This out now in EA. Anybody get it? Steam reviews don't paint a good picture.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiet.

OK, well... the gaym is not that bad, but it needs work.

First off, this is the first game that I have ever seen on Steam that had rusniggerian set as a default language. I can image this could filter out some people who wouldnt want to bother trying to find out how to switch to English, but oh well.

RR1.jpg

Gameplay-wise - you control individual soldiers (of course they can be grouped as needed). Postures can be changed (standing, crouching, prone), there is sticky cover like in CoH/DoW2. Soldiers come in various classes (rifleman, stormtrooper, medic, machine gunner, probably others I havent seen yet), different classes have different items they can use. Soldiers can put on gasmasks, some can throw grenades (frag, gas, anti-tank from what I have seen so far). There are also some vehicles (so far I have seen armored cars, though there are tanks as well) and heavy weapons with limited field of fire that can be taken over (HMGs, mortars).

RR3.jpg

The missions revolve around capturing flags much like in CoH. There is no base building, you get resources by capturing flags and you can use resources to call in reinforcements to rally points that get unlocked at the flags you capture. Sometimes you can also use call-ins such as airstrikes.

Generally, I would say that the game would benefit from having a tactical pause/ability to slow down time - neither of which seems to be in. As you can imagine, things get very hectic in large fights, since you have to throw nades manually and such. There is also no saving in missions so far. Anyway, it is OKish Man of War-lite experience. Not terrible, not great. I backed the KS so long ago that this is basically a free gaym for me, so w/e.

The furry factor is kinda disturbing. The movies between missions are done p. well, and there are sexualised females of various species that are in the game. I dread the type of shit I might be exposed to if I keep playing.

So, what's the plot? Nazi rats fighting against what? Frog Frenchies or something?

Germans = Rats, Entante/Allies = Mice, rusniggers = Cockroaches (lol), AZNs (I think both chinks and japs) = some kind of lizards.

The plot is basically a WWI that keeps going until it turns into WWII.

>the biggest issue of Men of War is that there's too much micromanagement in big battles
>soldiers don't do shit they should do, like throwing nades when detecting large groups of enemies
>game comes out that wants to be like Men of War but better
>doesn't fix Men of War's biggest problem (passive soldier AI)

I like the option to micromanage in certain situations, but I shouldn't have to do it all the time in games like this. This has already been my biggest issue with Men of War and its spiritual successor Call to Arms/Gates of Hell.
When I tell individual soldiers to take a position I don't want them to stand in the same spot forever, I want them to dynamically change cover according to the situation. I don't even need their behavior to be complex, just if the sandbags you hide behind get blown up, maybe walk to that wall over there and hide behind that. Or when a tank approaches, take your panzerfaust and blow it up instead of waiting for my manual command to do so. Managing a wide front when your soldiers literally just stand still and shoot small arms is pretty much impossible when the AI keeps spamming troops at you.

People keep telling me it's a Men of War clone, but the marketing is telling me it's a furry game with sexualized boob rats.

Men of War wasn't the micromanagement hell that was Soldiers: Heroes of World War II. That said, I do agree even Men of War: Assault Squad 1 could've used more automation (auto-replenishing ammo from the supply trucks, for example). I simply threw people without ammo ahead of units who had ammo, Soviet penal battalion style. If Ratten Reich shares these issues with earlier iterations of Men of War, I am not surprised the review scores are lower than they could've been otherwise.

Call to Arms/Gates of Hell STILL has these issues? I thought they acknowledged them and tried to fix them?

It's better but not fully fixed. You still have to micromanage soldiers changing cover, or even changing windows when occupying a house, which honestly should be an automatic thing they adjust based on enemy direction.

Interesting, and not what I would have guessed. I thought Allies would be cats, not mice, the less evil version of rats, so to speak. Ruskies as disgusting insects is hilarious. Asians as lizards... No idea.

Compare this to Maus' take of nationalities.

The plot is basically a WWI that keeps going until it turns into WWII.
Soo, Tanya the Evil?

Why not both? TM.

I watched some reviews and I got the feeling the game would be better served if it went with Silent Storm's approach to gameplay management.

TBH fam, pretty much everything would be better if it went with Silent Storm´s approach to gameplay management. The game is still in EA and likely will stay there for some time... we will see what happens.

This game needed a lot longer in the oven is the general consensus I've seen from indie strategy nerds. It just isn't ready. Probably gonna bomb for the devs but that's what happens. Also it is traditional for non-furry anthropomorphic animal games not to make tight shirts over big tits, especially for... rats... Tells you they are not super smart about their aesthetic.
