While I am all in favor of getting rid of Dark Souls II because he is either a pervert or - far more likely - a very bad troll, I do find the moralfagging of users like Hell Swarm suspicious as well. This is the codex where opinions are tolerated that would otherwise be called racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, retarded and generally in poor taste but we are supposed to draw the line at discussions about the age of consent? This is very questionable and the moral fervor of him and some other posters who frequently insult others as pedophiles despite little to no evidence leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Those things are not comparable. Races are different, sexes are different, mental illness doesn't change reality and poor taste is still acceptable. Actively promoting wanting to have sex with children is not some objective thing you can discuss. They are not physically developed enough for it and it causes serious bodily harm to them. Any one promoting it is doing it because they actively want to promote the idea and are a danger to children. It's not like they're arguing it should be 16 or something like many European countries have and you could have a debate on. It always involves much younger children and that's why it's a problem.

Many of us have a history on places like 4chan and 8ch. We pay attention to websites that allow free speech and we've noticed a pattern. A small group of users join the sites and argue "If I can't post lolicon and discuss lowering the age of consent (usually finger pointing feminism) then we don't have free speech here". Any one who disagrees with it is called a normalfag and they will double down and post more threads and more lolicon until they have completely subverted the place. No one wants to hang around pedophiles, and pedophiles know this and use the weakness of free speech moderation to drive user bases off of websites and turn them into recruiting grounds. If that's some glowie tactic or just the natural flow of degenerates I don't know, but it's a common pattern and you can see it starting to happen on Codex. It's not a natural discussion and it is a problem that's being used to harm free speech websites because it forces everyone there to tolerate something intolerable or leave entirely back to heavily censored websites.

Eventually the staff have to pick between the normal users and the pedophiles and trying to character assassinate the person saying they see the cancer setting in here doesn't change that. It only raises questions as to why they think someone suggesting they want to fuck pre-teens is a valuable poster worth defending when they post that sort of thing (and they have the shit poster tag so it's clearly not for their posting quality). Saying you can't discuss videos about a topic, but the topic it's self is fine simply doesn't make sense as a rule. And suggesting the rule be updated to ban all discussion of underage sex (outside of it being relevant to the context of a game, where it is on topic and isn't promoting it IRL) seems a simple way to chemo the cancer and keep the rules consistent in their intent. I don't disagree with the topic being discussed and countries reconsidering their laws to keep up with the changing culture technology has brought. I disagree with it being used as a weapon against a RPG forum, where it servers no purpose except to drive a wedge between users and encourage child abusers to feel welcome here. I value being able to say nigger, faggot, tranny and all the other fun words we all like to throw around here. I don't value creating a safe space for child molesters to be encouraged and recruite similar people.

Letting paedo apologists take over the conversation seems to be a way to turn a forum into a honey pot. Like 10 years ago someone could get into trouble and they will say: "Oh he was posting on a paedo forum".

"Age of consent" is a broad description for so many things. The age of consent may be 16 in some places, but there will be exceptions if it's e.g. two 15-year-olds fucking each other, but not if it's a 40-year-old banging a 15-year-old, even if the 15-year-old "consented" to it. The fact that people on either side of this argument can't make this obvious distinction is insane.
