So: looter shooter, coop, always online, Denuvo, gear rarity, MCU quips and dialogue, cringey characters, open world, woke....did I miss anything?
And this? From Arkane of all places. But then again, like I said, they're not in control of what they're making anymore.

Back in the days I was shitting on Dishonored and now we won't even have a game like this anymore.

Remember? A game from the creators of Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah with Viktor Antonov, Harvey Smith and Daniel Licht (RIP) on board set in a unique victorian setting where everything runs on oil. Today it seems like a fantasy.

And now:

So: looter shooter, coop, always online, Denuvo, gear rarity, MCU quips and dialogue, cringey characters, open world, woke....did I miss anything?

AAA games actually should cost $200. People would think twice and thrice before spending their money. It could have a virtuous cycle over time for the whole industry. Only whiney cheapos and game journos would be against that.
Don't forget the carbon offset fee.

That won't be necessary. After the industry self-corrects, all anger fits and culture wars will tamp down and thus reduce CO2 emissions.

In 10 years, access to AAA games will be a government entitlement that you pay for through your mental healf insurance. Each one will cost $3,000, be catastrophically buggy, and based on the extended Forspoken universe.

New trailer dropped.

I fucking hate it.

Is there a word for this phenomenon where new media is just a jumbled mix of bad hip hop beats, quirky characters, bright colors for clothes and weapons, and a thick sheen of shit over everything?

It's been fortnighted. Everything's fortnighted now.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
As if anyone will want to play it 3 months from now.

I don't care about Arkane's writing (and i don't see why anyone does TBH, their best was Dishonored and that was almost entirely due to the setting) so if the gameplay is fun i might try it once the price drops to reasonable levels and gets released on a DRM-free site like GOG - and i don't expect both to happen anywhere near as soon as 3 months (ok, perhaps it will be released on GOG but i don't see any page for it so i assume it wont be there from day 1).

The game uses Denuvo and it is always online, I doubt it will ever release on GOG.
