That's the reason the *only* American devs making something resembling AAA RPGs are Obsidian, Bethesda, and Bioware. These companies are not going to stop because some kickstarters didn't work out.
Then there's nothing to worry about, is there? lets just play skyrim

Hey asshole, no one is making good cRPGs, and no one is going to unless kickstarters work out.

Publishers aren't going to wake up one morning and think to themselves, you know what I want to fund today? A 20 million dollar RPG project with Kurt Vonnegut level writing, a deep character system, and over 100 hours of good content.

It's not going to happen.

So we can have 3 million dollar projects, or nothing. You choose nothing. Great. Enjoy never playing another RPG.

euclideon is nice but i kinda want that level of detail in content - so if a ask some npc about who he is, i don't want to hear just his name
also, I'd like to ask what i want not what the devs want me to ask
wizardry 8 at least gave you the possibility to find out stuff that were not mentioned if you didn't specifically ask for them by using given words

i give you that ftl is a nice piece of shit that gave me something to to for a couple of days but it smells none the less - weird worlds was better
and what ever kickstarter is about to unleash will have about the same quality

Guys we're never gonna get good games unless we have voxel cards! It's those dern developer's fault for not designing AAA voxel games that we have to deal with polygon shit from nVidia/AMD! They're never gonna get the message unless we stand up and demand the voxel hardware we deserve!

This is an interesting subject. Someone should start a new thread in CRPG Discussion called "Next-gen RPGs: The right way" or something like that.
