It's amazing just how much better and faster paced this game is compared to it's dogshit sequel. RDR2 bored me to death with it's hours long intro.

I walked into the general store in Armadillo, and the owner says "I keep Jewish goods out of my store, it helps the local families." I've never heard that one before. :-D

The PC version runs like butter, and they handled the controls as well as they could, considering how sluggish it felt originally. Mods will definitely enhance the experience over time.

Runs like a dream on Steam Deck. Cap it at 45fps on OLED for 3 hours battery life. 40fps on LCD for 2 hours battery life.
I also bought it and tried it out during a break while at work on Steam Deck yesterday, and yea it was running at 60 with geometry level and draw distances maxed out. After trying to get the Switch and Xbox 360 versions to run through emulation and never surpassing 30 FPS even when in the wilderness (going into any habited area was a slide show off and on) this is a pleasure.

I almost never buy games anymore, and this one is among the few non CRPGs I actually adore, so I got it for myself. I know the cost is egregious and I feel ashamed for contributing to it, but damn I have been waiting for this for so many years.

Yeah RDR2 was one of the most boring games I ever attempted to play but this actually seems moderately enjoyable. Of course it's still AAA open world popamole so it's not in any danger of being a gaming masterpiece but it might actually be ok for a playthrough. Going with Hardcore because I assume Normal is sleep inducing difficulty. Serves alright as a chill break from being raped in my Ninja Gaiden II run.

Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Coming to PC October 29

October 8, 2024
For the first time in its storied legacy, John Marston’s beloved journey can be experienced on PC in stunning, new detail, with both Red Dead Redemption and its iconic zombie-horror companion story, Undead Nightmare, arriving to PC on October 29.

In collaboration with Double Eleven, this new version adds PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.

There’s also support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.

Check out the new trailer above and stay tuned for more details, including information later this week on how to pre-purchase Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare at the Rockstar Store, Steam, or the Epic Games Store.

Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are also currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox.
Fantastic news, I have waited over a decade to play this game

I have never agreed with or understood this type of criticism of RDR2

By design its suppose to be massive open world that you explore but it intentionally doesn't have lots of enemies all over the wilderness. You explore the beautiful game world also in the interest of collectables like Dinosaur Bones or treasure maps

But it does have activities and things to do like hunting, fishing or bounty hunting. You also come across bandit camps

Here is a list of all the things you can do in RDR2

If you looking for a frenetic action game then its not for you. And thats okay

I couldn't find anything in that game that was even remotely fun. Fuck the stupid faggot collectibles and activities. It has also had some of the shittiest controls I've ever experienced. The only thing it had going for it was the pretty map.

Its fine not to like RDR2, you just didnt understand the point and reasoning of its design and its appeal

Its not a big issue

When I first launched the game, it was stuttering and lagging like complete hell, I fiddled with the graphic settings but nothing was working, turns out all I had to do was change the CPU priority of the game to "High" and the game was running buttery smooth with no framerate or stuttering whatsoever, strange.

Anyway, I already completed the story to death when I had the game on my PS3, now I have the chance to play the expansion I never tried before which was Undead Nightmare. I'm only a bit into it so far but it's great. The atmosphere and the general look of the world are great, ammo is a lot more scarce than in the base game since there are no shops or anything and money isn't used as currency anymore.

Seeing the Red Dead 1 cast dealing with the zombie apocalypse was just fantastic overall. I captured Pestilence but I accidentally summoned my base game War Horse while on my inventory and the apocalypse horse ran away and I couldn't tame it back until I captured all four horses of the apocalypse :(

I wish Rockstar had recorded a few more voice lines for finding empty loot for John because hearing, "DAMN THIS GOD FORSAKEN SHITHOLE!" for every 2 empty bodies I loot gets grating after a while. He still has some cool lines though, like "I think I looted you the first time you died."

Downloaded this from Fitgirl. Boring soulless shit like all Rockstar games since GTA:SA.
Kind of liked RDR at the time, but wouldn't return to it. Because I can't force myself to finish RDR2 and believe that I've grown to hate all of Rockstar's restrictive open world design and gameplay (with the exception of only Max Payne 3, which is an outlier only because they had to live up to the snappy previous games that didn't have fucking default walk, movement of a sleepy seventy-year-old and so much "realistic" clunk).

Last old Rockstar game I played was Bully, around 2016. Never finished that. Stopped at the chapter 4 opening.

Tried FitGirl too and out of 4 options there 3 got me corrupted files. The "fuckin fast" option almost guarantee that. Even if you check files (archive and pre-installation) it still not guarantee.

Does it use the full map from the base game?
