Gabe knows all the good games have already been made and produces product to milk hyperactive zoomers
what's that if not based
Unlike the other FPS MOBA games, this one will have the "mods will fix it" crutch. Maybe some fun custom games come out of it.

wow, looks like absolute soulless garbage. 100% it will have no charm of the greatest valve online games like l4ds or tf2. i doubt that even pogchamp zoomers will be interested in this slop. this will be artifact 2.0... wait... my bad. artifact 3.0.

I mean, its literally called Deadlock. Probably named after the creative process at Valve and their inability to manufacture product.

Valve new games except Alyx has been disastrous for them with multiple projects died within span of 1 year (Artifact, Underlord) while the competition (Riot) actually succeeding in making a CCG and Auto-battler

Honestly art direction aside, 0 hope a new MP game from Valve will find any success. CS and DOTA is carried by momentum of having one of the most loyal playerbase from the 2000s, anything new by Valve is bound to be dropped in 1 year due to 0 marketing and dogshit balance/patch cycle

Hope this crap flops. They have no idea what made their games fun in the past.
All they do nowadays is just looking for new ways to turn their players into gambling addicts. They don't care for actual quality experiences.
TF2 is neglected and dead in the water.
L4D2 is fucked.
That DotA chess game? Abandoned.
DotA and CS? Soul-sucking gambling dens.
Alyx? Decent game made to sell hardware.
Artifact? Lmao. It was a somewhat promising game as far as I understand that was killed partially by their drive to sell card packs.

Is this what's going to happen when Gabe retires.
Gabe has already retired from development, he retired years ago. He is now only speaking from his capacity as owner, and his actual work hours go towards the neural interface thing.

Is that neural interface gadget still a thing?

I thought he's just mostly chilling in NZL now.

He's doing the same life-extending AI neural networking space colonies shit that all the tech billionaires are. Basically a less cringe Elon Musk.

Why would they make a third person shooter? Are they going to release it on consoles or something?

To sell skins.
People who buy skins and cosmetics should be sent to Gulag. These fuckers have ruined gaming in a way no one ever could.
go back in time then and tell people to stop buying oblivion, tough guy
People who bought the Horse Armor DLC should be sent to Gulag ahead of everyone else.

Pavel Djundik (SteamDB guy):

Worst explanation of deadlock I have ever seen. Simple google search explained it 100x better than he did. Why do people think they have to explain stuff on twitter that they have no knowledge of?

Don't understand Gabe Newell. Isn't he a gamer? Is that not why he got into this business? If I were filthy rich like him, I would make the games of my dreams, using more my own money than the company's so that I wouldn't have to yield to committees and outside forces. 4 billion dollar net worth.

He's just a talking head. I don't think he cares about games that much. We sometimes see interviews with him where he says some «based» shit (like one of the recent ones that blew up where he says that games should be fun). But all his company does is killing their own games and/or turning them into casinos.

Thing is with Gabe that he's rarely seen in public and his company avoids controvercies — a stark contrast with most other western developers that build cults of personalities around themselves and always get themselves into controvercies out of greed or stupidity. On top of that, Steam is the main platform for distributing games. So people hold Valve in high regard because they provide us with games.
Gabe is just lying low and not doing anything while money flows.

They sometimes try to paint him as a DotA addict in promo videos, but I don't believe in that.

He did that around 1997.

These rails seem a lot less fun than actual movement abilities that characters could have. Movement techs like rocketjumping or double jumping and air strafing and whatnot. Y'know, things that Team Fortress 2 has? Even Overwatch is better in that regard.

Looks like a mid game.
Battleborn or LawBreakers didn't look much worse than that, and both flopped hard and were killed.

Edit: Also apperantly direct competitor Valorant has a character called Deadlock that was added to the game this year, which is awkward for marketing and looking things up on YouTube, fanart, etc. This in addition to there already being a game called Deadlock on Steam. The name seems just badly chosen.

Valve as a game maker has been in the ground for a while. This is the shitty, moldy little flower budding from its grave mound.

Thanks for the good times.
