I don't know how many there will be but there are more than those in the current beta.
That would be a relief.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but...
I stumbled upon the collection of portraits and after a glance I asked myself, why are there so few of them. I counted 31. Then I checked BG1's roaster, and it had 32. Yet PoE's lineup seemed much fewer. Then I realized why. They basicly use the same portraits several times, with some slight changes in colour.

Sorry, but this is lazy. If you count the same ones as one, there are only 24 of them. Can we expect more in the final version?

There are more in the game for various characters, so there's a chance they'll make it into the general portrait pool. Like in BG2, where a lot of portraited characters had a fall back portrait in case you picked his.

Also, man, I know we're all under pressure here in this last week, but take it easy ok? If YOU're starting to critique Obsidian, then what's next, Infinitron will have a mental meltdown and start saying that JES is not all that?

Most of which were already taken by the companions.
Also, this. A big annoyance in BG1 was basically that no matter what I had to choose a portrait from a companion that I will then can't use because fuck, I don't want to have twice the same portrait in the same team.

There are like 70 portraits (72 i think) in the current beta, and already confirmed that more will be in the release version.

Anthony Davis badler Will you release some cool launch trailer right before the game gets released? I can really dig those and would pick the interest of undecided gamers.

A launch trailer would be good. The reveal trailer (the one on Steam) is a bit cheesy.

J_C I see that you don't pay close attention to the Avatars thread.

"Pillars of Eternity"

Thanks for the link. I wouldn't go around whining about the portraits quality in PoE being low, but I wonder at people going out of their way to point out how great the portraits in PoE are, because this isn't true and I would have thought it was obvious.

It's not quite fair to count 3 versions of the same portrait with very little difference between them, as separate portraits, or to call "portraits" pictures where half or all of the face isn't even visible, and then say "wow we have more than twice the BGII portraits". Not to mention how inconsistent the style is between different portraits, when compared to BG or IWD.

Anyway, even with mediocre portraits, the more there are in the game, the better, because even the most psycho-looking or edgy neckbeard type may suit some player's taste. For me it's pretty much mandatory that I'll upload a custom portrait.

Judging by what I've seen from the world map, it looks like the progression through the world map is actually pretty linear.

I mean I haven't played it yet, but I think there'll be a *a little bit* of disappointment about that overall
That would be extremely crappy. I would hope they would at least allow some freedom of going around and opening new locations inside bigger sections of the game/world.

I'm listening to it now and I'm waiting for the moment Sensuki will mention he's currently in a wheelchair and permanently lost the ability to move his lower body, at which point a single, solitary tear will run down my left cheek.

It was pretty interesting to learn more about Sensuki. I was curious as to where does he find all this time, lol. BTW, I was a fan of Age of Mythology too. :) I guess it's a lucky coincidence for all that he is so motivated to volunteer for QA for free, while lacking the professional experience, which prevents all his work to "feel" like work for him or to demotivate him.

I wonder if after PoE is out he would find the energy to do the same thing for PoE 2. I think these "conditions of mind" are one-off things which rarely repeat themselves. At least that's how they've been for me.

The /v/ threads for PoE have gotten a little weird recently (or, more so than usual). Specifically, there is weird shitposting about Eder. What the fuck happened?
