So, apparently Ulbrig (datamines):

Is someone from Old Sarkoris who got lost in the fey world and was transported forward in time. He also thinks he's on a crusade against fey.

Hopefully this fucker reacts hard to a Trickster playthrough given that it makes a mockery of everything he should hold dear. Hell, I could see him being even more pissed off at Trickster than Regill, who's remarkably civil about it.
It's somewhat odd to me to have that as the backstory for a shapeshifter since screwing around with your own form strikes me as inherently chaotic and possibly fey-like.

Not that big of a deal, it's just my $.02.
There's a bit of an ongoing theme in the pathfinder setting where druidic magic and its ways are on the backfoot against arcane magic and urban society. Gods like Erastil helped the humans survive the dark days after Earthfall. In the times since then the humans managed to rediscover ancient arcane magic, at times blending it with powers of nature. Avistan in particular has the kellids continuously losing space to old empires like Taldor and Cheliax, or being changed irrevocably like in Numeria. Old Sarkoris was that final breath of the old world, a decentralized nation of clans lead by shamans and druids, one which deeply distrusted arcane magic. Not just because of the magic itself, but its users tend to be empire building usurpers.

Now, where the fey enter the picture is a bit ambivalent. On one hand, fey beings such as nymphs, satyrs and dryads often make common cause with druids in protecting forests. You see that in Taldor and Andoran. On the other, any point of contact between the fey world and the mortal plane is traumatic to both sides. Mortals have to fend against magic that they don't understand. For the fey it can also be disconcerting when the mortal world's laws impose themselves on their lives. Imagine that every sunday you enjoy walking down the lane to have a dinner with your grandkids 20 years in the future, but all of a sudden that makes no sense for some reason.

I'd imagine that as far as the Sarkorians were concerned fey and their magic is as suspicious to them as arcane magic. It is often times arcane in nature. But regardless,

fey can be amoral assholes and it seems they fucked with ulbrig for an undisclosed amount of time

there is a succumbus upstairs, she is invisible at the start of the combat. she joins after you get rushed from the rapier and shield entralled crusaders.
You are mixing up the fight outside the house (which I called "upstairs") and inside.

That's the fight I was talking about. The one inside Tirabade Residence. My party was Level 5ish, but it was at the tail end of the adventuring day. I had very few spells remaining other than my last emergency Glitterdust and Grease, which was perfect. It wasn't a deadly fight, just one of attrition. The Alchemist was much more brutal, as I again was running on vapors and didn't have a scroll of Communal Protection Against Acid...just one against fire, lol.

The amount of gay fawning over this guy's physique on Reddit is honestly fucking repellent
And here I was hoping the Pathfinder playerbase would finally get the positive male role model they desperately need.
They just did.

Well, I spoiled it to myself so you can call it "having meta knowledge". I knew that those small locations are not time critical, so I did them while waiting for the tavern defence. And, as the result, I was resting more.

I had to rest to take down the Nabassu. I was reasonably fresh and buffed, but I was out of Daeran's channel divinity. I figured I needed it. Once I had that back, the ghouls and the Nabassu were dispatched with haste.

Is this better than kingmaker
Yes but the additional game modes i.e. the crusade shit is just as dogshit as the kingdom management stuff in Kingmaker ever was.

I finished it yesterday and honestly I was just fast-forwarding through all of Act 5 because I was completely sick of the game by that point. I enjoyed the build-porn aspects and challenging the optional bosses, and many of the Aeon story beats were top-notch. But Wrath suffers from nearly all of the shit design decisions that plagued Kingmaker and it's absolutely exhausting to complete a playthrough.

only if they have added a skald and a druid companion, with ubrich and a barb mc you could roleplay the restoration of old sarkoris by booting both deamons and the crusade out.

If I were to add a restoration of Old Sarkoris storyline to Wrath I might have made it a possible part of Legend. Other mythics are too likely to change the place irreversibly. But Legend is all about being yourself and casting off otherworldly influence. You could rally more barbarian / shaman / druid armies when rebuilding the army for chapter 5, in so doing you get a restored Sarkoris as people return to it.

That said lots of people like to run druid Lann. I could see the run working regardless.

Finally got around to Playful Darkness on Unfair.

Decided to (mostly) solo him with Seelah:

Seelah Tank 112 AC vs Playful.jpg

A little overkill. First the set-up:

Symbol vs Playful.jpg

Can cast this without starting the fight. Seelah can then start fight with Charge to turn on Fighting Defensively and get a surprise round.

Sosiel Dispel, Greater vs Playful.jpgDebuffed Unfair Darkness.jpg

Time to get two Dispels in and Big Game Gloves for Sicken. Seelah has UMD for Frightful Shaken after Heroism, Greater is Dispelled.

Selah Set-up:

Seelah Tank setup.jpgSeelah Mythic Tank.jpg

One level of TSS for Tower Shield prof + bonus feat if you want to get to Shatter. Take once you get to camp and can buy +3 Tower. One level of Trad Monk (+2 Will) for Crane and Monk Robe eligibility. Pick up anytime after getting Mark.

TTT gives nice Mythics for tanks, letting you focus characters for different roles. Seelah starts out with two tank feats so works well to help her fulfill designer's vision.

Seelah tank AC buffs 1.jpg

Perfect Prediction is Aeon Spell, but Foresight give +2 (as does Inspiring Command) for non-Aeon. Half of the Pair drops from Devarra. Order of the Godclaw bonus doubles with Ring of Triumphant Advance (Morale AC is rare).

Reg has three Domains (Nobility, Travel, and Law) all at Swift in addition to the Godclaw Aura which stacks with everything. HK does *not* suck not close.

Seelah tank ac buffs 2.jpg

A couple mods that give you some additional options. There are other sources of Nat Armor but six is a lot (and I think Seelah getting this one is an artifact of Bubble Buff since Iomedae shouldn't get Animal Domain). The Distracting Shot isn't great when I'm already using MC Standard Action for Big Game Gloves Quarry. Next level that goes to Free (and stacking +4) so it will get better. Erastil's Distracting Shot appears to be bugged and only giving +2 instead of +4. Good action econ for turns with no Full if working properly.

Tank Seelah using Trickster Mask.jpg

Here's a shot from an earlier (successful) attempt where the fight was triggered early and PD got surprise. You can see the DLC Trickster Mask letting flat-footed Seelah survive an Unfair PD Full Attack.

Taking care of Secret Fane after PD:

Fane Secret skill chks.jpg

Nice to have a Slayer MC to blowout skill checks without needing short term buffs.

Mobility save vs Fane swarms.jpg

Mobility saving the Mount too. 4 lvl 27 Swarms on Unfair.

Seelah Fort save fail vs swarms.jpg

Of course Seelah is the only one who fails a save vs Gibber/Distraction. Can see here missing short term buffs burned on PD.

Nenio 18 weird 41 vs swarms.jpg

Welp, forgot to equip the Greater Penetrating Rod on Nenio. This could get dicey. Doesn't help that Swarms are only thing in game immune to Archon's Aura (now have 3 up with Mythic Evo on Sos and Seelah).

Van Aeon 18 swarm atk page 1.jpgVan Aeon 18 swarm atk page 2.jpgVan Aeon Swarm atk page 3.jpg

Never mind. This is one full atk from Aeon MC riding Bismuth. Starting to hit the point where Aeon gets absurd.

Storming the Humble Abode:

Unfair Abode Opening Van Aeon18.jpg

You can Door up to the middle to start fight, but the guys in the back aren't mind/fear-immune while the Gallu slaves and a couple of the archers are, so those are bigger threat. Aeon MC goes for them first. Hare Familiar Advanced Slayer Talent and Improved Initiative (Mythic) plus Inspirational Leader on Reg makes sure she gets the jump.

Unfair Abode Bismuth opening.jpg

With Animal Growth Bismuth can reach Archers on second level. It was at this point I realized I was missing True Seeing, Communal (had resepecced Lann from Drovier to Nomad since Druid DCs weren't high enough for Unfair). Doh!

Unfair Abode Seelah opener.jpg

Seelah goes to tank the Enslaver group. She's wearing the Relic Ring that gives knockback and Prone (no save) on first hit. Lann set it up with Big Game Gloves + Quarry. Pal 16 unlocks Brilliant Energy Divine Weapon Bond. Mounted Seelah can't do this. She also has Improved Initiative (Mythic) to get Fighting Defensively up.

Unfair Abode Bulwark Indomitable.jpg

Mounted Combat Feat is good to prevent crits from random adds, but Gallu isn't random. Indomitable Mount does make the Save though. Lann's Mount has the Bulwark pet build which may have saved him here with the DR/- kicking in prior to Unfair doubling.

Unfair Abode Lann 74 AB.jpg

Lann forgot to turn on Deadly Aim so not great damage (and no Ever Ready). You can see Archers have been attacking Reg more than meat shields but he's holding on.

Unfair Abode Sosiel whacking Gallu.jpg

Sosiel is set up to be Evoker/Dispeller but mobs here have very high Reflex so just whack the Gallu instead. Unlucky not to get a crit chain with Advantage and Improved Crit.

Unfair Abode Bismuth doing work with Trip.jpg

Bismuth with the Unfair Gallu Trip. Stronk!

Unfair Abode Nenio Weird.jpg

Nenio combined Persistent Putrefaction (for WIS drain) and Weird to clear out back room.

Unfair Abode Enslaver Stunned.jpg

Not sure what stunned Enslaver but nobody in backroom ever got a turn (other than the one the Kinnies burned Gathering Power).

Unfair Abode Lann Nomad Crit.jpg

Lann clearing out the adds. Definite step up in damage from Drovier (would be significantly higher with Deadly Aim). White Dragon armor appears to not be triggering for some reason (he has Enforced Vigor Mythic).

Unfair Abode Reg Dimensional Hop.jpg

Can see Reg using Dimensional Hop (at Swift from Domain Zealot) to get a Full Attack in on Enslaver. Godclaw Order can pick up three Domains. Getting Unfair Enslaver down to 26 AC is pretty nice.

Unfair Abode Nenio Persistent Putrefaction.jpg

Nenio pretty great at taking out the trash so everyone else can focus on spiking bosses and things like initiative and saves.

Unfair Abode Finish.jpg

Finishing blow. Probably didn't need the meatshields but they did reduce variance, make up for brain farts like forgetting True Seeing.

Well done!
That's a nasty fight!
One of the toughest IMO (if not the toughest - I guess depending on the party composition).

What's Lann class? Ranger?
Would be more damage with Deadly Aim.. but question whether he'd land all shots like that with it...

Nomad gets full pet and PBM for free. Only cost is being restricted to Horse and Archery combat style (which in practice means using a melee weapon until lvl 5 or 6). You can see in the pix that he has AB to burn for Deadly Aim thx to Fav enemy. Can also Quarry if needed.

Wanted an additional Quarry source (for Big Game Gloves) to free up Standard Action on MC Slayer. When Improved Quarry kicks in things will get absurd since he’s also the Bane of Spirit applier.

Shifter – a new class
Hello, crusaders!

The Last Sarkorians DLC
adds a
new Shifter class
to Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. But what can it do?

A shifter is someone you’d want to bring into a fight with you.
Full Base Attack Bonus
progression,
sharp claws
that improve as their owner levels up, and
adding a bonus from wisdom
ability score to their
AC
can make shifter a formidable foe. Additionally, shifters can enhance themselves with various
animal aspects
and by assuming a form of a specific animal, when they gain access to major forms. At 3rd level, a shifter ignores movement penalties caused by difficult terrain, is immune to the entangled condition, and gains a +2 bonus to AC against attacks of opportunity.
10 animal forms
are available for a shifter, and some archetypes have their own unique forms.

ca142cc638cbea0cec4e762d5f4fb49f49e09701.jpg

You will be able to choose one of the following archetypes for this class: Child of the Manticore, Dragonblood Shifter, Feyform Shifter, Fiendish Shifter, Rageshaper, and Wild Effigy.

Child of the Manticore
, as the name suggests, allows you to play as a descendant of a manticore. Instead of shifter claws, a child of the manticore grows spikes, which they can throw, performing a natural throwing ranged attack. The damage from these spikes increases with the shifter’s level, and you get better and better at overcoming damage reduction. Starting at 4th level, you can turn into a real manticore. This form grants you a speed bonus of +10 feet, the Scent ability, and four natural throwing ranged attacks with spikes. At 9th level, the child of the manticore gains immunity to ground-based effects and a +4 bonus on damage rolls with natural attacks.

36d79fa72026078ad0ecceb0737587e4474dd18e.jpg

Dragonblood Shifter
gains Draconic Aspect instead of animal aspects. Draconic Aspect abilities provide resistances and deal a type of damage based on the chosen dragon type. Additionally, whenever the dragonblood shifter prevents damage with either the resistance or the immunity provided by their Draconic Aspect ability, they heal a number of hit points equal to the amount of damage prevented. Starting at 9th level, they can become a medium dragon-like creature. In this form, they get bonuses to Constitution and Strength, a +4 form natural armor bonus to AC, immunity to difficult terrain, and Dragon’s Breath weapon.

1b3ada8851300c047cd82cfadb03429f06c03d56.jpg

Feyform Shifter
gains Fey Aspect, which grants them butterfly-like wings and damage reduction from all weapons, except cold iron, which increases with levels. Starting at 4th level, a feyform shifter can turn into a large fey creature – an ankou. While in this form, the feyform shifter can make sneak attacks, as the rogue ability of the same name, using their shifter level as their effective rogue level for the purpose of determining damage. They also get rogue talents, evasion, and an inherent bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects that improves with levels. At 20th level, the feyform shifter becomes resistant to movement-impairing effects and gains spell resistance equal to 10 + their class level.

c46f9ae8e77656c15040611b8311cae593e70b9b.jpg

Fiendish Shifter
will be a boon to the crusade: starting at 1st level, their infernal claws overcome the damage reduction of any evil outsiders. Fiendish Resilience grants the fiendish shifter a natural armor bonus to their AC, which increases at 4th, 12th, and 20th levels, and resistance to electricity and fire, which also improve with levels. Instead of animal aspects, this archetype gains Fiendish Aspect, which grants a gore attack, wings, and DR against non-good attacks, which improves with levels.

Rageshaper
gains Devastating Form instead of animal aspects. This ability is similar to barbarian’s rage, but the shifter grows one category larger. While in this state, the rageshaper can perform a Ground Slam, which knocks down the enemies within 20 feet around them and deals bludgeoning damage. Instead of growing claws, this shifter gets Terrible Slam, which allows them to punch enemies with powerful slam attacks that deal bludgeoning damage. At 2nd level, a rageshaper becomes difficult to harm in their devastating form. They get +2 natural armor bonus to their AC and damage reduction. Their DR increases at 10th, 15th, and 20th levels, and the natural armor bonus increases to +4 at level 20.

Wild Effigy
assumes animal shapes, but they are made out of carved, living rock. In these shapes, the wild effigy gets DR N/-, where N is their shifter level. At 4th level, they gain a 25% chance to ignore a critical hit or precision damage, and this chance increases at 9th and 15th levels. At 6th level, a wild effigy can sacrifice minutes from their aspects’ minor forms to turn their claws into adamantine.

That was a short review of the new class and its archetypes. We hope it piqued your interest and that you’re already planning another run with a new build! The Last Sarkorians DLC will be available on March 7, 2023.

Speaking of White Dragon Armor, shouldn’t the damage break team out of Noct’s Fascinate Gaze each round? Can also use persistent damage ground effect.

Taking on Melazmera (Black Dragon in Colphyr Mines):

High initiative pays off.

Melazmera fight initiative.jpg

Always nice to roll a 20. 51 initiative is pretty hard to beat. Seelah gets up there too, and I delay MC to wait for Mark of Justice.

Melazmera two shot first shot.jpg

Seelah gets a little unlucky not to land any of her attax with advantage and Bless Weapon. That's the price of using Longsword over Scimitar, but Longsword is required for the (modded) Iomedae ability.

MC hits the number right on the nose. The Dispel is a little weird. It will roll the same result for every check even with advantage so either you Dispel everything or nothing.

Melazmera Unfair two shot second shot.jpg

The Dispel shows up in the log before the hit, but as you can see here it doesn't take effect until the next one. A next one that never comes. (EDIT: looks like there’s a third attack that needed the Dispel to land). That was quick!

Melazmera damage breakdown.jpg

Here's the damage breakdown for the three packets. Eye for an Eye Shortbow generates the middle one, the Armor (as long as you're stealthed/invis) generates the third. Middle one is less because it doesn't pick up Mark.

Colphyr Unfair skills.jpg

Still smoothing the skill checks.

Unfair Baphomet pwned:

Van Aeon 18 Heph initiative.jpg

Getting the jump on Hephiwhat'sherface. Turn-based turning into DOSII, without the forced turn-taking. Look at turn order and attack first one up. Evocator here.

Van Aeon 18 Heph first atk on Evocator.jpgVan Aeon 18 Heph first atk Heph.jpgVan Aeon 4 of 6 on Heph.jpgVan Aeon 18 Bismuth on Dispeller.jpgVan Aeon Heph finishing off Dispeller.jpg

First attack of fight and both Minos down with Heph wounded. Highly recommend putting ranged MC on Bismuth to get Snap Shots rolling. Especially with Opportunist.

Van Aeon 18 Heph Golem hits Heph.jpg

With Bubble Buffs you can summon first then apply group buffs to make them relevant.

Nenio pwning Baph.jpg

Don't get the Nenio hate. The boss dialogue alone is worth it.

Van Aeon 18 making saves vs Baph.jpg

This was interesting. First fight ended so fast that clump of summons are still in the back. Baph spells mostly targeted them, and Sos/Reg made saves.

Van Aeon 18 Baph fight Sosiel Dispel.jpg

Delayed everyone so that Sosiel could get his Dispel, Greater in. TTT caps Dispels at one per 4 levels. Should probably set it up so that he can Dispel twice.

Van Aeon Baph fight Midnight Bolt.jpg

Midnight Bolt gets the autohit, triggering more Dispels via AeonBane

Van Aeon 18 Weird Stun.jpg

Finally got around to reading Weird. Stun even on made Fort save lol? That spell is absurd. Greater Persistent Rod is too.

Van Aeon Baph Seelah AoO trigger.jpgVan Aeon 18 Baph finishing off Baph.jpg

And he's dead before Nocti can show up. Of course she still takes credit for killing him in dialogue. Didn't take the Gift.

Improved Quarry stacking with Aeon Cloak.jpg

Leveled up and discovered that Improved Quarry (Free Action) stacks with Insight bonus from Aeon Cloak.

Not sure how I feel about abusing damage packets. Eye for an Eye would be pointless without it. The 6 Force damage Armor while Invis would still be decent.

Using BubbleBuffs to mass apply Touch of Good etc*? Still limited use and one round only, but with fights only lasting one round? Will likely do Shifter run on Hard with far less nonsense (and things to remember) but Unfair's Unfair. 90% of what I'm doing here can be done on vanilla and TTT has some downsides as well. Things like Coordinated Shot and the Iomedae ability still cost a Feat (and an extra Tactician Use Slayer Talent for Coordinated) and Iomedae requires Sword/is one round only.

* - you can see I cheated and reapplied the short buffs vs Baph after misclicking Quarry and attacking instead with Lann. Bubble Buffs can be configured to allow in combat insta-buffs but that's usually off. Not sure the out-of-combat version counts as cheating. Only had ten left and not sure if needed since some of the originals were still up. Baph Dispels the Medium and Long buffs (couldn't be reapplied since not memorized anyway) but leaves other effects alone.
