I know the free speech argument about the topic and that argument is used as a shield by the pedos because they know it's an automatic victory for them. Either you admit your principles are flawed and have to censor a topic or you have to let them post their vile messages.

This is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of what free speech is. Free speech means you can express your viewpoint without fear of forcible interference. If the government puts a publisher in prison, or burns an author's book, or vanishes wrongthinkers in the middle of the night, that is a violation of free speech.

Free speech does not mean you have access to the property of others to help express your viewpoint. If a newspaper does not publish your letter to the editor, or a publisher rejects your manuscript, your free speech is not being violated.

The correct concept for sites like the Codex is "free expression" - a commitment to allowing the expression of a wide range of viewpoints on a given topic, in a wide variety of forms, many of which may be offensive. But a commitment to free expression on one set of topics (say, video games) does not require free expression on *all* topics. There's no contradiction here, and ceding the wrong understanding of free speech is a big part of what is leading to its erosion.
