Dropped it even with TB.
Whoever came up with round idea is fucking idiot.

Here is test case: Use knockback on enemy. It only moves enemy into further part of round rather than to next round.
So no point in using that other than some few instances where you really want to move someone to an end of the round.

There is already excellently working initiative system that could be used for whole turn based combat without round system. Just convert speed into initiative. Voila perfect turn based combat. Also convert movement too into initiative cost...

edit: Or even better give each unit AP which will be scaled to dexterity then give it 0/100 value. So then use those initiative cost to pay for those aps.

Another issue with TB thanks to round system.
No point in using small weapons since they don't give you more attacks per second.

Writing RPGs is like making sausages.

I failed to give my sausage to married woman :(

Predicted this even when this was just a rumour. Rt to TB is not trivial. Any sane person could see that. But of course muh genius mechanics creator.

It is trivial. TB mode already have interruption which is conversion of speed. Just remove rounds and convert rest of the stuff to interruption and voila you have proper TB mode instead of this mess. Add some interruption time for movement per feet too.
Use dex as limit for max amount of action you can take in round much like it handles Stride.

how it would look like:

current time T = 0s

your turn 20 dex = 10 interruption max per turn:
2.3 = move toward enemy
4 = swing with sword
0 = pass

total = 6.3 interruption
your next turn will be in 6.3s/interruption

Next on your turn order list:

enemy 1 = 2 sec
enemy 2 = 5 sec
you - 6.3sec

next turn again 10 max
4 swing with sword
6 half sword

next turn in 10 sec and instead of 2 enemies maybe like 4. Maybe that enemy has very light weapon and can have 2 turns in place of your one once you go for max 10 interruption.

If you played PoE 1 in a certain way, Pallegina is kicked out of the Valian paladins and is pretty disgruntled about it.

She's pretty disgruntled either way, but she's extra disgruntled.

I liked Pallegina in PoE1 because she was somewhat professional, mostly reserved paladin diplomat as she was presented. She had some conflict with her conscience and background but it was humanising. In PoE2 she is indeed a miserable, insufferable cunt. Bravo Sawyer.

Pallegina is always fucking disgruntled. She's a miserable cunt. Most of the Pillars companions are also miserable cunts.

I think you hit nail in the head.
Random henchman from tavern has more self worth than them.

I thought for longest time it was issue with their goals but i think self-worth is more important.

edit:
And this is why BG companions mostly worked. They were not written in superb way but all of them at least didn't look like they were constantly sitting on suicide line or failed in life.
Nadia was universally not liked precisely because of that.

If some NPC is fucking loser he can't be decent companion.

I realized this after this post and me recently playing Pathfinder and how companions there are 10 times better. They are not fucking losers.

Meh, I guess that's true, but I personally don't find a "somewhat professional, mostly reserved paladin diplomat" to be an exciting adventurer concept. Is that really someone you want hanging around in your party?

I quite like Serafen. He's fun. Eder turned into a boring mope. I didn't keep Aloth around long enough to see what he was like, because I hated him in POE1, but I'm gonna try him on this next run. It's annoying that one of the best helms in the game is locked behind a specific ending for him. Maia Rua seemed interesting at first, but is so one-note and dreary.

Pallegina is seriously one of the most iconic rpg companions ever!!! She also has some of the funniest scenes in the entire series! Just saying she's disgruntled does a total disservice to the funny drama that creates, like when Tekehu puts an idol in her bag secretly and she throws it as far as she can away

(which then leads to totally awesome scenes where Tekehu apologises to Pallegina and you get totally rich depths to her character that explores their different experiences being godlikes)!!!

But this scene is definitely totally the best:

I can never make my Steel Garrote princess say it tho, she's fierce and she hunts down oath breakers but she's not mean

Discussion about POE2 companions reminds me about BG2 and Planescape. How come nobody, in almost 20 years since those games were released, came even close to quality of companions. Edwin, Korgan, Jan Jansen, Minsc, Viconia - I would be really curious to see a game with higher quality of companions than this.
