Instant cast buffs make playing a frontline wizard really fun. Even in PoE1.

Well, it's the best tank in a game that doesn't need a tank.
Playing Arcane Knight with Darcozzi Flame Shield built into Lay on Hands so that's a pretty solid tank with Outworn Buckler buffing team. Maia's bird ends up tanking a lot about halfway through the fight with an additional Flame Shield.

Shared Flames adds a Burning Lash to Serafen's Mind Blades which scales really well with PLs via Wild Mind buffs and the like, so that's fun.

Watershaper opening with buffs from Stealth to get the fast recovery before pivoting to party-friendly nukes is good too, Xoti does same before running around punching stuff toward the tanks and Harvesting.

Well, I won't claim a Deadfire wizard holds a candle to a DnD 3.5 wizard.

My problem is not that is too weaker than 3.5e. My problem is that the spells are too "4e esque".

But I'm liking a LOT playing this game as an Watershaper. Being able to shapeshift into a wereshark, summon tentacles of water, crush enemies, freeze enemies, create a water clone, pull enemies with waves, and if you summon your clone in wereshark form, it copies your deadly melee attacks, plus walls of ice and pillars of ice failing from skies at tier 8/9.

Best class of the game. I just wish that I could spend more time in wereshark form.

What's the mod for watershaper? I can't find it on Nexus.

I installed this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/179

And to run it in Linux, I had to create an override folder and drop everything in "/home/username/GOG Games/Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire/game/PillarsOfEternityII_Data/override/" Note that once your charname is created, you can remove the mod and it just works.

I just want to find where my saves are located in Linux, as I want to backup my saves and "blessings.".

Completing companion quests should've unlocked their subclasses as a character creation option.

IMO for watershapers, it could be something that you unlock in watershaper guild by doing quests for them. And can "convert" your main character into a watershaper if he is a druid or a wizard. Similar to how you can unlock or learn blood magic in Origins by making a deal with the devil.

That's more than just solid, I'd argue you're overtanking by a wide margin.

You could have a Bleak Walker/Troubadour combo who will do more damage while also cycling shield/heal phrases with Brick Recitation and keeping bird and everybody else alive without wasting spells or even touching the keyboard.

The added benefit is less arhtritis and carpal tunnel in your future from all the unecessary micro.

Wanted to get some more Outworn Buckler love after my Pillows playthrough, and Palletroona can't use it in Deadfire.

Guys, I loaded my older Psion save and a question. Does the "Target when damaged"

RtqoS12.png

Triggers with the spell damage itself? Or other dots like soul burn? If soul burn affects, would each "dot" affect? If yes, assuming that the target has Death of thousand Cuts + Disintegrate + Soul Burn, would Soul Burn + Disintegrate triggers the damage twice per round?

I'm curious.

Read the description. It says it will trigger more raw damage when you use Shred spells on the target.

My cipher experience: open up party scripts, automate spamming the that thing that AOE prones people, close the script, never touch the character again.
Eh, I wouldn't go that far, amplified wave and prone in general has been toned down a lot compared to poe.
The Amplified Wave is good (Vs chaff). But Disintegrate rocks!

Also the DLC rapier is really cool on Ciphers.

Or Grave Calling before that - partly friendly paralyzing Chillfogs that restore your Focus with each aoe tick are the bees knees!

In general Ascension is rather easy in Deadfire. Usually one Thunderous Report is enough. Challenge is staying there. Salvation of Time sure is handy!

Don't sleep on Shred spells. Mind Blades gets all the benefits from Power Levels and even picks up Lashes.
