Water elemental is worth 39 xp. Talk aboUT not udnerstanding risk vs reward. Can you imagine some dying to it 10 times to see that pop up? But, then you fight easier enemies or simply remove a trap your thief has 95% chance to remove and get 100s of xp for? HAHAHAHA.

That exp is distributed to every companion that you have and don't yet have. Which is a 13 way split. Most people go for party-only members, and then figure it out as they go along. I recommend you do the same, Volourn.

Lol, 24 hours after release and 1 in 200 have beat the Elemental in the Prologue on Core or above.

This might game might finally provide an achievement to supplant 'beating POE on Expert' as my rarest one.
Add 1.6% from GOG.
It's pretty easy to kill it... use defensive fighting on Selah and then just shot it.
Through DR 5. And when it crits...

Wendy has a sexy voice, like she smoked ALL cigarettes. And she's at least 50% catgirl. And now she calls me "master"...
If it helps, the lizardman already screwed her before you came along.
Okay. And?
Who the fook expects virgins in the neutral evil camp.
Clearly you don't watch much anime.

In all seriousness, I have zero respect for her character. She's a literal mutant freak and a slut who switches sides at the drop of a hat.

She slept with the half-lizard in order to betray him later. She's the fantasy equivalent of an ugly gold digger. No pride or self respect. She'll grovel before you and call you "master" because that's what you want from her. She openly says as much to Lann when she betrays him. There's nothing of value in her besides her combat ability.

Traps in the tutorial dungeon give 9xp I think. Unless I'm mistaking them for the locks.

Paladindu
Damn, dude, I came up with the same monicker independently.

I don't know what the exact number. I'm clearly exaggerating. But, like I said, eitehr way removing traps are non threatening if you have a rogue capable of doing them and the game gives you one so there is no challenge. The point is, most agree that the water elemental is the most challenging encounter (combat or otherwise) in the early part of the game yet the reward for it is crap. XP is garabge, the loot is garbage.. so what is the point of fighting it except to laugh at the losers who couldn't beat it? L0L

Oh, that is why the Codex likes it. :D

So, they can wank off to their own superiority. Nothing wrong with that.

But, as a long time player/DM, it just reeks of bullshit.

Imagine in pnp if you fight an adult dragon, got 10 xp, and 100 gold. Then faught a handful of wussy kobolds and got a holy avenger and 5k xp. That is subpar DMing (and I'm being nice).

I just don't see much value in someone who is that likely to betray you later on.

She's basically female Gollum with spider legs on her back.

Are cavaliers playable or bugged?

There are some minor annoyances with mounted combat. Mounts change their target and mess up full attacks or losing attacks with pounce

Does that mean that Vulpine Pounce and mounts don't mix?

Or that it usually works, except when it doesn't.

Didn't have vulpine pounce but pounce from greater animal totem works with mount pounce. Few enemies survived that alpha attack.

What do you mean works with mount pounce, aren't they independent? Rider attacks and mount attacks.

Yeah they are independent. Both you and mount needs some pounce ability to full attack after a charge.

Tutorial message said it's deadly and challenging opponent. So you are fighting it to claim you beat challenging opponent.

On the other hand enemies and theirs placement feel unrealistic. It looks like a person who never did proper PnP GM was asked to do it, and it decided to put an enemy into nearly every room.

Not to mention obligatory LGBT propaganda, yes it is very important to tell many times that someone is lesbian. This knowledge should kept shoved into face multiple times, brilliant story-telling.
The orc and the tranny make out when they are reunited. That's how you find out they're in a relationship. (Though I knew already from what people had posted.) It's just after a long battle and this giant grain monstrosity of an orc sees her lover and just ignores you to go make out with it. It's almost comical to see the tow of them.

What utter garbage writing. Bottom of the barrel schlock.

Battle Scion should be able to give everyone in your party pounce, iirc. Does Battle Prowess affect mounts and such?

On that note, what size mount is preferred?

Very tight spaces here compared to KM, guessing both enlarged will be completely impractical, but worried that the smaller ones don't have enough range for AoO spam.

Yea, game is small corridors. Mounts aren’t that useful later on is what I commonly read.

Honestly, the options for evil characters are REALLY bad in WOTR that I can tell. The companion list is awful in variety compared to Kingmaker across the board. It's like they expected everyone to play Good--or kill/banish everyone if they play evil I guess. Then again that was my concern with the module already, that trying to graft "actually you can be good or evil, its all your choice!" design onto a module that is built from the perspective of being a do-gooder crusader wouldn't really work thematically, and so far my worries have been borne out.

You guys are nuts, Lann is pretty much the most level-headed companion. Whenever there's an opportunity to not show mercy to someone who clearly doesn't deserve it, he's right there tightening the noose. He's also the only one to mock the cringy demons for acting like cringy teenagers, and his suggestions during councils are usually - make do with what you have and stop complaining; you're a crusader - go eat garbage if you have to. Guy's solid.

I must admit I've warmed to Lann - didn't like him at first, didn't have him in party, but since the other one's gone, I'm finding him less annoying, and he's really a very handy damage dealer in the team.

Lann's probably the best written companion other than Regill. The one "good" character I really liked from the outset--he's just a normal, well-written dude and it's hilarious how he'll respond to your ribbing and rib you right back, that's pretty rare in CRPG writing. The rest are just so cringe, though.

Can't you play nice evil characters?

No. This is very much "evil is being mean" school of thought. Hell, being "mean" to fundamentally evil characters is considered evil at times (as in, it actually pushes your alignment).

There is Devil path so maybe they snuck some "cleverness" in there later, but for the early to mid game it's very childish view of evil, where it's either killing people for no reason at all, not even gain, in fact even opposite of gain (yeah, Kingmaker had this problem sometimes too), but also just being mean or sadistic and not doing anything heinous is also considered evil.

Part of the problem is that the Demon path was conceived at design phase as a Bloodrager class archetype so it has to be a dumb rager, which I think was a huge mistake considering many demon lords are portrayed more as schemers than not. But that's what they went for.

Not simply evil, even playing a Stannis like(book Stannis) ruthless but fair character is out of the question(at least from what I seen so far), grey roleplay is down the shitter, so I restarded as a paladin

Boy, I sure do miss fantasy characters in a fantasy setting speaking in an old-timey or some other appropriate fashion.
