I'm glad that you liked it. I was very strongly recommending it when you asked. Good to know your money "didn't go to waste".
Thanks again, bro. I really had a blast.

Is Dragon Kart required for anything?

I got the Pretty Microphone but i am not really feeling this minigame, not big into racing games and it's a bit annoying now.

I didn't complete it but finished the game normally anyway, so I'd wager that dragon kart is optional. It's a nice idea but the driving experience is sub par. Better to emulate mario kart if you are hungry for some turtle shells.
All you need to do is grind to level 50 your main party and you are good to go.

Just sometimes there is cool content, but at least it doesn't seem like you lose anything if you don't do everything, you can still fight Amon, so i am avoiding Dragon Kart.

As well as the typical Shogi, Mahjong and UFO Catcher stuff, never did those in past games either, mostly because either i don't know the rules or the camera isn't that great and it's a slow mess that Sega absolutely refuses to put a "Fast Claw" button for, seriously, put the claw in a corner and it's sloooooow to come back to starting position, at least only one substory in 7 actually asked me to do UFO Catcher.

Yeah, dragon kart just ties into some substories, so if you don't care about doing all substories in the game, you should be safe to move along.

Now just playing the game and ignoring the mini games for the most part, got a new Hitman for the party and only one party member still needs to join, after that, maybe i will grind more jobs because it's apparently quite useful later on.

Makes sense as one gets more skills but for the most part, everyone but Saeko seems quite fine in their original jobs, though i changed Adachi's to Enforcer and Eri's to Matriarch(after playing a bit with her original job and Dealer's) but their first ones were quite decent, Saeko was the one that was the most underwhelming.

I used the hobo, the Korean and the Chinese guy. All of them have aoe and Nanba has heals. It's a great party and I never had problems in fights once I assembled it.

Will try that, i hear that it's best to wait for an underground dungeon to really grind job ranks though, but yeah, Eri is really good, so far i think she's a better character for your party than Saeko, even though story wise she only appears in one scene and she's an optional party member.

Also, i actually hope that this becomes at least a spin-off series of it's own, Yakuza RPG's i mean, i enjoyed the other games too but i enjoy having a full party to play with and being able to change styles so easily and completely, and it's crazy in a different way from the previous games.

So, it's either more JRPG or old style Yakuza for the future...or Sega makes another April Fool's joke that becomes popular and changes genres for the next game, watch the next game being a Pokemon ripoff all about Sujimon where you train criminals and dangers to society in underground places to fight in underground arenas.

Finished 4. It's brilliant, with characters that grew on me, the loose threads of the story that connect up (including from previous games), and the Reservoir Dogs style finale with 4 dudes you don't fuck with. Plus, I love that huge beast Saejima. Possibly my favourite of the Kiryu cycle so far, although Kuze remains my top "bad guy" protagonist. It was refreshing to have other characters, and there wasn't much of Majima which, surprisingly has become a plus for me. I loved Majima in 0, 1 and 2, but by then the meme felt a bit overdone, so having him on the sideline for this one felt good.

The engine was good too. Felt like a major step-up from 3, particularly in that first playable session with Akiyama under the rain. Also no constant blocking, making combat feel a lot less like a chore. Some bosses overdid the speed merchant thing though, particularly the ones with those steel batons (the prison guard chief you fight 54 times and a similar dude in Kamurocho Hills that Kiryu also has to fight 29 times). Oh, and they overdid the mobs for Tanimura's finale too. And Saejima doesn't do karaoke, which made me sad.

What a franchise. Please tell me 4 is actually considered average and 5/6 are going to blow my mind. :shittydog:

Hey, Yakuza 7 has returning characters as bosses!

Shocker of all shocks, they are much tougher fights than anything the story throws at you before, i don't think i was at the right level but still beat the boss, guess i should have done more of the battle arena even though i already finished it?

Also, Matriach and that second machine gun attack is just amazing, i spammed that heavily during the boss fight, but yeah, it seems that from now on, boss fights get tougher and i should absolutely grind a bit more.

I wish she did more than be in Ichiban Confections and Holdings, she does have some conversations with other characters, but mostly it's just her intro cutscene, comes with her being an optional character i guess but she's fun in the short we see, and she can be a monster in battle, plus, her initial job is better than Saeko's.

Best of all, she has a chicken mascot and is the easiest path to getting tons of money, Saeko never leads into meetings where you get 3 million every time, just saying, oh, and you can call the chicken mascot on your phone to help you because Yakuza 7 is great.

So, rumors, again, only rumors, have surfaced from Japan thanks to an inside source(which may be false because, again, rumor), saying that Sega is working on the next Yakuza game and it won't be a JRPG nor feature Ichiban, instead it's Judgment 2, and you still play as Yagami, if anything, the game will have a darker tone than the first, or at least that is what is planned so far.

The game will presumably be released to everything but Nintendo Switch, and yes, Google Stadia will get it, but it's just a rumor.

Dunno what to feel about this, haven't played Judgment since i don't have a PS4/PS5 but i hear it's one of the best games in the franchise so it should probably be alright...still, if this news is true, i still want Ichiban to come back in a RPG, and everyone's favorite pyromaniac wizard hobo Nanba, and ex-cop Adachi and so forth.

Real Yakuza is doing Yakuza, and is being given a Yakuza game by a government official for free. To ensure Yakuza that government official would pay Yakuza from state budget.

Should I play other Yakuza games before playing 7 / Like a Dragon? I tried Yakuza 0, but the button mashing combat really threw me off. I can force myself if it's really worth it though.
