Seriously, did this part get cut?

I don't understand Capcom's direction, RE4 seemed to emphasize horror in a different way than the original, so cutting the horror part seems ironic. :argh:

Been replaced with a new section/set piece involving cloaked novistadors apparently.

DMC5 was pretty great

Shame that most characters in it are fucking cringe. Especially, that emo wizard dork wearing sandals.

Zero and Code Veronica, which I don't think anyone would deny as the rightful brethren of the original 3 games
Wut. You must be out of your mind. They're trash, decline in almost every way. They mark precisely where the series had lost its way. Clown thread in here.

Yes, those games were decline compared to the original trilogy, but I still think Code Veronica is ok. I liked the crazy cross-dresser and Claire's puppy eyes. Steve was a total drag tho.

Probably the same mixture of people on 4chan/ResetEra/reddit who are claiming to have played review/leaked copies.

I've seen the comment about the Bulldozer in a few places so that's probably accurate. I also saw someone write a detailed description of the new novistadors encounter so that probably has moved from the sewers.

Yeah, they're pretty bad (although I think RE0 is alright), but they're undeniably survival horror Resident Evil games, made in the exact same style as the first 3. So you can't claim that RE4's tone was so out of whack with previous games when previous RE games were already more over the top than RE4. I'd argue that RE4 is actually more faithful to the series than Code Veronica in this respect.
They'll just turn around and shit on the classic trilogy in an effort to make RE4 look better by comparison.
That's not what I did. I just turned your own argument against you to prove that you can paint even the original trilogy in the same light as RE4 if you just summarize it to sound as silly as possible while ignoring the dark and serious elements. For the record, my favorite title of the entire series is RE3 Nemesis (the original), with original RE2 trailing close behind.

Capcom is paying alot of money to pretend this demake is superior to the original, pretty fucking pathetic, there's a youtube channel right now that uploaded everything up to the castle and i've skimmed through it since i know Re4 top to bottom, and they've removed tons and tons of small little encounters connecting the major encounters and boss fights

It's kinda pathetic how you reach the castle now

-no bitores mendez eye ball that you need to insert in the door, followed by a truck trying to run you over and dozens of Ganados exiting through the back
-no chase sequence while Leon and Ashley rush to the castle to pull the bridge up

Instead all we get it is a corridor from the mendez boss fight straight to the castle gates, yes we go from a shitty shack in the woods to the main gate of the castle, the level design is so inferior it's unreal

Makes me wonder what other shit they cut out

Here's the youtube channel for those that are interested and think that i'm just doomposting

Inb4 some low standard faggot comes up with the "play the original" argument, that's not a real argument and this is a Remake of a beloved classic, imagine defending paying more for a game and getting less cool setpieces and encounters in a next gen game. Get some standards before you defend this absolute pile, i honestly can't wait for this to come out and fans of the original to tear it to shreds, Capcom fucked up again, just like they did with the Re3 remake

I will probably wait for a discount, maybe. Not paying 70$ in game that adds nothing new to the series.

Glad you mention this. In the demo of REmake4 Leon jumps out of the window of the house he first visits falling in its backyard, an area cleaned up perhaps for wood storing purposes, with a nice path leading to a bridge; however, there are no doors nor stairs to access the interior of house from that place, and no walkable ways around the building to reach the main gate either. It doesn't make any sense, they built a stone bridge to reach the back of a house with no way to get inside, they made a path with a whole bridge to reach a dead end, and other than jumping out the window there's no way from the house to go out to that backyard, so the enemies can't reach Leon. It doesn't make sense and makes the game feel like an ill paced patchwork where the player gets a massive respite and is denied the opportunity to be threatened and fight right after seeing Leon feel distressed in a cutscene.
Meanwhile, in the original, Leon jumps out the window to fall in front of the façade he entered through, and a path previously blocked has been cleared thanks to a truck moving away. As he has his back to the door, a couple of enemies pop out of it (they previously had gotten inside to kill him, forcing him to jump in the first place) pressing the player into either run or fight. It makes sense, and it creates an interesting game moment that is built up on a brief cutscene continuing the action with player control.
The decline in level design is massive, there was no reason whatsoever to make this retarded change other than to wilfully deteriorate the quality of the game, because they could still appeal to complete morons who couldn't even handle the mainstream original product without being this idiotic. It's not even the enemies not following Leon but the sheer stupidity of the way the space has been designed that is most insulting.

It feels like dishonest and artifical level design, just like the "city" in Re3 did, felt more like a theme park made to house items instead of a believable city, everything felt fake, i'm not saying they should make a super realistic city but they should at least try, and i agree with what you're saying, it's another area where i immediately noticed the lack of attention to detail, it seems like they want to copy the original but they don't know to connect the areas. It's even worse when you cross the bridge and see that it leads to the main gate of the village. Do the villagers all jump out of the guys window or something to reach the village? It just makes no sense, i've also seen footage of castle, and it all seems cramped and filled with garbage assets, storehouses, boxes etc, no level design whatsoever like in the original. Super cramped hallways and dungeons, it's absolute trash.

I really want to see the fan reception when this game comes out, people will rip it to shreds, and what's even worse is that reviewers can't even mention what was cut due to "spoilers". Spoilers my fucking ass, Capcom paid off reviewers and don't want fans of the original to know what was cut, and i'm sure most of the reviewers haven't even played the original, which they should since this is a remake and comparisons need to be made regarding cut content and if the remake has less interesting encounters or setpieces than the original.

From what i've seen, this is on par with Resident Evil 3 Remake, if not worse, since the best thing about Re4 was it's pacing and how it funneled you from one unique combat encounter to another smoothly, remake seems to have removed those encounters and replaced them with nothing.

RE2 and 3 had a more serious tone.
And RE1. Sure the voice acting was unintentionally bad which hurt the tone...ever so slightly, but even then that comprised approximately 4% of the playing time. The rest of the game time was clearly and successfully serious/mature, as well as relatively grounded in intent.

Imagine reimagining a fun, quirky, god-hand inspired, soul-infused, unique direction for the series game, and turning into bog standard Sony third person goyslop.
They even removed the QTEs lol.

Why wouldn't they when absolutely every other classic has received the same treatment, to exceptional sales and retard fanfare?

Simpletons with no standards, and sellouts with no integrity are ruining society.

One of the things I love about this series is how everyone has a different favorite. The dude above mentions RE3 as his, and that's probably my least favorite out of the first 4-5 games. Not that it's bad, I just didn't like how short it was, and I found Nemesis more annoying than anything else. Also, everyone hates Code Veronica, but I thought it was great.

For me, it's a toss-up between RE1 and RE2 (original).
