The winter DLC does suck pretty bad, but arena DLC has some really fun fights and mage DLC is the best dungeon in both games.

Well, I though the Beast of Winter was pretty flavorful at least. Getting to experience a major event of Eora's history...
Quite important for the world building... if you care about such things.

Fair point, that's part was cool, but it's just a small side area. Rest of it is boring asf and drags on forever, so I've only played through it once and never bothered walking in again.

So I finally bought this game and I have to admit I like it much better than the 1st one for some reason. Not sure why. I only played the 1st one right after it released and gave up after about 12 hours and never played again. I am enjoying this so far. Also it is absolutely beautiful. Josh has made some amazing looking games in his life.

Maybe you like it more because it doesn't overwhelm you with lore from the start, it lets you engage in combat and exploration more. However, there is a section in Neketaka where you'll spend quite a bit of time just talking and passing skill checks that you might get that same feeling from PoE1. But probably not.

Yes, it's beautiful. I'd say the best looking CRPG ever, and thank god it doesn't have a rotatable camera, because that allowed them to really focus on those environments and effects. If only the Unity engine weren't such a piece of shit.

I just replayed Piillows to try to get a save for my last Deadfire run but ran out of gas after the Devil of Caroc quest. Soyer's gamergate-era bugaboos just too hard to slog through and missing too many of the mechanics introduced in Deadfire. Don't know if it was nostalgia or what but very much enjoyed the getting the Keep built up and Caed Nua explored phase. Probably first time playing a Barbarian helped.

Last Deadfire run doing a Darcozzi/Evoker Arcane Knight for Outworn Buckler buffing, tanking, protecting, and nuking with Explosives backup.

Main cast Contemplative Xoti sped-up buffer/killer with Arcana, Tekehu Theurge buffer/healer, party-friendly nuker with Blightmaw, Witch Serafen AoE melee/trapper with Lord Daeran's Voulge and Mind Blades to take advantage of Wild Mind (Tenuous Grasp spam backup), and Druggie/Poisoner (Alchemy) Ranger Maia Sniper into Evasive Roll dual Hand Mortar debuffer/killer.

Looking forward to seeing just how much havoc Ishiza can wreak with Bonded Fury (never single-classed Maia before).

Desiderius Does pet get better stats if you single-class it?

Anyhoo, while we're talking mods, I like this one if someone wants to experiment with different builds but doesn't wanna use hirlings.

I'll have to check as I go. I would expect it to like class ability scaling but it may not.

Bonded Fury is kind of funny though. Had an MC Sharpshooter with an Antelope that went off with that. Takedown is worth taking, especially when targeting archers/casters not in the main scrum that usually have lower Fortitude.

So I'm going to try this again after a few years. Anyone do any theme parties? I beat the game 5 years ago on potd with 5 multi-class Bleak Walkers. I remember curb stomping everything by the end. I was thinking one chanter and 4 goldpacks, 5 specialist mages, maybe a hoard of barbarians, or a group of ranger/druids with pets.

I'm right in the middle of developing a new party, not sure I'd call it a theme party though

But what I had been considering prior to this is 5 Wizards

The mod I'm using makes Wizard subclasses way better

Anyone run a Blood Mage in this game? Was it any fun?
Its very strong in Turn Based mode (Blood Sacrifice is a Free Action).
I've had a fun human Assasin / Bloodmage multiclass with Deltro's Cage Helm and eventually also Engoliero de Espirs estoc (its vampiric Ghost Blades trigger on kills from any source, including spells, including its own - can lead to kill cascades). Was game-breakingly strong in Turn Based mode, with nearly guaranteed criticals from Stealth, huge penetration, huge damage bonuses from Assassinate critical, frequent Overpenetration, self-inflicted Deltro's shock lash and human Blooded bonus.
Also started with full buffs (mostly Free Actions for Wizard) and recovered all spell slots before taking any Action (plus boosted his damage from low health and shock lash in the process).

At the same time, often stayed in Stealth during enemy turns, so was often untargettable for the enemies...

Would be far more vulnerable in real time.

I have been playing around with the idea of a kill team composed of assassins and ciphers (and multi class variants).
