I just tried cutting someone with a hammer and that didn't work either. What a cruel world.
b-but meticulous forging process

One could say that the habit of not parrying with katanas is what actually forced better martial technique to be developed around them. You never want to come to full stop in a swordfight. You never want to stop your energy, or even your opponent's energy. The blade is an extension of you, and like you, it must be alive.
How do you come up with shit as gay as thisAlso

In addition to lightness, reach and strength the eurosword could also sport more than one edge for cutting and, crucially, a swordhilt. I'd very much like a swordhilt. Wouldn't want to be called "Stumpy" the rest of my life, but maybe that's just me.
Katanas have tsuba. It is a hand guard.
many words

Lightness tied to improved usability is another questionable assertion. Less mass is not good for cutting through resistant human body. Another questionable assumption is that improved reach with one-handed swords has no negative tradeoffs, such as loss of balance and power. Finally, katanas are quite usable with one hand. There are techniques where you pull out the katana and immediately cut your opponent in the same movement.
In short, your post is a mix of factual information on sword manufacturing, mixed with subjective opinion on their comparative usability.
Swords are a secondary weapon when going to war. You draw it when your primary weapon (polearm, bow, whatever) is not applicable to the situation. Before firearms and often afterward still, any notable battle worth studying in history was decided either by yari or by pikes. Swords are but a gentleman's showpiece. The real argument here is not who had the better swords, but who had the better polearms.
What the fuck is wrong with people shitting on Katana.
It looks awe-inspiring, which is it's main function, because most of them offered far less protection than plate, or even ring mail. Thin steel plates were most likely even more expensive than a katana. In addition to lightness, reach and strength the eurosword could also sport more than one edge for cutting and, crucially, a swordhilt. I'd very much like a swordhilt. Wouldn't want to be called "Stumpy" the rest of my life, but maybe that's just me.
Normally you use this with the sword.
I too could write peans about Polish cross-cutting art (which is mostly forgotten and was probably overhyped as well otherways it wouldn't be forgotten ). It said similar things - to always move the point in circles, each one perpendicular the the previous one, to never stop the blade.
BTW a nice video of original sabre from XVIIIth century, weights 0.580 kg
compare the blade thickness and complex crossection to katanas. Notice the different crossection for the top 1/3rd of the blade.
Btw, the least realistic weapon damage to me is probably in my favorite game of all time: Deus Ex. The assault rifle, firing 7.62 mm bullets, did 3 damage per bullet...

Fortunately, everything else is great. And I always play it on Realistic.
Where the C7 is the best weapon?Jagged Alliance 2
Agree. But good spread of weapon drops and categories is a rarity, really, which always pisses me off. It's especially annoying in fantasy games where you almost always gimp yourself if you don't specialise in swords. Swords swords swords swords everywhere, yeah, okay, how about a fucking warhammer, I haven't seen one for 15 hours already, FFS.
The katana is the deadliest of all weapons in the hands of a true master.
Swords, like obelisks, are strong phallic symbols. In the case of the sword specifically the symbolism is even stronger, considering the vagina - where you thrust your phallus - which is a Latin word meaning "sheath". A sword being the object which enables the hero to conquer his goals represents the assertion of manhood and virility.I wonder where the heavy sword worship came from anyway. Myths and hero stories have an equal representation of magical swords as they do bows, spears, hammers etc., yet RPG devs mostly lust after swords.

In other words: bows are for faggy elves.
