Where have I seen the whole "power lines laying on the floor of a circular chamber powering up a central artifact" thing before? I'm sure that's been done in another game. One of the BG's or IWD's?

Here's another one I found from IWD2 but I don't think those were "power lines":

I swear there was something else that looked almost exactly like PE's screenshot, but I can't seem to remember what it is.

In any case, it's a theme that seems to get overused.

Maybe it's the Mortuary from PST? While not exactly having power lines, it did look somewhat similar.

There was also that portal in BG2, generating lightning mephits, which had to be turned off.

The Spirit Apparatus in the final area of the Deep Roads in DA:O was sort of like that.

love it, but i agree that the "floating character" effect is a bit too heavy, from what one can see. still, :bounce: material.

I really like the fidelity with which they recreated that concept art within the engine.

I believe this kind of aesthetics is most similar to Irenicus' Lair and Planar Sphere from BG2.

I love that MCA has actually turned out to be on a Todd Howard level of popamole retard. How you deal with it, Codex?

A better question would be what if Todd Howard turns out to be great at playing Arcanum.

I'd say so unless he's like MCA and roll a terrible character, realize it's terrible, but keep playing with it in the most counter-productive way possible.

His character isn't terrible, he's just playing it terribly.

Hey @Infinitron. THe position is for Projet Eternity btw.
Obsidian Entertainment is looking for a talented self-motivated VFX Artist to create a range of 3D effects and animations for Project Eternity.

This artist will be responsible for creating both ambient effects (such as smoke, fire, and lightning) and more detailed prop animation (a tree limb breaking, a glass shattering, etc.). These effects will be created using Maya, but experience with comparable programs is acceptable.

Yeah, he made a diplomatic character, but whenever he finds someone to talk to, he just gets tired of all that text and attacks him like a retarded, popamole ADD kid...

Sawyer identified this problem long ago: in Arcanum doing (saying) the right thing conflicts with being the "right character" (any character that falls within its supported range of expression). Those persuasion lines often require you to lie, and Chris doesn't want to bluff, he wants to persuade.

So killing everything in sight is okay, but lying/bluffing IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER'S PERSONALITY!!!!111... right.

That's not THAT odd actually. Many players "compartmentalize" and separate between combat and non-combat in terms of how they approach the game. In combat, they go into "game mode" and just kill everything mercilessly because that's the objective. In non-combat, they actually roleplay.
