Played bannerlord and salt, good games.
how does Sacrifice compares to first game? S&Sanctuary was super good gameplay wise, but color palette was too boring. i never manage to finish it even if i reached 2/3 of the game i think
I didn't get too far into it to make a detailed comparison but I'd say if you liked the first one you'll probably like the second one too. There always the "demo" option as well if unsure.

You know what games you played last year, vote for them. You don't need to read the entire list.
doesnt work like that, at least for me. I ended up playing roughly twice as many games as I remembered in past year. Also there is this problem that when you play something, you dont actually care for release date

A humongous list of shovelware is a little distracting. A draft list by Codex's most prestigious members should be compiled and presented before the masses. Then allow users to request additions. Give it a week or so, when people stop complaining that their favorite lesbian furry degeneracy is not present, open the poll.

I didnt play much that year tbh.
Elden Ring :4/5:
While it didnt capture me as other Souls games, this is still a good game though.
M&B Bannerlord:3.5/5:
Its a decent game, plays better than Warband but its still disappointing. Until some proper mods like In the Name Of Jerusalem 2 will drop this is just a fancier Warband crippled by the lack of setting choice in the form of total conversions, this was the true strength of Warband and currently available Bannerlord puny mods just can't compete...yet (i hope so)
F&H2 Termina:4/5:
This was a pleasant surprise for me this year, while in some places it feels lacking thanks to somewhat rushed development it's still a satysfying game with good exploration and atmosphere.

He's obviously in an impossible position - a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. If he's going to get into the argument, he's either going to have to argue for the inclusion of all the rubbish games or he's going to have to explain the totally subjective criteria that made him choose this or that game to be on the list.
One is easier. "Dev considers it a RPG so it goes on the list, rate it whatever you want"

or

"Dev considers it a RPG, before including it on the list let's argue about it for 30 pages before someone says that first we have to define what is a RPG"

The real danger of too many titles is that a non-prestigious game might win. :M Pepito's habit of weighting votes for the Mayonesian curve to have more interesting graphics also makes people feel the votes are being gerrymandered or whatever that abomination from the US election system is called.

It's Potato Flowers in Full Bloom by a country mile, but sadly I doubt many have played it.

Roguelike Zorbus is more RPG than any of these games.

Pure incline. D&D inspired, proper graphics and sounds, ambiance, dynamic lighting, advanced AI, dev posts here on the Codex.
First time i heard about it, or maybe that's one of those early access games launched decades ago i forgot about and only released recently. Had to use the codex search engine to find a thread and it's well buried. Hardly anyone speak about it, same for kotC2 or similar indie titles.
Will certainly try that soon too.

I dont understand the drama around this pool, I might like a little bit more curated list but honestly scrolling thru all the games and picking 2 I`ve played took me under minute so I`m perplexed by people who were lost and are crying the list is so long they felt overwhelmed.

Hm, well the last time we had an argument about this same topic I mentioned that a game shouldn't make the poll unless there's an actual thread on the Codex about it. Since games like "Super Animal Lesbian RPG" made the list it's clear that Felipe absolutely needs to have every piece of shovelware/cringeware released in a given year on it, and everyone's just going to have to deal (by either taking a few minutes to go through the entire list or being discouraged from voting, both outcomes are acceptable). :M

I fully expect next year list to double in size. Need constraints before its too late

There's at least one codexer owning this game,so it has be in the list, not pointing finger at anyone of course but name starts with a F and ends with a T.

since when any shit under the sun deserves to be in a poll?

it's like "vote on the sexiest woman alive" and even she gets to be in the poll just because she has a vagina :)

at least next year put a gameplay picture next to the game, so we can see at a glance what marvels we've unwillingly skipped

the best thing a poll can bring is not the prize, but bringing awareness

Make a curated list and have people complain about gaym XYZ not being in the list.

vs

Include all gaymes you can think of and have people complain that the list is too long with shovelware.

:philosoraptor:

Though Infi is actually right, putting the titles that have more steam reviews at the top of the list can easily solve the problem.

That would totally skew the poll results. I would have to put Elden Ring first and Knights of the Chalice 2 literally last.
Maybe go by length of Codex threads then. Shovelware with no threads gets listed last.
