Hi.

Sagani is my favorite companion, and who is the cutest little fuzzy foxy? Itumaak! <3 xoxo

In later patches they really made the Ranger class viable and in combination with Itumaak's bite, they are a great one-two combo. Visiting Sagani in Nassitaq along with her family would be awesome to experience in Pillars of Eternity 2. A curve would be meeting Sagani but having her husband Kallu travel with the party instead.

Her voice actor sounds a lot like that actor from Avatar - Michelle Rodriguez - but clearly it's not as I can find no reference to her doing any voice acting for Pillars of Eternity.

Thanks,
Randal

Indeed. That sort of checklist approach to game design feels fakey-fake.

People bitched about this, especially no rogue in base game, so I wouldn't be that optimistic. Esp if there's a returning cast of 3, if you have minimum 5-6 new companions to show off some new faces then the cast is going to be just as huge.

Number of classes will be the same because lol getting rid of work, they've been balancing old PoE because the combat is going to be a straight port.

They basically have all the advantages they could ever hope for - no publisher meddling in their "creative" process, an engine they are familiar with, a working combat system, they can probably get more money from KS/Fig if they want to and basically no deadline (an externally forced one that is). So they can afford to have companions of all classes (not that I want to, it's all the same to me since we can just hire adventurers) and a chance to surprise us that they can actually make a good isometric RPG. They won't, but they wouldn't be able to complain that the possibility and potential wasn't there.

Also I see utthurt CA tweeting quickly to reveal what little info he has(we know Obs will use figstarter but most ppl don't). Prolly he'll go out of his way to tell it not once or twice but often and in capital bold letters that HE ISN'T WORKING ON PILLARS 2...almost like an anti-campaign, wait and see.?

lol yeah. I don't know what Obsidian did to him that he hates them so much but he has to go out of his way to say not only is he not working on Pillars 2, but he's specifically refusing to work on it.

Ignored his game pitches, probably.

Avellone, blah blah. If he ever actually takes lead on a project again, I'll be interested to see what he can do. All he is now is a whiny bitch who occasionally does some writing.

Wonder If they'll be going to Fig or Kickstarter.
Fig is a good guess. :M

Damn, I was really hoping he'd write two more widely-loathed companions

Meet 2house. He's sort of like the Something Awful ambassador on the Codex.

Durance is way, way better than Grieving Mother anyhow. How could anyone rate her above the priest?

I don't understand Eder's popularity, he's basically someone's uncle. Is his normalcy the cause of his popularity?

He's just the chill troubled bro that anyone can relate to, and he cares about you.
Kinda makes you want to pet him.

I think it's because Durance's personality is more polarizing, and GM is slightly more unusual as a whole.

In addition to the bro aspect others mentioned, he's useful in combat to the vast majority of players, and his quest is meant to make players pity him.

He did not enter special snowflake/mary sue/emo unicorn territory like other characters (Aloth, Pallegina, Hravias, etc), and his voice actor delivered the banter/lines well enough. Also, I would argue that his ending slides were more satisfying (i.e., becoming a governor of a town, helping followers of Eothas escape persecution, etc).

In Eder's case, less was more.

Eder's just solid companion. Good banter and barks, he's not a passenger in your party unlike many of the others, the voice actor isn't overdoing his lines...what's not to like?

That, and his personality is so normal it actually makes him stand out from the collection of weirdos and chronic masturbators that make PoE companions.

Criticize the game for being pretentious then criticize Eder for being too normal. Then say you have realistic expectations... or expectations that you can describe without referring to those classic arepeejesus that you put on a pedestal so high that if you can climb up you can see Eternitydsfghjkl

My memory is a little hazy now, but I seem to remember Eder getting nearly as much criticism as Aloth shortly after release and I never really understood why.

First game was too epic for, well, first game. Gods, gods everywhere. And dragons. That's exactly why i liked Eder and Sagani - they are normal.

Gods, dragons, Ilithid look-a-likes, 16th (?) level etc. BG1 ended around 8-10th level, depending on the class, and the highest level enemy was Aec'letec, a somewhat minor demon. Interesting what they are going to throw at us in PoE2 to ramp up tension, now that dragons have already been done (avatars of gods? You need quite the set-up for those). Also, the power creep is going to ...creep in faster.

Have they confirmed about a follow up story? Maybe it'll be like IWD 1-2 through in-game stories?

The PC's ending slides in PoE1 indicate that PoE2 will be a continuation of his story, JS confirmed that we will be able to import the character into the sequel, and several NPCs are returning (for now: Eder, Aloth and Pallegina).
