Who the fuck designed plagued smilodons? High movements monsters with a lot of immunities and a ton of 40 strength attacks on chapter 2??? Is the game just balanced about greasing everything? Is the message that you have to lube up for it?

I like stuff like this when characters take note of your class.

It could go either way, depends on what items you find and what challenges you’re facing, which is the nice thing about weapons training.

Even if I’m a dedicated Shield Basher I usually don’t pick up the extra bashes until late when the big damage bonuses kick in so you’ve got some time before then to see which way you want to go and you don’t need Shield Mastery with the Mithril Shields.

The game is balanced for good scouts who can pick your battles and have the patience to do so.

Cross-posted from OC forum re:HoMM fights:

I enjoy it. Battles resolve reasonably quickly but aren’t trivial, and you’re rewarded for methodical play with the companions. You can scout out new areas, return to camp to configure your team and spells then repeat four or five times if needed. I probably did that for both the Leper’s Smile Cave (great trap rigging!) and List Chapel both.

Meanwhile your army resources steadily grow and you only need to make sure to keep up morale.

In P:K there was too much of a reward for going fast to do that.
I at least want to pretend that both was timed missions and your people are dying right now.

My advice is - be prepared to not take the game seriously in general, including your "experience" of it. For me at least bugs are within the tolerable limits of a brand new RPG.

Believe it or not this is the first time it’s functional, and there is a logic to it. Used to have to find the pieces halfway across the map pieces would disappear pieces were in Cyrillic all sorts of shit.

I mean waiting for some months for patches will not improve your "WOTR experience" so much that you would say what a classic RPG, although some errors in the rules implementation and UI glitches will have been fixed.

The campaign's tone is "pretend-high fantasy epic", just a bit more serious than D:OS2

Does anyone know if the movement animation for player characters is moddable? I'd love to change it to walking animation at .75 the speed of the current running animation. I made this mod for Deadfire and it looked and played great, just like the IE games.

Lol, my wife just read Ember's bio in her character cheet. Said it's as if she has written it, at the age of 14, while listening to Bonnie Tyler.

So was “A Midsummer Nights Dream” but still a lot of interesting things going on. Buried here under a pile of fanfic and sucking up to degenerate Redditors and journos and employees.

Don't know why everyone keeps saying the writing is so bad. Read a bit and it seemed fine. A little wordy sometimes but it's standard video game fare. Is it just the lgbt stuff and people are expanding that to everything? Bias. You guys complain more and cry more than the lefties.

Aeon path is pretty cool. I can go around and see if people have committed crimes and accuse them of crimes but my powers aren't strong enough to know what crimes specifically. Accused Camila and her father both of committing crimes without any proof and they both told me off. Might actually read more of what's happening.

Is it really the guy you love, or the fact that he's a self-insert of someone who can't stand the giant idiotic plotholes of the main story? :M

He is a interesting character. A very lawful character. Hence he is right that someone climbing so high in the chain of command makes no sense. The story is the worst aspect of this game. If was up to me, instead of the epic beginning, I would write something like the city was taken by demons and the party as slaves and the chapter 1 would be around escaping the slavery. They will find a underground rebelion using a "cell" structure(similar to Veiled alliance in Athas) and guerrilla warfare, cuz they are weaker than the demons.

The initial quests would be all about gathering supplies to the rebels, freeing slaves and getting clues about an ancient artifact. In chapter 2 you will meet rumors that the hell knights fleed to a demiplane and after getting in contact with they, a huge internal conflict will happen cuz the hell knights are all about order and discipline and the rebels wanna a decentralized structure. Both needs each other and at the same time, can't get along with each other. Only after gathering a lot of resources and personnel, you would be able to attack the city and only after it, you will march to drezen. IMO would be much better gameplay wise and story wise.
