Did ya'll cover Hired Sword II?
Are you referring to this game?Actually, I was most interested in Boiling Point, Xenus 2 and Precursors, but thanks for the tips anyway!
Did ya'll cover Hired Sword II?
Pack up your bags boys and girls, I have found it,
the best RPG of all time...
http://www.indieretronews.com/2020/...SAAKtYiCbzCMnzMMGGSJjpaNoDyboFXTmvdVZTaTrhaLgAmbermoon open source remake in progress of a fantastic CRPG! (PC/Windows)
Originally released in 1993 for the Amiga by Thalion Software, Ambermoon was the second part of an unfinished trilogy and sequel to Amberstar that was only released in Germany. In was an incredible RPG for its time, and featured 3D graphics that were considered revolutionary for the Amiga, but sadly for the company it couldn't save them from collapse.
Although we did get to play the English version as the last beta release by a1exh which was previously available through the Thalion Webshrine and as an easily playable HD package for your Amiga. Today's news is something special indeed for fans of this great Dungeon Crawling/CRPG. As thanks to Alexh letting us know through the EAB forums. He has said that if you head on over to the github website linked below, you can try out the latest albeit early version of an open-source remake of Ambermoon; an open source version of that classic game which should bring this awesome Amiga RPG to many other platforms including Windows and Linux!
Do note however even though the game is still regarded as in an early alpha state with development by Pyrdacor, and many people such as Metallic, Hexaae, Maynef who have been diagnosing and fixing bugs in the Amiga version. What Alexh has said is "There is a hope from his participation to steer the development to create tools which will allow easy back-porting of bug fixes he discovers to the English v1.07 and German v1.05 Amiga versions down the line".
And that's just a small part of the information gathered about this open sourced remake, but for further info hit the links below!
How to run the game
I got some questions of how to run the game:
You need the original game data (either ADF files or extracted files like Party_char.amb etc).
Put these files next to the downloaded executable file called Ambermoon.net.exe.
If you have not yet, install the latest .NET framework for Windows.
The game only runs on Windows as of now.

To be able to Save and other things like Load, you need to press down the Home key at the same time. The Home key emulates the Open-Amiga key of a real Amiga.
You also need to create a save disk first (a good alternative may be to install to a virtual HD, something I haven't tried myself) and make your emulator (I invested in the commercial Amiga Forever) use 3 disk drives. Setting the Floppy Drive Emulation Speed to Turbo there is hardly any waiting time.
I promised to try Metalheart and write down my impressions... Well, I managed to finish the first screen, but then uninstalled it. No character creation - and entire stat/skill tree consists of like ten entries altogether. Game is extremely slow, and even that you can't run constantly - they did introduce stamina bar to the game! Combat is even slower, and of course there is no "combat animation speed" option - it was in Fallout, but that's Metalheart, and Metalheart doesn't need it. Combat also is absolutely braindead, and even the weakest scorpiola has enough MP to cross the entire screen and shank your character; thus, the only viable tactic is to soak damage and heal all the time. UI is cumbersome, a lot of things have no key shortcuts and of course you can't rebind your keys - 2005, ancient times, man.
I have no intention to torture myself with this - while 2D art is really pretty the game is just too bad; someone should strip it and use in some better game.

'Ruadine' is a single player dungeon-crawling adventure, currently in development and set for release later this year.
This in-browser demo offers a taste of the game's mechanics and takes roughly 10 - 20 minutes to complete. The finished game will be available for purchase as a DRM-free download (Windows), with plans for release via Steam as well as mobile (Android).
CONTROLS : Arrow keys or WASD to move / select combat action, SPACE to confirm / act, CTRL to open menu / use skill.
The game is also fully playable with the mouse! Gamepad support is in the works.
Please note that story elements within the demo are mostly non-existent, but will be implemented during the game's development.
Also, some minor graphical / UI oddities exist in the browser demo, which won't be present in the final version. Particle effects may cause slowdown on some devices.
Enjoy!
