I think the top one is a Twin Elms exterior, maybe the gates (not sure) and the bottom is from Lle A Rhemen, which is in the beta.

I'm putting a lot of trust into Obsidian, but I haven't felt this way about a pending release since... well... DA:O and, more recently, D3. The former was a meaty, if flawed, RPG. The latter was disappointment of colossal proportions.

Please, Obsidian: don't D3 me. Don't do it. So many games have fallen short, recently. D:OS is beautiful, and plays well, but nothing compels me to finish it. I don't want to invest proper time into Underrail until it's complete. DA:I was 'meh' incarnate. As the real world continues to gnaw at my free time, I feel dirtier and dirtier pouring it into games that are doomed to leave me feeling dissatisfied. I just want one more epic journey. Just one more RPG with character and soul. Please, baby Jesus Obsidian, make this happen.

Healing spells don't heal for much at all atm, you can use a healing potion to fully heal yourself, or cast a healing spell that heals fucking nothing.
Since there are healing pots in the game, how about an option in the IE mod to remove resting suppiles+enndurance?
And temples with priests, their dialogues, their shops, modified scenes with temples in them, resurrection spells, death/resurrection mechanic? I never particularly enjoyed running back to the temple to resurrect people in the IE games, however blasphemous it may sound. A thing of this scope for something so trivial?

Monday Redemption apparently

We are giving people Steam editions that we have matched to their tiers. On Monday I will make a post showing the different mappings. Also, everyone will be able to download their rewards from our backer portal, as well.

Please, Obsidian: don't D3 me.
From what we've already seen it cannot possibly be as bad as D3 or DA:I. Not exactly living up to the promises made - now that may happen. And I predict that quite some people won't be able to get over it. As usual.

I thought this was pretty funny.

If the following conditions have to be true in order to exploit the clipping/engagement "bug":

- You have to explicitly and carefully position each character extremely close to one another
- It would require some foreknowledge of a pending fight or even metaknowledge of upcoming encounters
- There's ample time to "set this up"

Then I don't see a problem. In fact, I'm just going to LARP that this "feature" is the equivalent of the party preparing for a massive ambush and is focusing their efforts on an all-out defensive strategy to stay alive. A phalanx, if you will.

So about loot being seeded. I found it in the code and it still allows save scamming. Their seed formula is this:

Code:
UnityEngine.Random.seed = (((int) (base.transform.position.x + base.transform.position.z)) * GameState.s_playerCharacter.name.GetHashCode()) + WorldTime.Instance.CurrentDay;

For people who don't understand what it means, it means the loot is generated when you open a container using this formula: Container's position * Player's name + Days you've been playing.

So if you want to save scum a chest, just rest for a day (or advance time by a day by any other means like traveling) and then open it again - you'll have different loot.

Plus when they said that they "seeded the loot", I thought they just hardcoded in a value and that value is used for everyone, so everyone would get the same loot in the same place. Instead, nope, it'll be different for everyone. Yet another disappointment. But what's even more disappointing is that they didn't deal with save scamming... ffs...

That sounds more like good old-fashioned rest scumming to me. Didn't ruin BG2, won't ruin PoE.

Don't you think that this is more of hassle than it worths? All this save scumming and rest scumming. I know I'm like a broken record, but who plays like that? Why don't you mod/cheat yourself a Awesome Sword +10 if you are so desperate to get the best loot in every possible situation?

If someone wants to go out of his way just to generate different loot he should be able to do so. I mean it's a single-player game so who cares.

It's amazing how some of the people who criticize Josh for wanting more balance and less degenerate gameplay criticize him for not balancing or removing degenerate gameplay enough.

I'm not upset loot can be save scummed, I'm upset it isn't hand placed. Why do developers hate hand placed loot? It is so much better than getting a random assortment of magic/useless items in each chest.

All the little improvements I keep noticing in the BB really have made the game enjoyable to play. Combat is MUCH less tedious IMO and I actually look forward to it. When did they turn on XP for kills?

The graphics are much better (clearer/cleaner/more detailed), the voiceovers aren't horrible, the music is nice and the overall feel of the game *almost* seems like it could meet or even surpass the quality of IE.

They didn't, they just successfully fooled you into thinking they did. :troll:

Finished my playthrough on hard with my priest. I even finished the ruins where the lions/cougars hang out, which I neglected beforehand.

I ended at level 8 and with 22k gold. This makes me curious about the pacing of the game. I thought that the max level was 12, but I gained 3 levels. 3 levels feels significant for just for one town, and I thought that Dryford was an early point in the game. This makes me feel that players who explore or do the side quests will reach max level very early. This rate of leveling somewhat concerns me, because once I had upper level spells such as Shining Beacon, the battles became simpler. That being said, I likely was over leveled at that point.

As for the gold, I was not sure what to do with it. I realize that the stronghold was suppose to serve as a money sink, but just how much gold will it absorb when you can obtain 20k+ gold in a small amount of time. The cultists in the Dryford Ruins dropped weapons and armor that sold for 200+ gold each.

The levelling in the beta is not the same as the game. The beta gives you a lot of xp as Obsidian wanted players to level up to level 8 to test out different stuff. It will be a lot slower in the final game.

That is good to know. I did not see that in the updates/forums.

I am wondering if Obsidian similarly inflated the gold values.
