed with open arms into the crusade’s ranks, the strange elves were taken for demons’ servants. The inquisitors were alerted and tried to burn father and daughter at the stake. A paladin rescued Ember from the flames, but her skin and her mind have never been the same since. She has forever remained a child, innocent but wise. All these years she has lived the life of a beggar on the streets of Kenabres with her crow familiar, Soot.

This would be 4606. Wrath of the Righteous takes place during 4713, so she's 107 years old and would be an adult if not for that "she has forever remained a child" thing. In other words https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/is-aerie-from-bg2-underage.134261

Yeah I just googled it now too, I seem to have remembered it wrong. I thought she was literally a child. As for whether she's underage in elf years, eh.

It depends on the case. I don't think it's inappropriate to date traumatized people end of discussion, I actually like 'em a bit traumatized because it makes them more interesting and with a more complicated worldview, but if they are like mentally still children yeaaah no. I don't think anyone who isn't arguing in bad faith will say that dating mentally challenged adults who are basically still children is ok.

I will just LARP that we were married but she forgot. Or that we are now in platonic relationship or good friendship but after game we marry.

Then again I am probably playing female bard kitsune turned into fey pixie girl. So not sure.

A good platonic friendship path with daughteru is better than bad romance with a waifu. For her in particular I'd probably like to play a male lich instead who turns out to be a better person than rest of humanity. It's like romance books for women in the subway you can buy.

The thing is there are some outright EVIL companions with all capital letters in WotR party.
Camellia is a murderous shizzo that gets off killing and fucking corpses. Is romanceable.
Wenduag is monstrous cannibal that worships demons. Is romanceable.
Arueshalae is an ex murderer, corruptor, child eater and god knows what else. Is romanceable.

4chan asked devs if Ember - the pure and innocent, supposedly teenage elf (no idea how elf age works) girl will be romanceable. They said no and told the guy who asked the question to seek help. I don't get it.

Trying desperately to get all you simps to man up.

why? you seem to have no issue being their surrogate father :positive:

Because they deserve more than a surrogate. Or maybe they don't in which case you're owning yourself and your genetic seppuku is just fine.

In any case good fathers (and the beneficiaries thereof) make good soldiers and good soldiers make good neighbors and friends so I have a legitimate interest. As do you.

The subtext of all my comments on this matter (and P:K too) is "This is how I fucked up. Fuck up less."

In a weird way I think the game has promise to it if people are already this invested in the companion characters before its even released

I love how Desiderius lives in an imaginary world, it's genuinely adorable.

My son is laying right here with his head on my chest sleeping.

Nothing like it.

He is in fact adorable. Also perfectly real. I think we all know who’s living in her imaginary world.

I feel like there's confusion between crazy and traumatized in this thread. There's also crazy crazy (yeah, Anastasia, she killed herself), which is just sad. My ex let's say boyfriend was/is clinically depressed and tried to jump off his apartment building like twice. I just helplessly watched as all life and enthusiasm from his eyes just slowly slipped away and he turned into a walking husk. I hope he's better now because I really can't tell, especially since I don't see him in person as often due to me living in a different country and all. The crazy ones are those with the scissors from which you should stay far away. Traumatized are the best because they've endured and through that have become more complex people.

Reminds me of Bioshock Infinite where lead made main heroine a sexy disney loli in corset and 90% of the plot it seemed like it may end up in romantic relationship and then was terrified of amount of hentai made of her. "Terrible! I think of her as my daughter!"
And Owlcats specifically draw into Bioware audience to the boot.

You want child character, protecc and adoration, unique meta and interesting abilities, again, look no further than Rhin from Numa. Well there's also Myron but he's not a very, uh, positive example :M

Here's a hot take - don't try to romance lolis, your proxy daughters, mentally 9-year-olds, legally debatables, sisters (Imoen), etc.
